Legacy Loyalty Programme: Earn Discounts for Your Team! Legacy is grateful for your support as we grow in Season 2! We'd like to reward programmes who put their trust in us. Here s how it all works! All-Star Programmes (Dance and Cheer): Earn up to 50% Discount on your Nationals Entry! Earn discounts at LIVE YOUR LEGACY Nationals just for competing at Legacy Regionals and Super- Regionals... which you probably planned to do anyway! Here s how it works: For every athlete your programme brings to a Regional or Super Regional event, your programme earns 1.50 credit for Nationals for up to 50% of your Nationals entry. For example if your programme attends a Regional and 2 Super Regionals, you ll get a credit for Nationals that can be used at the gym s discretion. Maybe to buy new training equipment, coach education, or one heck of an end of year pizza party! Whatever you choose, it s up to you. The discounts are yours and are applied on invoicing for Nationals. EXAMPLE Event BE VISIONARY (Regional) JUST BELIEVE (Super Regional) DREAM EXTREME (Super Regional) LIVE YOUR LEGACY (Nationals) # of Athletes** Discount Multiplier Nationals Discount Earned 97 1.5 145.50 83 1.5 124.50 93 1.5 139.5 Total Discount Earned > 409.50* *Discounts will be applied on invoice for up to 50% of the total Nationals ATHLETE REGISTRATION fees. Higher percentages will occur if smaller numbers of athletes attend Nationals in comparison to the number of athletes that attended Regional and Super Regional events. **Discounts are calculated with your ORIGINAL entry. If you register 20 athletes and then call to say you need to add 3 more athletes, additional fees will apply to add those athletes (see our competition policies) and those three athletes will not be calculated in the discount pricing. However, if you register 20 and end up only competing 18, you ll still get credit for 20 athletes for discount pricing calculations. SCHOOL Team Discounts For the 2015-2016 Season, all school teams are eligible for a 10% discount applied on invoice at the time of registration under the following conditions: To be eligible for this discount, your team must register as its own entity on the Legacy Online Registration System (it cannot be a team listed within an established All-Star programme-- the school must have its own account). The team must belong to a registered primary or secondary school with the school address, website, and a school registered email as the point of contact. This offer does not include universities or prep teams that are part of all-star gyms. Special Athlete Division and ParaCheer Division Discounts Legacy is proud to support Special Athlete divisions and new to 2015-2016 season, the all new ParaCheer divisions. Our support system for these divisions is still in development, but will be available soon. Please join us this season in welcoming athletes of all ability levels to participate in this life-changing sport for cheerleaders and dancers.
Legacy Cheer & Dance Age Grids and Divisions **Items in RED indicate changes from the previous season.** THE INFORMATION BELOW IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE DANCE AGE GRID: STYLES Legacy Cheer & Dance offers dance divisions in 3 styles: Jazz, Pom, and Hip-Hop. JAZZ A jazz routine incorporates stylized dance movements and combinations, formation changes, group work, leaps and turns. Emphasis is placed on proper technical execution, extension, control, body placement and team uniformity. POM
Poms must be used 80% of the routine. Important characteristics of a pom routine include strong pom technique: clean/precise and sharp motions, synchronization and visual effect, and may incorporate tricks (i.e. leaps/turns, pom passes, jump sequences, kick lines etc). Visual effect includes level changes, group work, formation changes, the use of different color poms, etc. HIP HOP Routines can incorporate street style movements with an emphasis on execution, style, creativity, body isolations and control, rhythm, uniformity and musical interpretation COMPETITOR AGE Athlete age for the entire 2015-2016 season is determined by their age as of 31 August, 2015. The age division of a team is determined by the age of the oldest competitor. COMBINING & SPLITTING Legacy Cheer & Dance will combine divisions first by size and then by gender. DIVISION COMBINATION PROTOCOL If there are 3 or less teams in the same category, Legacy Cheer & Dance will combine Small and Large within the same age division only. Example If there are 3 teams in Small Senior Pom and 5 teams in Large Senior Pom, they will be combined to create Senior Pom. EXCEPTION They will not be combined if there are any dancers who crossover on 2 teams from the same program, as they cannot crossover within the same division. SENIOR CO-ED COMBINATION PROTOCOL If there is only one team entered in any senior division, Legacy Cheer & Dance will combine Senior & Senior Coed CO-ED OPEN COMBINATION PROTOCOL If there is only one team entered in any Open Division within the same category, Legacy Cheer & Dance will combine Open with Open Coed TINY AND MINI DIVISIONS Legacy Cheer & Dance will split Tiny and Mini divisions within the same category (Pom, Jazz or Hip Hop), into Small & Large if there are 10 or more teams in the division before the split occurs. There must be at least 3 teams in each division once the split occurs. CROSSOVERS Dancers may compete in more than one division and/or category as long as they abide by the age restrictions of that divisions.
