What s Happening The City plans to mill and resurface Dr. M.L. King, Jr. Street from approximately 5 th Avenue North to 34 th Avenue North this fiscal year. Resurfacing provides an opportunity, through our Complete Streets Program, to implement changes to the roadway striping that enable a street to be safer while continuing to move people across several modes and support business needs along the corridor.

30 th to 34 th Ave N Existing and Proposed Lane Configuration Curb to curb width narrows in this section, though vehicle volumes are consistent with the wider section to the south. Keeping the existing lane configuration matches the section north of 34 th Ave N that was previously resurfaced. New bicycle lanes currently being constructed along 30 th Ave N makes this a natural transition to end the north/south bike lanes.

Next Steps Development of detailed design plans for construction Communication reconnection with neighborhood associations, business community, and general public as to preferred alternative Coordination with FDOT for intersection at 5 th Avenue N Construction anticipated this Spring Restriping between the curbs that adds bike lanes - with buffers where feasible, painted medians, and limited crosswalks Additional enhanced crosswalks and concrete medians with landscaping to be constructed at a later date Pavement markings can remain in paint rather than thermoplastic material until a complementary capital project to build the enhanced crosswalks and medians is constructed through the Complete Streets capital program budget
