The Conditions applying to this competition can be accessed by CLICKING HERE. To view the Final Programme of entries CLICK HERE. If you believe that your name is missing, please contact Bernie Buck bernie.buck22@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE: Due to increasing numbers of competitors, all warm ups have been split into three 20 minute slots. Further details on warm up and swim down can be found on page 6 & 7. Important event information will be posted on the Event Notice Boards located in the foyer and next to the diving pit. The Official Programme and list of entries will be available online at no cost for this event. A link will be distributed to all competitors ahead of the event. Printed programmes will not be available, however start lists will be available in designated locations on poolside The Resolution Desk can be found just inside the entrance to the timing suite from poolside. All swimmers are directed to the Resolution Desk as access to the Timing Suite is limited. The Resolution Desk will manage queries including but not limited to Withdrawals, Re-Entry and Relay Declarations. Competitors entering the 400m Individual Medley and 400m, 800m and 1500m Freestyle events are required to confirm their intention to swim by re-entering at the Resolution Desk before the start of the warm up of the session in which the events will be swum. Competitors in other events are not required to re-enter. Deadline: 75 minutes before the start of the session. This can also be done over the phone, 07563 750 846, texts messages and voicemails will not be accepted. You must speak to a person. There is no marshalling area for this event, it is your responsibility to report to your designated lane in good time before the start of your heat, so that you are ready for the start. Please note that should you miss your heat for whatever reason, you will not be able to swim in a later heat. If you have entered an event you wish to withdraw from, please follow the withdrawal procedure. Refunds will not be made. The withdrawal process relies upon swimmers co-operation to keep the number of empty lanes to a minimum. If you do not intend to swim, please withdraw from your event as early as possible to avoid creating an empty lane. To withdraw from an event by 17:00 27 October: Email: bernie.buck22@gmail.com 4 P a g e

To withdraw from an event after 8am 28 October: You will need to withdraw in person at the Resolutions Desk, located in the Timings Suite, or by telephone 07563 750 846. Text messages and voicemails will not be accepted. You must speak to someone. The men s events will be held in the pool at the scoreboard end and the women s events will be held in the pool at the diving pit end of the competition pool. Mixed events, including relay team events will be split between the two pools, so make sure you know which pool your heat you will be using. If competition in one pool finishes significantly before the other, the promoter reserves the right to split the remaining heats between the two pools. If this is deemed necessary, information will be communicated to the swimmers through announcements and the competitor stewards. Start sheets and results for all events will be on display on the Event Notice Boards located in the foyer and next to the diving pool. They can alternatively be found online, how to locate these will be displayed at the above locations. Start sheets will be available for viewing 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the session. Where smaller age groups are combined in the same heat, competitors and relay teams in the same age group will be seeded in adjacent lanes. 100M, 200M, & 400M Events Swimmers will be graded from slowest to fastest by entry time, with all age groups swimming together, except for the final heat which shall be spearheaded. 800M & 1500M The 800M and 1500M shall be swum as mixed events, with men and women being seeded together by time. 5 P a g e

Please print the form, complete it and return it to the Resolution Desk at the event or email it to Bernie Buck (Bernie.buck22@gmail.com) up to 5pm 27 October. Please be reminded that all swimmers in relay teams must have registered using the online entry form. Swimmers not registered will not be allowed to swim. Swimmers are reminded that they may only represent one club in both individual events and relay events during this competition. Changes to clubs represented will NOT be allowed during the competition. Swimmers are reminded to follow the instructions given below and any additional instructions from event staff. This will ensure we can give all competitors the best warm up facilities available. Men will warm up in the scoreboard end pool and women in the diving pit end pool. Diving is prohibited in all warm up sessions except in designated sprint lanes. Restrict your warm ups to the session in which you are competing. Practise backstroke starts in designated sprint lanes only. When resting/ stopping keep to the corners of the lane. When entering the water, slip in smoothly, do not jump or dive in. Choose the lane where the swimmers best match your speed. Be conscious that others are also warming up. Please note that fins, bungees, hand paddles and snorkels are not allowed at this event. If you are not swimming until the end of a session, you may like to wait until the competition has started and warm up in the diving pit. 6 P a g e