*Basket tosses are not allowed in any Legacy All Star Prep division. All other USASF rules apply as normal. THE INFORMATION BELOW IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE ALL-STAR PREP (SCHOOLS/ COMMUNITY TEAMS) AGE GRID: *NOTE: Legacy All-Star Prep divisions are defined below. DUE TO VARIANCES IN THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY MAKE-UP AND SPECIFIC INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT NEEDS, THE ALL-STAR PREP DIVISIONS FOR LEGACY ARE NOT THE SAME AS USASF DEFINED ALL-STAR PREP DIVISIONS. In general, Legacy s all-star prep divisions are a combination of school and community programmes. SEE BELOW FOR MORE INFORMATION. ALL-STAR PREP (SCHOOL/COMMUNITY) DIVISION AVAILABILITY All-Star Prep (School/Community) divisions will be offered at every Legacy competition. ROLE OF ALL-STAR PREP DIVISIONS Our goal is to allow school teams, smaller community teams, and developmental teams within larger programmes a great place to compete at a more local level and also allow for developing teams (for various reasons) a viable option for competition in an All-Star type of environment. The overall goal is to preserve the existing All-Star divisions and open new opportunities for success within smaller programmes or developing teams. The intent is that success within the All-Star Prep divisions will fuel smaller community and school based programmes with knowledge and experience to eventually move up to full All-Star divisions. Scoring grids for All-Star Prep teams are built on a developmental scale to help teams make the necessary steps towards mastery as they progress. DEFINITION OF SCHOOL TEAMS School Teams are defined as cheer and/or dance teams based in a school. Coaching can come from within the school or from an independent contractor coach as long as the athletes all attend the school being represented by the team.
DEFINITION OF COMMUNITY TEAMS Community Teams are defined as either: Any single-location gym/programme that has no more than 30 athletes in their athlete roster for the entire programme at the time of the competition. OR Any team within a larger programme that is specifically a developmental team for the All-Star Programme by definition that every athlete on the All-Star Prep team roster has competed 3 times or less at the time of entry and/or is competing in their first competitive season. RESTRICTIONS FOR ALL-STAR PREP TEAMS Basket tosses are not allowed at any level of All Star Prep Divisions. Crossovers from traditional all-star teams to school teams are allowed for up to 50% of the team. Note that crossover athletes from two programmes (i.e.- school and all-star) will pay first division entries for both routines. Discounted second and third entry only applies when athletes are competing within the same programme, regardless of where the invoice goes. Please contact Legacy Cheer & Dance prior to registration if you have any questions and we will be happy to assist you. All-Star Prep teams fielded from larger gyms as developmental teams are limited to 2 All-Star Prep teams per event. ALLOWANCES FOR ALL-STAR PREP TEAMS All-Star Prep teams can elect to compete within traditional All-Star divisions if they wish. Simply register in the appropriate division at the time of registration. If you are an All Star Prep team who opts to compete in an All Star Cheer division of Level 2 or above, basket tosses are allowed in those divisions at the said competition, even if you competed as All Star Prep at previous competitions in the season. ELIGIBILITY ENFORCEMENT Legacy Cheer & Dance expects coaches, athletes, and parents to maintain the integrity of this division by honoring the full requirements to meet community team standards. If necessary, Legacy Event Directors reserve the right to ask for documentation that All-Star Prep teams meet the criteria for these divisions. Failure to adhere to All-Star Prep requirements may result in disqualification and ineligibility to field All-Star Prep teams for a full season. All decisions are final. TEAM SIZE The maximum team size is 30 competitors. Note this variation from traditional All-Star divisions. LENGTH OF ROUTINE The maximum routine time for Legacy s All-Star Prep divisions is 2 minutes 30 seconds. Note this is different than USA based All-Star Prep divisions. There is no minimum time limit for All-Star Prep teams, but Legacy recommends at least 2 minutes whenever possible to encourage ability to fit in all scoring elements within a given routine. COMPETITOR AGE The age of the competitor as of 31 August 2015 will be the age used for competition purposes throughout the 2015-2016 season for all divisions.
COMPETITOR AGE RANGE Legacy Cheer & Dance recognizes the concern with fielding teams of a broad age range and highly recommends that individual gyms/programmes be vigilant in monitoring participants of various ages on the same team and that, whenever possible, a team s composition is made up of participants of similar ages. ATHLETE REPLACEMENT WITHIN A GIVEN ROUTINE The athletes who perform a routine must remain the same from start to finish and MAY NOT be replaced by another athlete at anytime during the performance. CROSSOVERS FROM ONE PROGRAMME TO ANOTHER An individual may crossover from one programme to another programme within the same event, to one additional team only. An athlete CANNOT compete on two teams within the same division. If an athlete crosses on to another programme, they will pay First Entry for that additional programme s entry, not the crossover fee. Crossover limitations above do not include athletes who crossover from cheer to dance.
