AUSTRALIAN UNDERWATER HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIPS Tuesday 9 th Saturday 13th January 2018 HBF Stadium - Perth, WA

Welcome The WA Underwater Hockey Commission extends a very warm welcome to all states to compete in the 2018 Australian Underwater Hockey Championships to be held in January 2018 at HBF Stadium, Perth. If you have any questions regarding the 2018 Australian Underwater Hockey Championships, please forward them to Sarah Walker Event Manager (uwhnationals2018@gmail.com). State reps/team managers please contact Sarah for any information regarding the Nationals. Players should contact their state reps/team managers beforehand to save Sarah getting the same questions over and over. Jumpy Jendrzejak President of UWH WA Ph: 0417 994 004 Email: president@waunderwaterhockey.com Sarah Walker 2018 Nationals Event Manager Ph: 0433 001 538 Email: uwhnationals2018@gmail.com Venue HBF Stadium, 100 Stephenson Avenue, Mount Claremont, WA 6010 https://www.hbfstadium.com.au/ HBF Stadium (formerly known as Challenge Stadium) is a world class facility boasting three 50m pools, a gymnastics training centre, a gym, crèche, cafe, dive pool and a water polo pool. The indoor 8-lane pool is a championship pool used for many high-level swimming competitions. It is a depth of 2m and is heated to 26.5 degrees. The dive pool, half of which is at a depth of 3m, is heated to 27.5 degrees.

Format The games format will follow the format recommended by the Australian Underwater Hockey Commission. Categories The following categories will be contended at the 2018 Australian National Championships Open Elite Women Elite Open Masters U19 Open U19 Girls U15 Open Please note that in the event of 6 teams entering in the Elite Mens division, the preference is to still complete a double RR. This may require games starting on the morning of Tuesday the 9 th. Pool Layout The 2018 Australian Championships will take place using 3 courts running simultaneously. Out of Water substitution will be employed in all courts. All courts will have temporary markings used for the duration of the tournament. This layout is subject to change depending on the # of teams competing as we may only require 2 courts. Court 1: Used for all Elite Men s and Elite Women s games Court 2 and Court 3: Used for U15 s, U19 s and Masters games.

Cost We have done our best to keep the costs down for the 2018 National Championships. In order to make payments, please refer to the payment schedule below and the attached forms. We will advise closer to the nationals about spectator tickets. 2018 figures Senior Team: $1000 Junior team: $800 Senior Player: $100 Junior Player: $80 Referee: $85 UHA: $35 Payment Schedule The key to this payment schedule is communication. If any state needs more time, please contact us and we will work something out. 30th October 20th November 4th December 15th December 9th January Team Nominations Due Team Fees Due Individual Registrations Due Player Payments Due Player Profiles Due Function Payments Due Optional Team Training Requests Due Draft Games Schedule Released Australian National UWH Championships 2018 Senior: $1000 Junior: $800 Senior: $220 Junior: $200 Senior: $80* Junior: $55 Team Registration Team Registrations are due on Monday 30 th October. Please complete and return the attached team registration forms along with the Team Registration fees prior to this date. Player Registration We are investigating an online registration tool to register players. We also aim to combine this with the player profiles and competitions stats. In the event we are unable to do this we will send out forms to be completed and returned with the Individual fees (Player fee + Referees levy + UHA Capitation) by Monday 20 th of November. Player Profiles This year we would like to continue with the social media hype created in the lead up to the Hobart Worlds. Each team will have their players profiles uploaded to the Facebook and Instagram page. Player profiles are to be submitted by November 20 th together with Player registrations. More information will be provided soon.

Tournament Schedule Team Training Limited team training will be available between 8am and 1pm on Tuesday 9 th in 30 min blocks at a cost of $50 per court, per 30 min block. State Reps - please indicate the number of 30min blocks you would like by the 4 th of December. The schedule will be released with the Final Competition Draw. Training may be made available for the evening of Monday the 8 th if the elite Mens division starts early.

Functions There is no cost for the opening or closing ceremony. Both ceremonies will be held at the pool. The Senior Function will be held at The Floreat Surf Life Saving Club. Address - West Coast Highway, Floreat, WA 6015. Food A variety of pizzas will be served throughout the evening as well as some platters to start. Beverages TBC whether drinks will be included in ticket price or sold on the night. Cost TBC - Max $80 per person The Junior Function is being held on a party boat on the Swan River. Pickup/drop off location Barrack Street Jetty, Perth. Food A variety of pizzas as well as a couple of sides will be supplied. Beverages Soft drinks only are included. No alcohol is to be taken onto the boat. Cost - $55 per person. Volunteers As with any competition, many hands make light work. The organising committee is calling out for anyone who may be coming to the Nationals as a non-player who would be keen to help out during the competition to help at the score desk to ensure that players can use their non-playing time to relax and unwind. We will work around their schedule and commitments. An hour of volunteer time a day adds up over the entire comp. Any interested parties are asked to contact the event manager on uwhnationals2018@gmail.com. Puck The official tournament puck will be the Simms Puck. Pucks will be made available for warm ups and are to remain at each court s scoring bench when not in use. Teams may also supply their own pucks for warmups but must either be the Simms puck or the super soft orange puck. No other pucks are to be used in the pool at any time. Filming We are aiming to setup a live youtube stream as per the recent Hobart Worlds for at least 1 and hopefully 2 courts throughout the competition. To make this run as smoothly as possible, teams will be rostered onto filming duties just as they would be to scoring duties. We are also looking for a volunteer with expertise in this area from any state who can manage the operation of this. Please contact uwhnationals2018@gmail.com if you are interested or know someone that might be. Referees As in previous years, the intention is to use as many Non-Playing Referees as possible. Due to the logistics of running 3 courts simultaneously, we request that any players that are also interested in refereeing a few games over the tournament please make themselves known. For any questions regarding referees please contact Craig Mackenzie - craig.mackenzie@uwa.edu.au Referee Course If enough interest is shown, a Level 1 and/or Level 2 Referee Course may be held prior to the beginning of the National Championships. States will be asked to express interest at a later date.
