Dear TABB families, Welcome to the 2018 TABB Season! We are just weeks away from Opening Day and even closer to upper division practice games. It s an exciting time of year! The TABB board and our wonderful parent volunteers have been working behind the scenes to produce the best baseball experience possible for our children and families. Our calendar is packed with some exciting events, and soon our schedules will be full of games and practices. We hope that tonight s Parent Night will be informative and fun. Tonight you will meet your team manager and learn about his/her coaching philosophy. You will also learn about the parent roles and select a role for yourself. We are a community, and we hope that everyone will take part in this community and volunteer in some aspect in whatever way fits your availability and ability. Practices will begin on January 29 th ; however batting practice can begin as soon as January 22 nd. Your team manager will let you know your team s schedule. This year is the second year the TABB Snack Shack will be run by committee. Last year s committee was a great success, and we hope to continue the smooth operation of the snack bar for years to come. We feel that this format helps break up some of the more time-consuming aspects of this job into more manageable parts, making it more fun for all involved. If you would like to be more involved at TABB, please consider joining the Snack Bar committee! Contact tabbsnackbar@gmail.com for more information. We have some fun fundraising opportunities planned this year. Our annual Torrance Batting Cage night will be on January 28 th, at the cages at Wilson Park. For a $10 cover charge, you will have unlimited access to cages and the turf fields. TABB will be serving hot dogs, chips, drinks, hot cocoa, and snacks at additional charge. Kids and parents alike always enjoy hitting in the cages, and the kids usually end up on the turf fields in a huge dodgeball game. This event is fun for all ages! The 10 th Annual TABB Hit-A-Thon Fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, February 24 th. It is a fun time where players can come together and play as a team, while at the same time, support our league. The Hit-A-Thon is TABB s major fundraiser of the season. Your participation in this event will ensure that the league is able to continue hosting fun events, purchasing new baseball equipment, and maintain and upgrade our facilities. This year we are adding a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser at the same time. Your Team Parent will receive tickets to distribute to all team members to sell. We will have prizes for top ticket sellers. We expect 100% participation and encourage you to invite your family and friends for this fun day. More information on these events is included on later pages in this packet. Finally, the TABB board hopes that everyone has a fun and rewarding experience this season. Our league s main goals remain the same as always, to foster character development in youth through healthy, fun competition in a nurturing community of families with children s best interests at heart. Regards, Gary Sharman TABB President

Formal background checks, via the "LIVESCAN" System, are administered by Safe and Secure, located in Torrance. The nominal cost for this service is $19.00 (cash)/$20.00 (charge). ALL managers, coaches, and board members, as well as anyone else having contact with the players must participate in this program. TABB PARKING PLAN Operating Hours M-F 4-8pm. Saturday 9am -7:30pm. Sunday 12-7:30pm. During normal operating hours, all access gates to the field shall be open. This will prevent any one alley-way from being overburdened. With four means of ingress and egress, any one gate will not be overused. Gate # 1 (Bottom of Doris Way hill), will be used as an entry point only, being the preferred gate for our player drop-off area between the Mustang and Bronco outfields. This area is near a walkway leading to the Main Snack Shack allowing access to both diamonds. Gate # 2 (Carol Dr. & Doris Way), will be used as an entry or exit point. Gate # 3 (Reese Rd. & Doris Way), will be used as an exit point only. Gate # 4 (Sharynne Lane & Doris Way), which leads to the main parking lot, (See attached plot plan), will be used as an entering and exiting point for parking in our main parking lot. Please note this parking lot is for handicap parking, managers, and snack bar personnel only. Also, children like to play in this alleyway, so PLEASE drive slowly. ST. LAWRENCE PARKING T-Ball/Pinto Field Parking at St. Lawrence There is NO PARKING at St. Lawrence. Any cars parked on the basketball courts or along the T-ball field will be towed at the owner s expense. It is also proposed that during the first few weeks of the regular season, TABB will monitor the parking lots on all sides. Should there be any issues relative to parking in any of the lots; the President of TABB shall be the contact person. This Parking plan is to be used during normally scheduled games, playoffs or All-Star Tournaments.

USA Bats In conjunction with USA Baseball and its other participating national member organizations, PONY Baseball has adopted the new USA Baseball bat standard (USABat). Effective January 1, 2018, with the exception of -3 (BBCOR certified), all other 2 1/4" and 2 5/8" barrel bats with a minus factor of (-5, -7, -9, etc.), must be USABat certified with the USABat licensing stamp on the bat in order to be used for league and tournament play. All 2 1/4" and 2 5/8" minus factor bats -5, -7, -9, etc. used in 2017 will be illegal to use in 2018. Here is what the approved USA bat stamp looks like: Bats with a USSSA stamp are illegal in PONY Baseball: Tee ball bats are not required to undergo lab testing to receive approval under the USABat program. PONY does require that tee ball bats must carry the USA Baseball mark accompanied by the following text: "Only For Use With Approved Tee Ball Bats." If you already have a tee ball bat you would like to continue using, to be compliant with PONY you can purchase a USA Bat sticker directly from USA Baseball and place it on your bat. TABB also has a limited number of stickers available to purchase. You can purchase a USA Bat sticker here: https://usabaseballshop.com/products/usabat-tee-ball-sticker?variant=44877922632. Tee ball bats manufactured after the new rule was adopted will already include the USABat Baseball mark. To find out more about the USABat standard go to http://www.pony.org/default.aspx?tabid=1191154 To find PONY's official approved bat list, which is in accordance with USABat, go to https://usabat.com/
