1976 The list was divided into three parts: Calls 1-38 - Basic Program Calls 1-54 - Extended Basic Program Calls 1-68 - Mainstream Program 1977 Add Split Circulate to the Circulate Family Thru to Cross Trail (Cross Trail Thru) 1978 Add Recycle Substitute (Listed as Zoom/Substitute) 1979 Add Backtrack (Listed as U-Turn Back/Backtrack) Ferris Wheel Pass the Ocean (Added to Ocean Wave Family) Drop Cast 1/4, 1/2, In, Right, Left Couples Backtrack Couples Lead Left Shoot the Star 3/4 Swat the Flea 1980 Add Touch (To a wave, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4) Drop Single File Turnback Inside Out/Outside In During the Membership meeting (04-02-1980) the following was approved: In order to arrive at a compromise to accommodate the establishment of the Extended Basics Program as a Mainstream Limited Program and to require as few changes to the Mainstream Program as possible, the following changes were approved. Moved the following calls to Mainstream: Alamo style/balance Turn Thru Eight Chain Thru Sweep a Quarter Pass to the Center Spin the Top Renumbered the Basic Program as 1 through 34 Renumbered the Extended Basic Program as 35 through 47 Renumbered the Mainstream Program as 48 through 68

1981 Moved Alamo Style from a separate call to part of the Ocean Wave Family. Moved Pass the Ocean to a separate position of its own. Include the following calls under appropriate families: Wrong Way Grand, Wheel and Deal from lines of four and two faced lines, and Left Turn Thru. Merged the Basic list (1-34) and the Extended Basic list (35-48) into a single list called the Basic Program (Calls 1-48). Square Dance Teachers would allow twenty-nine 2-2 1/2 hour sessions to teach the Basic Program. Adopted calls Basic list 1-48 for three years allowing no additions or deletions until the CALLERLAB Convention in 1984. Adopted calls Mainstream list (49-68) for three years allowing no additions except the calls from the Quarterly Selections which have gained majority approval and there be no deletions until the CALLERLAB Convention in 1984. 1984 Drop Substitute Touch (To a wave, 1/2, 3/4) (The effect of these two changes eliminated the families and gave us the single calls of Zoom and Touch 1/4.) Moved Sweep a Quarter to the Basic Program resulting in: Basic Program calls 1-49 Mainstream Program calls 50-68 Adopted the Basic Program for a period of four years. No changes to be made until the CALLERLAB Convention in 1988. Adopted the Mainstream Program for four years allowing No additions except the calls from the Quarterly Selections which have gained majority approval and there be no deletions until the CALLERLAB Convention in 1988. 1987 During the 1987 Annual Membership meeting (04-15-1987) in New Orleans, LA, the Membership approved the following MOTION: BE IT RESOLVED that CALLERLAB accept the Mainstream Bold Faced/italicized list as presented at the 1987 New Orleans convention on a one (1) year trial basis with a recommended teaching time of not less than sixty (60) hours.

Partner Tag During the 1988 Annual Membership meeting (03-03-1988) in Reno, NV the Membership approved the following MOTION: BE IT RESOLVED that the, CALLERLAB Mainstream bold faced/italicized list be dropped from further consideration. 1989 Drop Wrong Way Promenade Allemande Right 1990 Add Extend (Moved from Plus) Drop Divide Peel Off (Moved to Plus) 1991 The Mainstream Committee recommends that the words "suggested teaching order" be printed on the published list. This motion was seconded and approved at their meeting during the 1991 CALLERLAB Convention in Las Vegas. 1993 Drop Cross Trail Thru (Moved to A-1) Partner Tag (Moved to Plus) Left Turn Thru and changed Turn Thru Family to Turn Thru 1994 During the 1994 BOG meeting (04-10-1994), the following MOTION was approved by the Board: MOTION: Be it resolved that we print the Basic/Mainstream program, calls 1-66 on one sheet of paper and the Plus Program, calls 67-96, on a second sheet of paper; each list to be printed in different colored ink. 1996 Adapted a teach time of thirty (30) hours for the Basic Program (calls 1-49) 2000 Changed the Basic/Mainstream Program to Mainstream Program From the Program Policy document: 7. Dance programs are updated every 2 years. Changes shall be slow and deliberate.

Calls in italics may be deferred until later in the teaching sequence. Recommended placement of some of these calls has been indicated with an asterisk. CALLERLAB recommends that the BASIC and MAINSTREAM Programs, calls 1-68, be taught in not less than 58 hours. CALLERLAB also recommends that calls be taught from more than a single position (formation and arrangement) and that styling and timing be included as part of the teaching program. NOTE TO DANCE PROGRAMMERS There is NO program called the Mainstream/Plus Program. No dancer is required to know Plus calls to attend a Mainstream open dance. Please advertise dance programs as Mainstream or Plus, NOT Mainstream/Plus. These lists are furnished through the courtesy of CALLERLAB and your local CALLERLAB callers.
