GENERAL NOTES / GUIDELINES Fields: All games will be played at the Sacred Heart CYO Complex. Most games will be played at the field nearest to the entrance. A few games (in the first few days of the tournament) will be played on the field at the back of the complex. Neither field has lights, so weeknight games will be expected to start promptly at 6 pm. In the event of rain or darkness, games will be resumed consistent with Ripken tournament rules. Team warm-up: The Sacred Heart facilities feature seven batting cages, and multiple soft toss nets for use before games. As such, there should be ample space for hitting before games. Please do not do soft toss against chain link fencing. Players wishing to throw before a game can do so on any of the fields not being used for tournament play. Each team will be provided 10 minutes on the field for infield practice prior to the start of each game. Parking: Please respect any designated No Parking areas throughout the complex, in particular, the area around the snack bar where emergency vehicles may need access. Other house rules: In order to provide a comfortable setting for our players and fans, Sacred Heart is a smoke-free, pet-free facility. We ask that all guests acknowledge this as well during the tournament. Restrooms: The restroom facilities are located in the center of the complex, near the snack bar and picnic area. Tournament t-shirts: Will be available for purchase during the tournament. Get yours early as there will be a limited supply on hand! 4
SPORTSMANSHIP As host of this year s Southern New Jersey District 5 Tournament, Sacred Heart is glad to have you on board so that, together, we can have a tournament full of great memories for all teams. With that in mind, we ask for your cooperation and support in promoting a positive environment of sportsmanship and respect throughout the week. Below is the Babe Ruth Sportsmanship Code, which was established in 1954 but still demonstrates the ideals of what we are all trying to exemplify today: Develop a strong, clean, healthy body, mind, and soul. Develop a strong urge for sportsman-like conduct. Develop an understanding of and respect for the RULES. Develop courage in defeat, tolerance and modesty in victory. Develop controls over emotions and speech. Develop spirit of cooperation and team play. Develop into real, true CITIZENS. 5
