PARTICIPANT S GUIDE 2018 10 th th anniversary presented by:

MOT DE LOUIS GARNEAU Dear friends and cyclists, As President of the Granfondo Garneau-Quebecor presented by Cascades, I wish to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being with us today, whether you are riding the gorgeous Granfondo course from Trois-Rivières to St-Augustin, or the Minifondo which takes riders on a loop around St-Augustin. Your participation will once again allow us to support an organization that is very dear to me, the Little Brothers. As you know, safety is extremely important to me and it is essential to remind you that, we must be ambassadors of our sport while respecting the Highway Safety Code at all times. I also ask you to respect the safety rules set forth by the officials all along the courses. I believe we ve achieved a master stroke by attracting the Olympic champion Kim Boutin as honorary co-president of the Granfondo Garneau-Quebecor. The organization had already convinced Jean Péladeau to come support the cause; now, two prestigious ambassadors will hit the road alongside over 2,000 participants with a common goal to raise funds for the Little Brothers. Finally, I would like to thank our generous sponsors who, each year, make this very special adventure possible: Québecor, Cascades, Deloitte, Norton Rose Fulbright, Couture-Rochette, Biscuits Leclerc, RBC, Purolator, Assurances Wagner Bujold Leduc, Desjardins Assurances, Alex Coulombe, Archibald, Vélomag, IGA des Sources, le Groupe La Québécoise, Gendronvélo, Krispy Kernels, Café Barista, Vélo Espace, Lessard Bicycles and the Association des chiropraticiens du Québec (Québec Chiropractors Association). Without them, the Granfondo Garneau-Quebecor presented by Cascades would not be possible, and we are very grateful for their support! I hope you will fully enjoy this special day as well as the beautiful courses and that you will keep fond memories of your participation in the 2018 edition of the Granfondo Garneau-Quebecor presented by Cascades! A great ride to everyone and vive le vélo! Louis Garneau

LES PETITS FRÈRES Dear cyclists, Your generosity and your pedal strokes are a concrete contribution to the happiness of the Old Friends. In 2017, 180 Old Friends from the Quebec region enjoyed a Christmas celebration and spent time at the Paul Garneau cottage at Lake St. Joseph. After 10 years, this cottage remains the perfect place for our Old Friends to socialize, feel loved and enjoy unforgettable moments of happiness. Thanks to each and every one of you, the Little Brothers organization continues its mission to break the isolation of seniors aged 75 and over. By pedaling the 120 kilometers of the Granfondo Garneau-Quebecor, you are giving back, you are giving recognition to builders. Moreover, I invite you to raise awareness within your family, friends and fellow citizens on the importance of taking care of our elders. I also invite you to tell them about the Little Brothers, as 95% of our funding comes from personal and corporate donations. I would also like to mention that the Little Brothers accompany the Old Friends until the end of their lives. On behalf of Julien, Françoise, Camille and all the Old Friends, the volunteers and the Little Brothers, I wish to thank Mr. Louis Garneau for his continued support. I also wish to thank the sponsors such as Quebecor and Cascades. And thank you to the Louis Garneau Sports team for their commitment and to all the riders. Let s ride at our own pace; let s ride together to break the isolation of the elderly.

Always keep to the right of the yellow line. No passing on the other side of the yellow line will be tolerated. Follow the cruising speed; participants who find themselves outside the security vehicles will no longer be covered by the organization. Stop at traffic lights if there are no police officers in service. Respect the Highway Safety Code. Hydrate regularly. Remain cautious and pay attention at all times. Bikes with triathlon handlebars are forbidden.

SUPERVISION GUIDELINES On the road, supervising cyclists will be present to help you throughout the course. Do not hesitate to ask for help, whether for mechanical issues or to make it up a tough hill! Neutral service vehicles with mechanics will be available to provide assistance in case of mechanical issues. We strongly suggest that participants have their own replacement tubes in case of a flat to facilitate the work of mechanics and/or supervisors who have to answer to the needs of different types of bikes. We will also have a supervision service by police officers from the Sûreté du Québec and the city, as well as several civilian motorcycles, in order to ensure the safety of cyclists on the course. At all times, it is forbidden to cross the yellow line. If applicable, follow the instructions given by police officers. Finally, GTI MEDICAL will be present on the course, at the refreshment points and at the finish line to provide first aid services in case of a fall or faintness. Do not hesitate to ask for help if needed. Chiropractic services will also be available for free at the finish site. Instructions from the Quebec Ministry of Transport: We are under obligation to control the speed of pelotons averaging less than 30 km/h, as these will not be supervised by the Sûreté du Québec. Here are the different speed groups offered for the event. At the start line, simply take position in the speed group that best suits you: Uncontrolled speed groups supervised by the police : 30-35 km/h 35-40 km/h Over 40 km/h Other controlled-speed groups supervised by safety vehicles and supervisors : 20-22 km/h 22-24 km/h 24-26 km/h 26-28 km/h 28-30 km/h
