Trophy Case Peewee A Boys Bring back TWO Trophies from Faribault The Peewee A Boys Love 3rd Place A Lot! So Much so that they picked up another Third Place Trophy in Faribault over MLK Weekend. That makes THREE on the season with only Warroad left on the tournament schedule for the boys to try and get over the Hump. Sioux Falls was our opening quarterfinal opponent and the Irish would be hungry to make it 4 for 4 in revenge games this season after the Stampede tripped us up 3-1 at Cottage Grove. This time the offense flexed its muscle putting the hurt on Sioux Falls 8-4. That would setup a semi-final matchup with #8 ranked Bloomington Jefferson. The Irish would go up 1-0, but the Jaguars would tie it up in the 2nd and a 1-1 tie would go to the final frame. The Jags would get the go ahead goal with 8 minutes to go and a final minute Power Play and extra attacker would give the Irish a 6 on 4 advantage, but a trip to the chip wasn t to be in a 2-1 loss. In the 3rd place game, Owatonna came to fight early, but eventually could not keep up with the speed and puck movement of our boys and the final score would end up 7-1. The story however does not end there. The Irish would indeed earn their first Championship Trophy of the year, but not on the ice. Our skaters and parents tallied 45 Hot Dogs on the weekend to earn the Hot Dog Eating Championship and it came complete with a Hot Dog Trophy (See Pic to the right). A couple Goalie Dads are rumored to have put us over the TOP! Congrats to all the skaters and parents for bringing back TWO TROPHIES on this fun weekend. Rosemount Area Hockey Association Page 12

Trophy Case Peewee A Earn the Clean Sweep in 3rd Place Trophies The Peewee A boys closed out their tourney season with a Bus trip up to Hockey Town USA in Warroad MN. A tough test was ahead of the #21 ranked Irish with 4 of the 6 opposing teams being ranked in Youth Hockey Hubs Top 20 and Roseau, Alexandria and Warroad all in the Top 10. The Irish Pool would consist of International Falls, Alexandria and Warroad. The Irish opened with a nice 2-1 win over #8 Alexandria and then put the Hurt on International Falls 14-2. This setup a bout with host Warroad who came into the tournament ranked #1 in State. Rosemount would skate with them for a period, but didn t have the man-power to keep up with their three high end AA quality players eventually falling 7-1. Back to the hotel for some fun while we wait for the 4 remaining games to play out for Championship Sunday matchups. Good news and bad news would come down the pipes as we earned the 3rd overall seed in the 7 team tournament (Yes a team dropped out last minute). That meant a guaranteed trophy, but also meant a rematch with Warroad as Roseau grabbed the #1 seed on goals against tie-breaker. So a rare semi-final game with the winner going to the Championship and loser taking 3rd was on tap at Warroads awesome Gardens Arena. Much of the same dominance from Warroad again would be too much for the Irish to overcome, this time in a 5-1 defeat. The loss meant ANOTHER 3rd Place Trophy and the boys were called one by one to accept their medals. FOUR Scheduled Tournaments for the Peewee A boys in 2016-17 and FOUR 3rd Place Finishes with many of the games against associations that do not have AA teams. We would have liked to get over the trophy hump, but the boys worked hard to earn every one of those 3rds. Congratulations to all the players and coaches on a great tournament run. Head Coach Brian Depaulis, Assistants Jeff Tuccitto, Stacy Johnston and Tony Hekrdle. Managers Lori Kalata and Chris Gullickson. Team Members Michael Nelson, Tysen Kalata, Jair Carlson, Ryker Sabo, Will Pasch, Cam Johnston, Ethan Smith, Caden Hegarty, Carson Blume, Chase Tuccitto, CJ Schwab, Jake Toll, Riley Depaulis, Carsen Brandt, Grant Ancheta, Drew Gullickson and Chris Hekrdle. Trophy Case Squirt C Gold Takes Second at the Somerset Spartan Shootout The Squirt C Gold team traveled to Somerset, WI for the Spartan Shootout. In their first game they beat St. Mary s Point 8-0. Giving Goalie Logan Krueger his 7th shutout of the season! In the second game the boys faced Pine City. The Irish came out on top winning 7-1, sending them to their 4th Championship game of the season. The Irish faced the tough Waconia team in the Championship game and lost 4-1. Congrats to the players and coaches on their 2nd place finish! Peewee B2 Green Earns another 3rd The Irish Peewee B2 Green team earned third place in the Inver Grove Heights Rebel Classic. In game 1 they skated past Spring Lake Park with a score of 13-1. They then faced a competitive Woodbury team and came up short (2-5). In the third place game they shut out Inver Grove Heights 10-0 for the win. Rosemount Area Hockey Association Page 14