The warms ups will be in three periods of 20 mins each. The exception being the 1500m, where all age groups will warm up together (Session 1). The first warm up period in Session 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 will be for those aged 50 years and over, the second period for those aged 36 years to 49 years and the third period for those 35 years and under. These arrangements have been made to make the best use of warm up facilities, given the number of swimmers in each session. However, some warm ups will remain very crowded. If you are not swimming in the early part of a session, you are encouraged to use the diving pit for your warm up after the start of the session. The diving pit will be available throughout the meet, with six lanes. There will be signs indicating the direction of swimming in each lane, please adhere to these and no diving. The Executive Director may change warm up timings at his discretion. Please listen for any such announcements. Please follow the guidance of Warm up Marshals at all times. Thank you to those who have volunteered to marshal the warm up sessions. We need your help to make this event a success and are still looking for Warm up Marshals for session 7. If you can help, please email David Groves (david.groves@swimming.org) to register. For those new to this role, a briefing will be provided for all Warm Up Marshals prior to commencing the role. Thank you in advance for your assistance in providing a safe environment for swimmers to warm up. All swimwear must comply with FINA requirements. It is not permitted to wear swimwear with a zipper or other fastening systems. For your information, this does not include drawstring etc. in jammers which are provided to maintain modesty. If you need more information please refer to FINA General Rule GR5 and By-Law BL8. Please note that only 1 suit may be worn. There will be a full set of 20 OSB12 starting blocks in the competition pool. These are the track-start design. Backstroke ledges will not be available. Competitors with a disability should refer to condition 7.1 in the event conditions. Which can be accessed by CLICKING HERE. Medals will be awarded to all swimmers and teams placed first, second and third in their age groups. Medals should be collected from the ASA Front Desk in the entrance foyer as soon after the declaration of results as possible. Medals should be picked up on the same day as the swim. Swimmers who break a World, European or British record will be presented with their medals on poolside and presentations will take place before the start of the next session. Please listen to announcements for information on when the presentation will take place. 7 P a g e

Whilst we aim to identify all World, European and British Records which are broken during the competition, remember that the ultimate responsibility for claiming a record lies with the swimmer(s) concerned. If you set a record and it is not announced, please inform the Resolution Desk as soon as possible. After the competition, if you notice a record has not been identified, please notify Helen Akers (helen.akers@swimming.org). There will be Sport Physios in attendance at this event who will be available at the following prices: 15 minutes - 10 30 minutes - 20 The physio will be based next to the Diving pool, by the Diving Officials Room. We would like to remind competitors that inappropriate behaviour towards ASA Event Staff, the Volunteer Stewards and the Volunteer Technical Officials, is in conflict with the principles of Masters Competition. If a competitor behaves in a manner likely to cause offence, action may be taken by the Executive Director, which may result in exclusion from the remainder of the competition if deemed appropriate. Competitors are reminded to take care when on poolside and on the stairs between poolside and spectator seating where at times the ground may be wet. Swimmers are encouraged to use lockers to safely store their belongings. Belongings brought onto poolside are brought at athletes, team and event staff s own risk. The ASA and Ponds Forge will not be responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged items. There will not be a doctor present at these Championships. Pool staff will administer first aid where necessary. If medical assistance is required, please approach the nearest event staff/volunteer or member of Ponds Forge staff, who will contact a first aider. A Photo Opportunity back drop will be available in the foyer for you to use for your photographs, perhaps with your medal or with your team. If you find any lost property during the event or if you have lost an item of your property during the event, please visit the Resolution Desk. In order for Masters Swimmers to know what times they need to attain for next year s ASA National Masters Championships the Masters Working group has released the qualifying times for publication 12 months in advance of the 2017 championships. The times are for each event in each age group. Please see the relevant Masters Calendar page for the table of qualifying times which have to be achieved within a period of 2 years immediately before the event, the calendar page can be accessed by CLICKING HERE. The times must have been swum at events whose results have been submitted to British Rankings, Masters or age group swimming. The qualifying times have been set using a method which is fair yet achievable for most competent swimmers. Using the 2015 results as a test these times would only have cut off the very slowest swimmers in some events in each age group. Meaning most swimmers would qualify for at least some events and still be able to enter the championships, whilst allowing the sessions to be manageable, and enabling swimmers to concentrate on their preferred or best races at this prestigious event. The Masters Working Group welcomes feedback on this initiative and will be happy to discuss this further at the Masters Conference on 12th November 2016. However they would respectfully ask that as the 2017 event will be the first time Masters Qualifying times have been used, feedback is realistic. A full review will take place after the 2017 Championships in November 2017. Good luck to everyone swimming. See you in Sheffield. Please click HERE to view our Data Protection and Notice Policy. 9 P a g e

We are all well aware of the wide range of devices including mobile telephones which have photographic and filming capabilities. This enables the capture of both static and moving images. It should be acknowledged that the majority of images taken within an ASA setting are appropriate and taken in good faith. However, images of children and adults can be misused and sharing images widely without consent may betray a confidence or identify a child or adult which could present a risk of harm to that individual if common sense procedures are not followed. The ASA encourage all spectators and participants at ASA events to make themselves familiar with the photography and filming arrangements for the event and be vigilant during that event. Should you have any concerns about photography or filming at the event, please bring this to the immediate attention of the ASA Event Officer present. This event will be photographed and may be filmed. Static and moving images will be displayed on the ASA website www.swimming.org and at the venue. They will be used to promote the sport at this event and events in the future. In addition the ASA may use these recordings and images for the purposes of education and training, swimmer analysis, promotion, performance, development and selection and event analysis. If you have any concerns about being photographed/filmed at ASA events, please speak to the ASA Event Officer present. If you wish to refuse consent, a Refusal of Consent Form is available from the ticket desk. 10 P a g e
