Welcome to the New Hartford Welcome and thank you for choosing to participate in the New Hartford Winterguard Colorburst Competition being held on January 28th, 2017. Here is some important information we would like to share with you. Our main doors will open for spectators at 1:00 PM. Our National Anthem and announcements will begin at 2:00 PM. Tickets: Tickets will be available at the door for $6.00. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Each participating guard will be assigned a homeroom. Please make sure room(s) will get returned to the same condition in which they were found. Repair or replacement for broken or missing items will be the responsibility of the guard assigned to the room. Your guard members will be stamped here and directed to your room. Props and equipment should follow outdoor signs to their drop-off location We are thrilled to have such a turnout of groups coming to New Hartford. We have taken every measure to make sure we are able to make this event a great one for everyone involved. Because of this we are splitting the show into 2 awards Ceremonies all RA Scored Guards will compete and receive their awards. This will allow some younger groups to not have to stay the entire day. Please be aware that the show will begin at 2:00 and end at approx.. 8:00 PM. This makes for a long day for some groups. Keep in mind although we are making every effort to have additional remote show viewing, it can make for a long day for even the most seasoned groups. Colorburst Part 1: Colorburst Part 2: Critique Approx: 2:00PM-4:45PM 5:45PM- 8:00PM 8:00PM NOTE IF YOU WILL NOT BE STAYING FOR CRITQUE PLEASE MAKE THE CHIEF JUDGE AWARE SO WE CAN KEEP GROUPS MOVING FORWARD. In some cases JV and Varsity Guards will be sharing Classrooms due limited number of class rooms. This may happen for Guards with large gaps in times from JV to Varsity.

Where do I get my Score Sheet? The circuit is using Competition Suite and scores and comments will be sent to you through your phone, computer or other digital device. Your Groups Score sheet can be picked up at the end of the competing class. (The schedule includes Judges Breaks on wen they will push their scores) Once sores are in they will be printed. You can pick them up at the office in the back right hand corner in the Gym. Recaps for the first half will be provided after the first awards ceremony. You can pick them up at the same place so you will have them for critique at the end of the show. Please note only instructors and chaperones will be allowed in the guard area. If you have guard members going home with parents please make arrangements in advance to the parents meet them in the cafeteria. Video: We will be providing an area for you to video your own team. IMPORTANT: NO OTHER VIDEOING TAPEING WILL BE ALLOWED! FAILURE TO COMPLY CAN RESULT IN REMOVEL FROM THE SHOW. COPY RIGHT LAWS ARE STRICTLY INFORCED. Pre-Performance Announcements: All announcements should be typed and clearly labeled with your guard name and the time of your performance. Announcements should be turned in immediately upon check in. Please clarify wording with announcer when you do a sound check. You may also email announcements to Ken Dining at: kdining@metlife.com SOUND Music is being supplied by Bob English Sound Checks: Sound checks will be allowed from 1:00 PM until 1:55 PM and again during intermission. You can pick up your CD s, etc. from the Bob s table. Bus Parking: Once your guard has been dropped off at the guard check in area, your buses will be instructed by our security staff on where to go to unload props and park. We are asking all buses and equipment vehicles to park in the side lot, as there will be no parking on the circle during the show. Buses will be allowed in to pick up your guard after the show. Equipment: All equipment MUST be carefully padded with special attention to all sabers. No props will be checked in before 12:00 PM. Floors: The guards will be entering the gym from the left side of judges. And they will exit the gym using the doors on the right. When you are folding your floor mat, you will drop it along the left side and pull across to the right. Cafeteria: The cafeteria will be open as of 1:00 PM with a variety of choices available. DUE TO SIZE OF SHOW WE WILL BE OPENING BOTH CAFÉ SIDES to accommodate faster service and more seating.

Additional Show Viewing Areas: We will be displaying live performances in the Café locations to accommodate additional viewing. Seating: Guard members, chaperones, and your floor crew will be stamped upon arrival. The Mid-York circuit allows a total of 15 staff, chaperones and floor crew combined per unit. Floor crew will be stamped at the prop entrance. These members will be allowed to view the show from the back side of the gym only. Since there will be limited seating for the paying public, please remind your members to sit on the back side of the gym. They will be asked to move if they are sitting on the front side. Guides: Your group will be escorted as it makes its way from your classroom to warm up area. It's the director s responsibility to groups ready for pick-up Warm Ups: There will be 7-9 minute equipment warm up period prior to your performance time. While we will provide guides, it is the responsibility of the director to make sure their guard arrives for warm ups on time. As you will notice the equipment warm up area is adjacent to the prop set-up area so please be as quiet and respectful as possible when unloading and loading props. Retreat: Captains only please. Retreat will be held immediately after the final Guard. We will not have senior recognition to help move things along for everyone involved. Please have your captain's report to the prop staging area prior to last group going on for line-up. Post Contest Meetings will be held in the Library down the hall from the café. Same as field band. Smoking: There is No Smoking Permitted on school grounds. Please remind your parents, chaperones and floor crew of this important rule.
