2. TECHNICAL VALUE Internatinal Federatin f Aesthetic Grup Gymnastics IFAGG The cmpsitin f the prgram must frm a ttality that allws and supprts the gymnasts abilities t learn the basic techniques f Aesthetic Grup Gymnastics. The Technical Value cnsists f: Required Elements: - Bdy Mvements - Balances - Jumps/Leaps - Arm Mvements - Series f steps, skips r hps - Acrbatic mvements - Flexibility mvements - Cmbined Series 5.9 Ttal Technical Value scre 5.9 + 0.1 = 6.0 Bnus + 0.1 2.1. REQUIRED ELEMENTS OF THE PROGRAM 2.1.1. Bdy Mvements Aesthetic grup gymnastics is cmpsed f stylized and natural ttal bdy mvements where the hips frm the basic mvement center. A mvement perfrmed with ne part f the bdy is reflected thrughut the entire bdy. The cmpsitin must cntain several Bdy Mvements and Bdy Mvements Series (BMS) Fundamental Bdy Mvements (BM): 0.2 each - ttal bdy wave - ttal bdy swing - bending - twisting - cntractin - lean r lunge - relaxatin Bdy Mvements Series BM A - series = 0.3 - series including any tw different bdy mvements BM B - series = 0.4 - series including any three different bdy mvements In additin, the bdy mvement series may cnsist f ther bdy mvements that develp crdinatin, bdy cntrl and agility f the gymnasts. Fr example: - smersaults (frward, side r backward withut air time) - supprted leans - shulder stands IFAGG 6

All bdy mvements series must be perfrmed fluently and underline cntinuity frm ne mvement t the next as if they were created by the previus mvement and can be perfrmed with arm mvements (swings, pushes, waves, figure eights, etc.) r different kind f steps (rhythmic steps, walking, running, etc.) Basic Technique and Characteristics f Bdy Mvements Ttal bdy waves Frward bdy wave (basic frm) The wave starts with a little relaxatin in the bdy and the hips tilting a little bit backward gathering speed. Thrugh a dwnward semicircular mvement, the hips tilt frward and upward and effect the spine t mve in the frm f a wave. The wave starts frm the hips and can be seen as a wave-like mvement thrugh the whle bdy. The wave ends with an extensin. Characteristics: - relaxatin and gathering speed fr the mvement (with breathing ut) - the bttm f the hips tilt frward and upward - wave rlls thrugh the whle bdy (with breathing in) and ends with an extensin Backward bdy wave (basic frm) The wave begins by tilting the bttm f the hips backward and extending the bdy upwards while mving the chest frward and allwing the neck t bend backwards. Rising up starts by pushing the hips frward and cntinues thrugh the spine, which rises in a runded wavelike frm. The head fllws last. The wave is reflected thrughut the entire bdy and ends with an extensin. Characteristics - extensin and gathering speed fr the mvement (breathing in) - tilting the bttm f the hips backward - wave rlls thrugh the whle bdy (with breathing ut) and ends with an extensin Side bdy wave (basic frm) The wave starts with a little relaxatin in the bdy with the weight n ne leg. The wave cntinues by pushing the hips t ne side resulting in the ther side f the hips mving up. This transfers the weight frm ne leg t the ther. At the same time the upper bdy and the head balance the mvement by relaxing t the ppsite side. The wave cntinues upwards thrugh the spine and the upper bdy rises in a wave-like frm. The head fllws last. The wave is reflected thrughut the entire bdy and ends with an extensin. Characteristics - relaxatin and gathering speed fr the mvement (breathing ut) - pushing the hips t ne side - wave rlls thrugh the whle bdy (with breathing in) and ends with an extensin Ttal bdy swing (basic frm) A swing cnsists f three parts, which are: - gathering f speed by stretching (with breathing in) - a swing mtin when the upper part f the bdy is relaxed (with breathing ut) - ending in a well cntrlled psitin with the extensin (with breathing in) The imprtance f this mtin is the alternatin between the extensin and relaxatin, as well as between pwer and sftness. A bdy swing can be dne frwards, frm side t side and in a hrizntal plane. Bending A bending can be dne in different directins e.g. frwards, side, and back. IFAGG 7

