Welcome to the 12 th Annual Tournament Del Sol All Star Tournament On behalf of UC Del Sol Girls Fastpitch, we would like to welcome you to our All Star Tournament. Tournament Guidelines 1. Check-In: All teams must check in at least one hour prior to their first game time at the Hospitality Tent located at the field of their first game (Hickman Sports Complex). NO EXCEPTIONS! All teams must be registered with USA Softball as a recreational B or C All Star team. All Managers must sign the Manager Code of Conduct form before starting play. 2. Roster Verification: Each team must present the following at registration: Team roster (maximum 15 players). All teams are limited to the 15 players listed on the verified roster and no player may be added or changed after the start of the first game. No player may be on the roster of more than one team Proof of insurance USA Softball ID Cards or USA Softball approved All Star team registration roster/invoice. Birth Certificates for each player on the roster AND picture identification. Ages are as of December 31, 2017. Without proof of age, a player will not be allowed to play. NO EXCEPTIONS! Proof of age should be available for challenge throughout the tournament. Rostering ineligible players will result in forfeiture of games played and possible disqualification from the tournament, with a loss of all fees paid. 3. Protests: There will be no protests. The home plate umpire has the final word. 4. Manager, Coach and Crowd Etiquette: Managers and Coaches are responsible for the team, staff and fans both on and off the field. No loud artificial noise-making devices will be allowed on or near any playing field. Unruly behavior, vandalism, verbal harassment of players or umpires, destruction of property or similar activities will not be tolerated. Any improper conduct during games or anywhere on the premises may result in team disqualification from the tournament. An entire league risks disqualification from the tournament if anyone associated from that league is identified with alcohol at the fields or adjacent parking lots (or is noticeably intoxicated). 5. Warm-Up Areas: A warm up area map will be in your welcome packet. Warm up times are limited to one hour and fifteen minutes prior to your official game time. Teams should be at their assigned field at least fifteen minutes prior to game time. No practice on the infield dirt. Hitting balls into the fence is prohibited. Pitcher warmup areas will be designated throughout the complex. There is no pitching allowed on the team warmup fields. 6. Restrictions: Absolutely NO BARBEQUES or ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES will be allowed at game sites including parking lots. Please refrain from smoking at our fields. Only
RV s previously approved by the tournament coordinators may be parked on site. Dogs are allowed but must be on a leash at all times. 7. Trash and Recycling Receptacles: Located in numerous locations. We encourage you and your guests to use our recycle bins. Each team is responsible for cleaning their dugout thoroughly and quickly after each game. Please clean up after your pet. 8. Schedule: NO CHANGES TO THE SCHEDULE MAY BE REQUESTED ONCE POSTED. Be prepared to play at your scheduled times. Games may start early if both Team Managers and Umpire agree. 9. Trophies: Championship and Runner-up trophies will be presented to all age divisions (based on number of players on roster). 10. MVP Medals: Each team will receive 2 medals, one for each of their pool games. These are to be awarded to a deserving player on the opposing team at the end of each pool play game. (No extra medals will be available) 11. Snack Bar: Snack Bar will be available and will be open throughout the tournament. They will provide a wide variety of food, drinks, and candy.
Tournament Rules & Regulations USA Softball Rules: USA Softball rules will be in effect with the following exceptions: For 8U Only: Must bat all rostered player. No DP/Flex. (Free defensive substitutions) Four (4) outfielders (optional) - must remain 10 ft. behind base paths until ball is pitched. Run limit: 4 run limit per inning in ALL games (no open inning). Walks allowed. No dropped third strike. No infield fly rule. May steal one base per pitch. No stealing home. Cold home plate, runners can only advance on a live ball in play, if forced home on a walk, or if awarded by the umpire. Cannot immediately steal to 2 nd base if walked. For 10U and 12U: Run limit: 5 run limit per inning in ALL games (no open inning) During POOL PLAY and BRACKET PLAY, 9 defensive players and teams have ONE of the following options: (1) Bat nine players without the DP/Flex OR (2) Bat nine players and use the DP/Flex OR (3) Bat all rostered player (Free defensive substitutions) Dugouts: The team listed first will occupy the 3rd base dugout. During pool play only, home team will be determined by a coin toss with the home plate umpire prior to the start of the game. In bracket and championship play, the team with the higher seed will occupy the 3rd base dugout and be the home team. If there is a tie in seed, home team will be determined by a coin toss with the home plate umpire prior to the start of the game. The exception will be for a team with back to back games. They may remain in the same dugout. Teams are limited to four (4) USA Softball approved adults in the dugout and field during the games. Proof of USA Softball clearance needs to be submitted with the team s roster during check-in. Any non-approved parents/players are strictly prohibited from the field, dugout, and warmup areas. Forfeiture: Any team not ready to play at scheduled game time shall lose by forfeit (declared by assigned umpire), which results in a 7-0 loss. Player Attire: No jewelry or metal hair clips will be worn during games. Plastic visors are not allowed. Uniform shirts must be tucked in at all times. Player Equipment: No metal cleats. All bats must be USA Softball approved and may be subject to inspection/approval by the umpire. Helmets may be subject to inspection by the umpire and may not be allowed due to visible damage.
Player Re-entry: In case of injury, and when all subs have been used, the re-entry rule will be in effect. Mercy Rule: The mercy rule of fifteen (15) runs after 3 innings, twelve (12) runs after 4 innings, and ten (10) runs after 5 innings will apply to all divisions. Pool Tiebreakers will be determined in the following order: Win/Loss Record Head to Head Runs Allowed Runs Scored Coin Toss 3 Way Tiebreakers will be determined in the following order: Win/Loss Record Runs Allowed Runs Scored Coin Toss Bracket Seeding: All teams will advance to the single elimination bracket play. Seeding is based on win-loss-tie points within each pool. A win is worth 2 points, a tie is 1 point, and a loss is 0 points. Scorekeeping: During pool play, games may end in a tie. During bracket play, international tiebreaker rule shall be in effect. UCDS will provide an official score card and scorekeepers book. The home team scorekeeper will be the official scorekeeper. Each team must provide their own scorekeeper to avoid controversy. Umpires will record the ending score on the scorecard. Both team managers and the umpire will then be required to sign the scorecard. The umpire must turn in the signed scorecard to the registration tent immediately after the completion of every game. The official scorekeeper (home team) is not allowed to announce out of order batters.
TIME LIMITS Pool Play: To accommodate our tight game schedule and allow field prep time, please clean out your dugout and leave promptly. No on-field post game celebrating is permitted. No new inning will start after one (1) hour and fifteen (15) minutes. NO DROP DEAD. If the home team is ahead the game is finished. If the home or visitor team cannot at least tie due to run limits, at the time no new inning is announced, the game will end and the score will revert back to the last completed inning. Bracket: No new inning will start after one (1) hour and fifteen (15) minutes. NO DROP DEAD Championship: No time limit and the International Tiebreaker will be in effect. 8U and 10U will play 6 innings; 12U will play 7 innings. Run limit still in effect for each age division.
