Guest speaker, a PAC Rally hero. Family and friends invited. Please book by Monday 12 th January with gladfish@netspace.net.au. Club Night Monday 1 December AGM Guest speaker was Abbiola from 4Cs Crisis Relief Centre. She told us of many needy families in and around Pakenham, this made us very pleased with the amazing array of toys that we gave her that members had donated as well as the huge cash donation from those at the meeting, we hope this resulted in some extra smiling faces on Christmas day. Tim Craig reported, with photos, of his involvement in the 2014 Variety Bash. This was also the PAC Annual General Meeting, your new committee were elected and are listed elsewhere in this OilRag. We are still short of a couple of Committee people so why don t you volunteer for a committee position? We finished the meeting with a delicious spread of lots of yummy food. Please contact Glad gladfish@netspace.net.au or ring 0410148058 if you can help. Club Night 2 March Visit to Master Motor Body Repairs Con Spadaro (former PAC member) has invited PAC to visit his Master Motor Body Repairs in Doherty St Pakenham at 8pm. A Few Words Editorial & President s Prattle If you weren t at the AGM, you may have missed the fact that I was elected to the position of PAC President for the 2015 club year. My first task is to publicly thank Leon for steering the club through the last few years. Leon has decided to take a sabbatical this year, but will still be assisting from behind the scenes. Also, many thanks to retiring Treasurer, Kim Dalgarno, and Membership Secretary, Alan Bloomfield; between these two, many, many years of committee service have been racked up. I d like to welcome the incoming committee John Hill has taken on the Vice Presidential role as well as continuing to look after the grounds and our interests on the Cardinia Motor Sports Working Group Glad Fish is our new Secretary and will continue to look after most of the roles she had last year but she has too many responsibilities so we need a volunteer or two to help out Rob Sanderson has enthusiastically taken on the role of Treasurer after joining the committee part way through last year Mick Kelly has returned to the committee after a few years break and will be looking after Membership Tim Stuchbery joins the committee and will look after Speed matters Peter Morrison has remained on the committee to look after the Rally side of the club Larry Kogge will continue to be the Club Permit Scheme Co-ordinator Eddie Metz continues as the Junior Club Competiton Car Co-ordinator. We have the nucleus of a hard working committee, but there is room for more members to help out either in a full committee position or to work in the background on Club Merchandise specific projects. If you can spare a little time to work on behalf of the club, please ring me on 0427443821 or email president@pakenhamautoclub.org.au. Oh, by the way, I am continuing in the position of Editor; so, please send your articles, photos, etc. to editor@pakenhamautoclub.org.au for inclusion in the next issue of OilRag. Glad and I have decided that 2015 will be our year for training new event organisers. We have only a few licensed to run CAMS events, so we are going all out to ensure more club members qualify to run them. By the start of 2016 we aim to have a full calendar of events at McGregor Rd with a different CoC for each. So, if you would like to learn how to run events, please contact Glad or I to make it happen (or say yes when we approach you). The basic process is simple assist on an event as a timekeeper or road closure official and fill in a Trainee Licence application form. Then contact CAMS to get a link for the online training/assessment module to become a General Official. Follow that up or at the same time get a link from CAMS for the Event Command online training module. Then get your name on the paperwork as Assistant CoC for a club motorkhana with Glad and/or me as CoC. Do all the paperwork, set up and on the day running of the motorkhana and Glad and I will complete the assessment form and you are done. After that, you merely need to run an event every year or two to maintain your qualification. The following regular items are available by contacting the merchandising officer Short Sleeve T-Shirt $12.50, $15.00 Ladies T-Shirt $16.00 Long Sleeve T-Shirt; 100% $15.00, $17.00 cotton Polo Shirt; Aussie made $23.00 Polo Shirt; Striped collar and $23.00, $25.00 cuffs Dress Shirt; Pale Blue $28.50 from Nick Wright Nick Wind Cheater $20.00, $23.00 Fleecy Vest $25.00 Caps; Navy $11.50 Wide Brim and Bucket Hats; $10.00 Navy Polar Fleece $36.00 Beanie $11.50 4

