MAY 2011 Next meeting June 13th at 7:30 p.m. - June Shoot on the 19th at 9:00 a.m. Sharp BUFFALO SHOOT HUGE SUCCESS MAY SHOOT VERY COLD AND WINDY!!! HORSE NAMED SON OF SAM 1
Hello everyone.well, we had a beautiful month for our shoots. As far as I could tell, everyone seemed to have a great time at both the monthly shoot and our Spring Buffalo Shoot. At the Buffalo Shoot, I got a lot of sun (I forgot to use a sunscreen that I brought) as did some of the other shooters. As to shooting the Prairie Bovines, I couldn't hit a bull's butt with a bass fiddle. My wife, Annie Gunsinger, did pretty good very nice if we could get some other shooters showing up at around 8 AM to help us move around all the steel targets. At our next business meeting (June 13 th ) we will be accepting nominations for the coming year's Board of Directors. If you are interested in how our club is run, please come to this meeting to nominate the members which you'd think would do a good job. Just remember to talk to the person you wish to nominate before you bring the name up at the meeting. It's nice to find out the person you want to nominate will accept the nomination before you make a nomination. The actual election will occur in July. In closing, I would like to thank everyone for making this Buffalo shoot a damn nice get together. That also goes for the monthly shoot. I am looking forward to burning powder with yawl this summer. That's all for now from the grumpy old coot. Shotgun Marshal And I'm sure I'll be hearing about it until the next shoot. My son, Dude, also shot a lot better than "the old man". I guess "the old man's" eyesight isn't what it used to be. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! The shoot breakdown (for the monthly shoot and Buffalo Shoot) seemed to go very well. Everything seemed to come down and get stowed away in a very efficient manner. We seem to be having only one problem and that is the set up of our shoots. Sam doesn't say much about it but he could use a lot more help setting up for our monthly shoot. As our summer shoot start at 9 AM, Sam brings the target trailer (from his house) at about 7:30 AM Sunday morning. He gets to the range at about 7:45 AM and starts setting up the targets even if no one else is there. I also get there at about the same time to help him set up. Now I know this may be news to you, but old Sam and I are not as young as we used to be. It would be 6 th Eldorado (Pat Bagan) 14 h Tahoe Bill (Bill Banning) 17 h Mc Buck (Stephen McKenzie) 19 h Ornery Gus (Ken Johnson) 23 rd Tumbleweed Ed (Edward Keller) 24 th Fernley (Roy Edgington) 2
Howdy cowboy and cowgirls... Thanks for all the shooters that showed up at our May shoot. It was a little cool and VERY windy, but we didn t have any trouble getting through it. Everybody seemed to like the stages, and seemed to have fun with them. Nice to have Irish Ike shoot with us. Thanks to everyone else who came out and shot. Want to welcome Elena, who shot her first Buffalo Shoot. Hope she enjoyed it and comes back in October. Thanks to everyone who cooked and brought food for our potluck Saturday night, we sure had some good food and a lot of it. Winchester went home and brought Sally back for this, and boy did she look nice, all dressed up and of course he did too. Hoped everyone had a good time. Thanks to everyone who helped set-up and take down, as again it was appreciated. Hopefully it will be a little warmer next month, see you all there, keep your powder dry.... Concerning the Buffalo Shoot, want to thank Shotgun Marshall for helping me repair the buffalo s for the shoot. Also want to thank Marshall, Bonnie and Dude for helping me set up the buffalos and everyone who pitched in and set up the shooting position area and taking it all down. Thanks Winchester for helping me remove them on 1, 2 and 3 yards on Saturday. Dude helped me take down 4 and 5, thanks. There were quite a few of us camping, and we sure had a good time. Anne Goldy, Dude and Marshall served us Buffalo steak Thursday night, and it sure was good. After we sat by the campfire, and the weather was not too cold. Had beautiful weather and hope everyone will come back in October. Sam Friday we had our sight-ins, and also some fun throwing axes at a log. Hope everyone had fun doing it. NOMINATIONS REMEMBER WE NEED YOU TO NOMINATE MEMBERS WHO YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE SERVE OUR CLUB AS PRESIDENT, VICE PRESIDENT, SECRETARY, SERGEANT AT ARMS AND MEMBERS AT LARGE, BY OUR JUNE MEETING. THIS IS YOUR CLUB, SO PLEASE SEND IN YOUR THOUGHTS. 3