Trophy Case Rosemount Squirt B Blue Goes 4 for 4 in Adding Tournament Hardware to the Rosemount Trophy Case The Wayzata Freeze Tournament at Plymouth Ice Center got off to a fast start with a 8-0 win over MAML (Monticello, Andover and Maple Lake) on Friday night and was followed by a 4-2 semi-final win over St Michael Albertville on Saturday. In Sunday afternoon's championship game the team faced the host team, Wayzata Navy. Wayzata got off to a quick start with a quick puck luck goal to go up 1-0. Rosemount tied up the game at 1-1 with a bit of their own puck luck, before a Wayzata one on none break away resulted in a 2-1 Wayzata lead. The team had plenty of opportunity to tie things back up at 2-2, but it was not meant to be. Wayzata finished off scoring with an empty netter to take the championship with a score of 3-1. This was the team s fourth tournament of the year and the fourth time they ended up with hardware for the trophy case. The team now turns their focus to district play until heading to Fargo for the Squirt International in Fargo in February. The team previously brought home 2nd in the Minneapolis Cup, 1st in the Salute to Hockey and the rare 4th place trophy in the Eden Prairie Shootout. PeeWee B1 Earns 3rd Place at Eagan The Irish Peewee B1 squad traveled to Eagan for the New Years Border Battle and were in great shape after Pool Play. A complete 3-0 sweep with wins over Mound-Westonka 6-2, Centennial 3-1 and Mahtomedi 3-1 would earn Rosemount the #1 seed in the Green Pool. A Sunday morning semifinal match-up with St Cloud however would not go our way as a hot goalie would keep Rosemount out of the Chip in a 1-0 defeat. It was time to play spoiler in the 3rd place game vs tourney host Eagan and a Double OT Winner by Caden Miller would earn the Irish the 3rd Place hardware and cancel all plans for a Monday morning Wildcat parade down Pilot Knob Road. Rosemount Area Hockey Association Page 16

Trophy Case Squirt B Blue ran into their stiffest competition of the year at the Prairie Shootout. After getting through pool play with three straight wins Westonka (6-0), Centennial (6-3), Eden Prairie Black (3-1); the boys suffered two losses in the championship bracket. The boys jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the semi-final game to Chaska-Chan Black, buy the ice flipped toward the opponents side and the final score saw Squirt B Blue lose only their second game of the season 4-3. In the 3rd place game the cumulative effect of the five games and snowy travel between Rosemount and Eden Prairie over the weekend seemed to take it s toll and the boys lost their 3rd of the season 7-4 settling for 4th place. Peewee B1 Wins Consolation at Eden Prairie The Peewee B1 Boys brought back the Consolation Trophy from Eden Prairie. After and opening quarterfinal 5-0 loss to #5 ranked Edina White, the Irish would notch wins over Prior Lake Navy 6-1 and tournament host Eden Prairie 6-0 to claim the hardware. Rosemount Area Hockey Association Page 17

Trophy Case Rosemount Squirt C Blue Wins Forest Lake Ranger Classic It was a great weekend of hockey for these guys. Working hard in all ends of the ice and great goaltending. They outscored their opponents throughout the tournament 24-4! The first game in the bracket was against Mahtomedi. The Irish scored the first shift of the game but Mahtomedi followed up quickly to tie it up leaving the end of the first period 1-1. From the second period of that first game on through the end of the tournament the Irish were on fire. The first game ended 8-2. In the semifinal the Irish faced Forest Lake Maroon and came out on top with a 9-2 win. They finished off the tournament with a 7-0 shutout over Forest Lake Gold. Great effort and teamwork by everyone. Congratulations Squirt C Blue! Congrats to the Peewee B1 Boys who took the Championship at Fergus Falls sweeping the weekend with wins over Fargo Gold 4-1, Winnipeg 7-2 and Fargo Green 10-0!
