Safety Information for School Field Trips 1
Teacher / Chaperone Student Ratios School groups visiting LJISD Water Park are required to follow the supervision ratios of 1 teacher per 10 students (1:10) for Elementary Schools and 1 teacher per 15 students (1:15) for Middles Schools and High Schools. Please note that students with special needs require a full time caretaker. We believe it is necessary that all school teaching staff and helpers along with LJISD lifeguards and management work together as a team to provide a fun and SAFE experience for all students visiting our park. LJISD Water Park Supervision All LJISD Water Park Lifeguards are certified, trained and hold a current First Aid Certificate. In addition LJISD Water Park conducts an in house training program which is specific to LJISD rides and operation. Park Capacity for School Field Trip LJISD Water Park has a capacity to cater for 900 visitors, however on school field trip days we limit the capacity as needed. Note: Public is not allowed into the facility on field trip days. Personal Items Please ensure that all students and supervising staff attending LJISD Water Park wear appropriate swimming attire as specified in the Water Park rules. It is recommended that children have a hat, water shoes or sandals, wear sunscreen, and bring their own towel. Safety Rules All students and staff attending a field trip to LJISD Water Park must understand and follow the LJISD Safety Sheets. Food & Snacks Schools must provide CNS lunch to all students. No outside food is allowed inside the Water Park. The only outside snacks allowed are water, juice and fruit. The concession will be closed during field trips, please plan accordingly. 2
LJISD SAFETY SHEET This information should be read and explained to supervising teachers and chaperones prior to entering LJISD Water Park. On behalf of the management and staff of LJISD Water Park we look forward to your upcoming visit. La Joya ISD prides itself in providing the safest facilities for our students, staff and members of its community. LJISD Water Park is one of the newest facilities and we take pride in enforcing safety rules. Our staff, with your help, will provide a day of fun and excitement for all. LJISD Water Park has safety rules and regulations for all rides and activities. Guests who fail to comply with these rules and regulations may be restricted from having access to our rides and activities. Please ensure NOBODY enters the Natatorium building. Please ensure all non-proficient/ non swimmers are supervised by a teacher or chaperone at ALL times. Please verify the swimming ability with parents. Please assist staff and management in providing discipline to students who breach the safety rules and regulations. Please ensure students do not engage in any aggressive, disruptive and/or unsociable behavior. We do not encourage teachers to join the students on the rides or attractions. Please understand that in order for the lifeguards to provide a safe water environment, they cannot babysit students. It is the responsibility of the adult in charge to make sure the students abide by the rules. For any more clarification on these recommendations please ask management. 3
STUDENT SAFETY SHEET This information should be read and explained to students prior to entering LJISD Water Park. All students visiting LJISD Waterpark must: 1. Read and follow all signs and rules displayed throughout the park. 2. Follow all instructions given by LJISD Lifeguards and Staff. 3. Please DO NOT run. 4. Be aware of others. 5. Please respect our park and do not damage, disable or deface any equipment signage or device in the park. 6. Have lots of fun! 4
LJISD Water Park Rules 1. No person may use the pool unless it is officially open and the lifeguards are on duty. 2. All instructions given by the lifeguard are to be followed. 3. Wear proper swimming attire. Swimsuits for females at all times, Dri-Fit and white cotton shirts are allowed. Swim trunks or Board Shorts for males. NO JEANS, NO BASKETBALL SHORTS, NO COLOR COTTON SHIRTS. 4. Rinse before dipping into the pools. 5. Admission to the pool will be denied for any of the following reasons: *Intoxication*not wearing proper swim attire*open sores*wounds*skin infections 6. Children 12 years old and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult or parent. 7. Must be 48 to ride slides. 8. Diving, horseplay, running, pushing, causing undue disturbance, vulgar language or any conduct that may endanger the welfare of self or other patrons is strictly prohibited. 9. Infants/children not potty-trained must wear Swim Diapers under swimsuits. NO diapers allowed in the water. 10. Spitting, blowing of nose into the pool or onto deck, improper public displays of affection, and profanity are prohibited. 11. Smoking and Alcohol is NOT permitted in or around the LJISD grounds. 12. The pool manager or lifeguard on duty has the authority to enforce these rules and may remove any patron who violates these rules. 5