Characteristics f basic bending: - clear and well cntrlled shape - the shulders must stay in the same line and the bending must be shwn evenly thrughut the entire upper bdy - runded shape f spine is shwn Twisting A twisting must have the fllwing characteristics: - difference in the directin between shulders and hips must be clearly visible (minimum 75 angle between shulders and hips line) - clear and well cntrlled shape and directin Cntractin In a cntractin, part f the upper bdy muscles cntract actively and the rest f the bdy respnds naturally t the cntractin. Cntractin f the abdminals (basic frm): the abdminals cntract, hips are tilted frward, the chest is pulled in, the shulders are rlled frward and the back runds up. Cntractin f the side (basic frm): the side bdy muscles cntract, and the same side s shulder and hip are pulled twards each ther. Characteristics: - active muscle wrk (abdminals, side r back muscles) is clearly twards the center f the bdy - the rest f the bdy respnds naturally t the cntractin Lean r Lunge In a lunge, the leaning f the whle bdy has t be shwn but in a lean, nly the upper bdy (frm the hips upwards) must frm an angle (minimum 45 ) between the bdy and the legs. Leans and lunges can be supprted by the hand(s), and muscle cntrl and a straight spine line must be clearly visible. A lean and lunge must have the fllwing characteristics: - clear and well cntrlled shape and line shwing a straight and stretched spine - gd muscle cntrl and psture in the bdy Relaxatin Relaxatin starts frm a well cntrlled psitin (small extensin with breathing in). In the relaxatin (with breathing ut), the bttm f the hips is tilted frward, the back runds, the neck naturally reflects the mvement and the shulders are relaxed. Relaxatin cntinues t an extensin r fluently t the next mvement. Characteristics: - relaxatin f the bdy - tilting the hips Bdy mvements can be varied by: - cmbining them with different kinds f arm mvements, leg mvements, skips, steps r hps and by perfrming them in different planes r levels. - cmbining them with each ther such as a lean with twisting. Cmbinatins f tw bdy mvements at the same time are cunted nly as ne bdy mvement. IFAGG 8

Bdy mvement series In a bdy mvement series, tw r mre different bdy mvements are perfrmed cnsecutively, linking them fluently tgether. Fluency is supprted with natural breathing and by using the ttal bdy mvement technique lgically: the mvements utwards frm the center f the bdy and twards the center f the bdy fllw each ther in a lgical rder. All bdy mvements series must be perfrmed fluently and underline cntinuity frm ne mvement t the next as if they were created by the previus mvement and can be perfrmed with arm mvements (swings, pushes, waves, figure eights, etc.) r different kind f steps (rhythmic steps, walking, running, etc.) In a bdy mvement series, all kinds f bdy mvements can be used (including variatins f basic bdy mvements and pre-acrbatic mvements). 2.1.2. Balances Balances chsen in the cmpsitin must crrespnd t the level f skills and age f the gymnasts. The cmpsitin must cntain different balances (static and dynamic: 0.2 each) and balance series (0.3 each) that can be perfrmed n a flat ft r n relevé. All balances must be perfrmed clearly and have the fllwing characteristics: - shape is fixed and well-defined during the balance ( pht ). - sufficient height f the lifted leg - gd cntrl f the bdy during and after the balance Static Balances Static balances can be perfrmed n ne leg, n ne knee r in a cssack psitin. During the balance the thigh f the free leg must be raised minimum at 90. Only ne leg can be bent in a balance. The same shape f a balance culd be used and will cunt as anther technical element (variatin) if it is perfrmed: - with a turlent (slw turn/prmenade) a minimum f 180 - with bdy mvement Dynamic Balances (turlent, illusins, pivts) must have the fllwing characteristics: Turlent (slw turn, prmenade): a minimum f 180 shuld be cmpleted in a fixed shape with a maximum 3-heel supprt during rtatin. Illusin: a rtatin f 360 shuld be cmpleted Pivt: a minimum f 360º shuld be cmpleted in a fixed shape Any static balance with a minimum rtatin f 360 in a fixed shape (pivt) will be cunted as a dynamic balance Bth legs can be bent during pivts. Balance series A cmbinatin f tw different balances perfrmed successively n the same leg r with a change f the supprt leg. A maximum f ne step is allwed in-between 2 balances in the series. IFAGG 9
