Hoos vs TERRAPINS The Cavaliers trail in the all time series, 36-17, and hold a 9-12 record at home. Virginia lost last year s match-up in College Park, 12-9 Virginia looks for redemption as Maryland has won the past six consecutive games of the series. Virginia s last win came in the 2008 ACC Championship game with a 10-9 overtime victory. The Cavaliers and Terrapins have battled every year since 1982, but also played in 78 and 79. Virginia and Maryland have faced each other eight times in NCAA play, with Maryland holding the edge 5-3. The recruiting class includes two pair of teammates, Preas and Valis from McDonogh School in Maryland, the No. 1-ranked team on the 2012 Max Preps Xcellent 25 Girls Lacrosse preseason rankings, and Dyson and Whitley from St. Stephens & St. Agnes in Alexandria, Va., the second-ranked school on that same list. Brown, Reese and Whitley have earned high school All-America honors 2013 captains Virginia women s lacrosse head coach Julie Myers announced that fourth-years Megan Dunleavy and Caroline McTiernan have been named captains for the 2013 season. Dunleavy, a defender from Fairfax Station, Va., is a two-time member of the All-ACC Academic team. Last season, she was second on the squad with 11 caused turnovers.
