Christmas Trees As you all know, Foundry United Methodist Church, the church where our meetings are held, has been very good to the Club over the years. Well they will be selling Christmas trees at the Church and could use your support. So if you are planning on buying a live Christmas check to see what they have to offer, or pass the word out to others that may be looking for a tree. Thanks Katie and Kevin Synoweic Katie Synoweic was featured in the Off the Hook article on the Pilot on Line for her Tog catches. This was on November 1, 2009. Katie was just getting over the H1N1 flu virus and still managed some very impressive fish. If you get a chance check out the article at the PilotOnline.com. Katie had one Tog that weighed a whopping 11 pounds - 2 pounds heavier than the minimum for a statesponsored citation from the Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament. Great Job Katie!!!

Surf Fishing Report Looking back at the 2009 surf fishing teams, we did pretty well as a whole. All the teams finished their tournaments in at least the top half of the field and both of the Hatteras Village Tournament teams finished in the top 25% of the field. The Cape Hatteras Angler s Club Tournament was a clear demonstration of how the luck-of-the-draw can affect the outcome of a tournament. The hot area in this tournament was in the stretch north of the point to ramp 43 at the parking lot just past the fish cleaning station. The top 10 teams all had sites in this area. The first place team (Drag Setters) had 100 fish for 195 points from this area and won the tournament with 218 points total. The second place team (The Rising Tide) caught 102 fish for 199 points from their site and finished with 207 points total. This shows that outside of this area the pickings were pretty slim. Unfortunately we did not draw any site in this area. That being considered, we did have a very respectful 33 rd place finish out of 120 teams. There is a list of all the tournaments, how many fish we caught for how many points, where we finished in the field and who will be returning on next year s teams. There is still some good surf fishing to be done between now and the end of the year so don t put the long rods away just yet! Tight Lines!! Robbie Parks Surf Fishing Committee Chairman
Club Photos Jerry Mariano and Russell Willoughby after a trip with Bob Stulhman on the Kitchen Pass The Kitchen Pass Don and I took the 14 ft alum boat to Panama City Beach again in early November to catch King Mackeral. When we take this boat into large bodies of water like the Gulf of Mexico, we call it a "little boat adventure". The weather was warm and perfect all week, and the fish were very cooperative. Caught Kings, large Spanish, and large False Albacores. It is always a thrill to have one of these fish hit your lure and to hear the line screaming out of the reel. Melanie & Don Bayford
Tournament News Big Hatteras Surf Fishing Tournament Julie Ball, Steve Wray, Jerry Hughes, Larry Regula, Robbie Parks, and George Schuchman all competed in the 2009 Cape Hatteras Anglers Club Invitational Surf Fishing Tournament. Hearing from these competitors it was a case of being at the right place, and in these tournaments it s the luck of the draw. The team finished 33 rd with 42 fish and 70 points. Great job, I have fished these tournaments and know how hard it can be to catch scoring fish. Steve Wray Robbie Parks George Schuchman Larry Regula