Motorkhana/Khanacross Supplementary Regulations Non-Speed News All PAC directed events must include the following information in Supplementary Regulations, from Glad Fish Non-Speed Co-ordinator Competitors as Officials As a condition of entry, all drivers agree to act as Officials at the event if requested by the Clerk of Course to do so. Photography of Competitors I give permission for PAC to photograph or video me/the minor participating in this event and to use that image in promoting or advertising the Club and its activities including but not limited to Club Magazine, Club Website, articles for inclusion in news and other media. PAC Event Entry Fees for 2015 Club and Multi-Club Motorkhana $10, Early entry adults $20, Junior םם Late entry adults $30, Junior $15 םם Club and Multi-Club Khanacross Early entry adults $30, Junior $15 םם $20. Late entry adults $45, Junior םם Recent Events Saturday 13 December PAC Come and Try The ten participants at the final Come and Try for 2014 included two girls, Jess, and the one who gained the reputation of breaking cars (welcome to PAC, Rebecca). There were two young PAC members, Nicholas and Christian, following in their Dad s footsteps (no doubt another dad who will soon be beaten by his sons), three new lads (we look forward to seeing Bradley, Jake and Jarryd at future competition), one repeat lad, Patrick, who is making very good progress and 17 year old twins Faiz and Firdaus, who used the opportunity to gain more basic knowledge and understanding of car control. It was a privilege working with these young people and we look forward to seeing them at future club events. Sunday 14 December PAC Novelty Motorkhana This was Rob Sanderson s first event as a director, I would like to congratulate him on the outstanding job he did. Immaculate preevent work ensured success on the day. The event consisted mainly of novelty tests that are not in the CAMS Motorkhana Tests Booklet. These tests proved to be quite challenging, especially when the navigator had to move flags, buckets etc. The water test was a test of smooth driving (can t understand how I managed to do so well in it). The need for navigators in several tests saw very competitive partnerships forming, such as Ray and Ian. It also gave the timekeepers an opportunity to participate in the competition. We will definitely have another novelty event next year. Coming Events Saturday 17 January PAC Annual Test and Tune Day. Book-in from 12 noon. Driving starts at 1 pm. Participation $10 per driver (only for drivers entered in Sunday s khanacross other drivers may be accepted subject to the field limit not being reached and with a fee to be determined). We will have some of the top PAC drivers from rallies and autocrosses to give drivers some driving tips. Any queries contact John Hill jgmhill@virginbroadband.com.au. Sunday 18 January PAC Multi-Club Khanacross. The first PAC competition event for 2015. Following the Test and Tune the day before, we should all be ready to show what we have learnt and set some fantastic times. Further information and Supp Regs available on www.pakenhamautoclub.org.au or contact John Hill 56254049 or jgmhill@virginbroadband.com.au. continued on page 6 5

Motorkhana/Khanacross Saturday 31 January Come and Try Day Bring a young friend, (12-18 years) get them involved in Motorsport in a supportive and safe club environment, parents are invited to attend and be involved. While learning competitive motor sport skills, participants will also be developing safe driving habits that can be applied when driving on public roads. Supplementary Regulations and entry forms will be available on www.pakenhamautoclub.org.au or contact Glad gladfish@netspace.net.au or 0410148058. We received a thank you from car 181 in Variety Bash 2014. GCC, NCCA & PCCV have agreed to exchange electronic newsletters to save labour and costs. Grounds are in good condition at the moment, considerable mowing has been done. Caravan to be stripped of usable parts (windows etc.). Base may be suitable for a trailer. Remains to be got rid of. Batteries to be stored in metal tradesman s box. Grounds Fee Policy and Hire Fee to be same as 2014. Successful Come & Try days in November and December sponsored by CAMS. Working with Children checks are likely to be needed for Come & Try instructors in future. December Novelty Motorkhana, good concept, well attended. Some reductions made to entry fees for PAC 2015 events e.g.multi-club motorkhana, early entry adults $20. No change to PAC ground hire fee after comparing with similar venues. Ongoing discussion between Nick Wright and Peter Morrison re a joint submission to VRAP to standardise control entry procedure for A-B and A-A rallies and make it easier for control officials to run either type. 6 Non-Speed News Secretarial Section Notes from Committee Meetings New PAC meeting venue, Lakeside Lutheran College at $50 per session. Big meeting room, video equipment, use of kitchen, plenty of parking. Junior Programme for 2015. Monthly events, Charge $5 with sponsorship to cover CAMS Licences. Free instruction, free use of PAC club cars. Honorary membership to PAC valid for one year (CAMS licence is also for 1 year). A good way to attract new members to the club. PAC have applied for a CAMS Development Fund grant, or may have to consider other sponsorship to keep offering this service to young people. Community groups have shown interest in our Junior training program. continued from page 5 Sunday 1 February PAC Motorkhana Another new trainee director, one of PAC s top motorkhana competitors, Ray Garrad is directing this event. As a regular competitor we can expect a good event with some challenging tests from Ray. Supplementary Regulations and entry forms will soon be available on www.pakenhamautoclub.org.au or contact Ray raygarrad505@gmail.com or 0415415565.
