February 10, 2015 Volume 4, Issue 5 Cabot School District Healthy Panther Living Spring Fling 5K/Kids Fun Run March 21st The next staff wellness event is set for Saturday, March 21st. The Spring Fling 5k/Kids Fun Run Event will have individual and team events for staff members. Awards will be given for fastest female school employee, fastest male school employee, and highest percentage of school/ department participants. To enter for staff wellness prizes, please write on entry form the campus/department you represent. If students run in the Kids Fun Run, they will be given a medal and a shirt for participating. Even if you are not a runner, the Cabot Cruisers have walking division prizes. All participants will receive a shirt with their entry fee. This event is a certified RRCA Championship Event. They do not allow strollers on the course at any time. Pi Day 5K Run/Walk March 14th The Math Department at Cabot High School is proud to announce the Inaugural Pi Day 5K. This event is to celebrate the once in a century event that Pi Day falls on 3.14.15 (March 14, 2015). All event proceeds will help Mu Alpha Theta club students traveling to the national competition this summer. Proceeds will also go towards scholarships for seniors to help with college expenses. See page 5 of the February edition of Healthy Panther Living for an entry form and details. Registration, pre-party and postparty will be held at Panther Stadium. This Party of the Century will feature a D.J,. pie, and the possibility to pie some local celebrities in the face! This class is designed for anyone wanting to improve fitness and learn self -defense in a fun and safe environment. Matt began karate in 1993 as a sixth grader. He continued throughout school and while in the Air Force, he earned his black belt and began training in Tae-Kwon-Do and Max 2014-15 Staff Wellness Fitness Class Schedule Tuesdays/Thursdays - 4:30 pm Eastside Gym Body Sculpting Class Instructor: Lindsay Furrh Bishop s MMA. He opened his own martial arts school in Conway. Matt also holds a second degree black belt in Aiki-Jujitsu, an orange belt in Max Bishop s Mixed Martial Arts, a brown belt in karate, and a purple belt in Tae-Kwon-Do. In 2008, Matt sold his martial arts school to pursue his teaching degree and get married. Classes will begin February 23rd at Junior High North at 3:45 p.m. and This sculpting class is designed for those who need a low impact option to fitness. Participants in these classes will perform a variety of muscle toning activities for the arms, legs, and core that involve no impact and minimal stress to the heart and lungs.
