ENGLISH STYLE OPEN KOI SHOW: This show is an English style of competition for all varieties of koi where each entrant s koi are kept together in that entrant s tank(s). The competition is open to all hobbyists and exhibitors whether or not members of a recognized Koi club or society. Once a Koi has won Grand Champion at a Koi Show sponsored by the Camellia Koi Club, it is no longer eligible in that category in subsequent CKC shows. The only exception being the Grand Champion of a CKC Young Koi Show may compete in the open category in subsequent shows. KOI FISH REGISTRATION AND IDENTIFICATION: Check in of Koi for all entrants will be available on Friday 3pm to 7 PM, and Saturday between 8 AM and 9:30 AM. Late arrivals after 9:30 AM Saturday will neither be accepted nor judged. We will be taking digital photos of all koi entered into the show. Fish identification, not including owner s name(s), will be printed and hung on the side of the tank using these digital photos. After judging is complete updated identification listing award(s) will be printed and hung for public viewing. CONDITION OF FISH DURING TRANSPORTATION AND EXHIBITION AT THE SHOW Very Important: For the health and safety of your fish, DO NOT FEED THEM FOR 5 DAYS PRIOR TO THE SHOW. Fish with undigested food require more oxygen, excrete contaminants into the water, and are more easily stressed. Be sure that your koi are in good health. KOI WITH SIGNS OF SICKNESS OR PARASITES WILL BE DISQUALIFIED! Look your Koi over carefully top to bottom before you bring them. This year we will be more strict than ever so even a wound or sore that is healing will disqualify a koi. The decision of the Show Chairman will be final in this matter. If you live in the greater Sacramento area, you will be asked to take your disqualified koi home immediately. Injuries considered temporary in nature would be overlooked. HANDLING DURING TRANSPORTION AND EXHIBITION Only the members of the koi show fish handling committee will handle fish during the show. Anyone wishing to inspect fish must receive permission from the Show Chairman. PARTICIPANTS: Koi owners (participants) are expected to provide a blue plastic tub and a koi net of the proper type and size for each tank of fish in that exhibit. However, if the participant has more than one fish entered into the same size and class, additional nets and tubs would be appreciated to facilitate the judging. The benching team will label each piece of equipment for use by tank number. 5

ACCEPTANCE OF FISH INTO THE COMPETITION After checking in with the registration committee, paying fees and receiving the fish's exhibit number, exhibitors must remain in the area until the fish has been accepted into the competition and placed into the exhibition tank by the benching team. Entrants having multiple tanks may designate which of their koi go into which tank as long as the tank load criteria are maintained. Fish must not be moved without notifying the registration desk. Fish that are not in their registered exhibition tank at the time of judging will not be judged. After registration, the benching team completes a load estimate sheet. Each fish will be measured and assigned a class. Only the Show Chairman s designated handlers will handle all Koi. Each fish will receive a health examination for signs of disease and/or parasites. Fish that fail the health examination will be disqualified. The Show Chairman will resolve questions about health or classification eligibility of the koi. The decision of the Show Chairman is final. All entries must be left on exhibit for the duration of the show until 3pm Sunday. All reasonable precautions will be taken to provide a healthful environment and to safeguard the koi during the show. However, registration is completed with the understanding that the participant agrees to hold the, the AKCA, Old Sugar Mill their officers, directors, and members, harmless against any loss, sickness, or injury to the fish. RELEASE OF FISH AFTER THE SHOW At the close of the show, Sunday about 3PM, each participant will be polled to ensure that all their koi are in their assigned tank(s). All entrants must be present at that time to gather and claim their koi. Even though no koi except for Grand Champion and Runner-Up Grand Champion should have been moved out of their assigned tanks, no Koi will be allowed to be bagged or removed until all koi are identified to the satisfaction of all entrants, and officially released by the Show Chairman. Out of Towner s will be given priority for koi removal and CKC members will assist them as desired. At the close of the show, the show committee will provide oxygen and rubber bands and carts for you to transport your fish to your vehicle. Plastic bags will be available if you need them. All fish must be packed and picked up by 5 PM Sunday, September 2, 2018. Any fish unclaimed by 6 PM will be considered a donation to the Camellia Koi Club. 6

JUDGING THE COMPETITION This show uses the English style of judging. Exhibitors are assigned an exhibition tank provided by the club for their fish. The fish remain in the assigned tank for the entire term of the show. Winning fish will not be transferred to tanks with fish of other exhibitors. Trophy winners may be transferred to other unoccupied tanks with the permission of the owner. Equipment used to handle the fish will not be exchanged with other tanks unless sterilized. Only the fish handlers and Judges are permitted to catch and touch the fish. All persons will sterilize equipment and their hands between handling fish from different tanks. Prior to judging, the Show Chairman will verify that all Koi are entered in their proper class and size. If an error is discovered prior to Judging corrections will be made, errors discovered during judging will be corrected during judging if it is possible without disrupting the flow of the show. Judging will begin at 11 AM Saturday, September 1, 2018. Judges are by the Associated Koi Clubs of America (AKCA). The competitive decision of the Judges is final. Only those persons with an assignment directly related to supporting the competition are allowed in the show circle of tanks during judging. Any situation involving a fish entry not clearly covered by these rules will be decided by the Show Chairman. During judging efforts will be made to allow participants to listen to the Judge s comments. However, all participants and spectators must refrain from communicating with the Judges. As in golf, quiet is required in the judging area. Unhealthy fish will be disqualified. Permanently disfiguring scars or deformities will lower the competitive score. Injuries considered temporary in nature would be overlooked. If errors are discovered, the Judges may make corrections to measurements and classifications but are not required to do so. All classes with entries will be judged. If there are several highly competitive fish in a class, the Judges may award more than one honorable mention. All fish that receive first prize in class are eligible to compete for Best in Size trophies and higher awards. The Judges will allow move ups for the higher trophy awards of Grand Champion, and Reserve Champion and Best in Variety categories. The Judge's Award (if provided) will be chosen by the Judges for a fish of merit. Other awards, such as friendship awards may be donated. Any other trophies and recognition may be awarded according to the rules selected by the representatives appointed by the donor/sponsors of the award. 7