**RECOMMENDED: For the 2015-2016 season, Legacy highly recommends a maximum age of 22 for all senior teams. We understand this is not always possible so it is not a requirement for this season. Meanwhile, Legacy will explore open conversation throughout the 2015-2016 season related to the possibilities for implementing an age cap system for upcoming seasons. Over time, this will allow for a more defined range between youngest and oldest athletes on a
given team to reflect best practice. It will also allow Open teams to have opportunities for growth. Note that if senior age caps are implemented, all levels for Open teams will continue to be offered, which allows athletes new to the sport a place to participate on a continued basis once they age out of seniors. TEAM SIZE The maximum size for a team is 32 competitors on the floor, except for levels 5 & 6 as noted. COMPETITOR AGE The age of the competitor as of 31 August 2015 will be the age used for competition purposes throughout the 20152016 season for all divisions. SPECIAL ATHLETE TEAMS Special Athlete divisions are limited to Level 2 rules, in addition to no basket tosses permitted. UNIVERSITY TEAMS Legacy allows a 10% allowance for non-university students(alumni) within the rosters of university based teams. All other rostered members need to be enrolled students for the university represented on their main campus or satellite campuses. ATHLETE REPLACEMENT WITHIN A GIVEN ROUTINE The athletes who perform a routine must remain the same from start to finish and MAY NOT be replaced by another athlete at anytime during the performance. WHEN TO MERGE DIVISIONS: DIVISION MERGE PROTOCOL FOR SENIOR 5 AND SENIOR 5 RESTRICTED Sr 5 & Sr 5 Restricted These divisions may not be combined into one division DIVISION MERGE PROTOCOL FOR JUNIOR CO-ED 5 For Junior Co-ed 5, if there is only ONE co-ed team competing, then the all girl and one co-ed team must be combined into one Junior Level 5 division. If the Junior teams were split into Small & Large, then the Co-Ed team must be placed with the teams closest to its size. DIVISION MERGE PROTOCOL FOR SENIOR CO-ED 3 AND 4 For Senior Co-Ed 3 and 4, if there is only ONE co-ed team competing in a respective level, then that level must be combined into one Senior division (ie. Four Senior 3 teams and one Senior Coed 3 team = Five Senior Level 3 teams for competition). If the Senior teams were split into Small and Large, then the Co-Ed team must be placed with the teams closest to its size. WHEN TO SPLIT DIVISIONS: DIVISION SPLIT BY SIZE
Divisions will be split into divisions as follows if there will be at least 2 teams in each of the Small and Large divisions.small = 5-20 athleteslarge = 21-32 athletes* *Note exceptions for Senior Level 5 teams with up to 36 athletes on the age grid above with splits allocated for small, medium, and large teams. Legacy Cheer & Dance will split the Senior Level 5 division into Small and/or Medium and/ or Large divisions when there are at least FIVE teams that will ultimately be registered in each respective division. The designation of Small, Medium and Large divisions must follow the team sizes below:small = 5 20 membersmedium = 21 30 memberslarge = 31 36 members A/B SPLIT If after splitting divisions into Small and Large ( Medium for Senior Level 5) there are 10 or more teams in the Small or Large division, Legacy Cheer & Dance may split that division further by squad size. If splitting further by size, Division A or Division B designation will be used.no divisions will be subdivided further from Small or Large if it means that only one team will be left in a division. CROSSOVER ATHLETES Crossover athletes are athletes who participate in more than one competitive routine. Legacy Cheer & Dance recognizes that some programmes must utilise crossover athletes to field the strongest teams possible on limited numbers of athletes. However, it is expected that all teams and athletes compete at the highest suitable level based on their skill mastery. Crossover athletes are recommended (but not required) to crossover within +1 or -1 level of their primary division. (In other words, Legacy expects teams will not make a level 2 team with a large number of crossovers from level 4.) For the benefit of the entire cheer and dance community, we ask all teams to use discretion and strong ethical decision making when it comes to crossover athletes. Crossover limitations above do not include athletes that crossover from cheer to dance.
STUNT GROUPS Stunt Group divisions are available at all Legacy competitions for the 2015-2016 season. To be eligible to enter LIVE YOUR LEGACY National Championships, stunt groups must have competed at a Legacy Regional or Super Regional event with the same stunt group name and division/level. Legacy retains these records and Nationals entries will be cross-referenced at the time of registration so please plan accordingly if you would like the option to compete a stunt group at LIVE YOUR LEGACY. LIMITS ON STUNT GROUPS Legacy reserves the rights to limit the number of stunt groups at any event to allow for the best scheduling experience for everyone. LENGTH OF ROUTINE Stunt Group maximum time limit is 1 minute 15 seconds.
