Notice to Competitors #2 April 9, 2012 Effective April 9, 2012 Section 1.3(d) of the Sailing Instructions is amended as follows: 1.3 While racing, all boats shall: (d) drop their spinnaker so that the head is below the lowest spreader before first crossing the extension of the seaward side of the northern section of the detached breakwater (spinnakers may not be used inside the Marina del Rey harbor). Attachment A, COURSE DESCRIPTION, Sections A1(b) and A1(c) of the Sailing Instructions are amended as follows: A1 After starting: (b) Enter the Marina del Rey Harbor north entrance, leaving the end of the detached breakwater to starboard. (c) Leave to port the end of the north jetty, including any red buoys or shoal buoys adjacent to the end of this jetty. Notice to Competitors #3 April 10, 2012 Effective April 10, 2012 Attachment A, COURSE DESCRIPTION, Section A1(c) of the Sailing Instructions is amended as follows: A1 After starting: (c) Leave to port the end of the north jetty, including any green buoys or shoal buoys adjacent to the end of this jetty. This does not include any center-channel markers between the detached breakwater and the north jetty or any center-channel markers in the entrance channel adjacent to the detached breakwater near the flag pole. A2: Handicap distances in the original Sailing Instructions will be applicable when the south entrance is used, except that the distance for Mark E is 6.0 NM. Entries and entry fees submitted for April 25th race will apply to the May 2nd race only. Subsequent races will follow in order (except there is no race July 4). The last race will be race #20 held on Sept 5, 2012 (there will be no race #21).

Notice to Competitors #13 July 25, 2012 Effective July 25, 2012 The Sailing Instructions are amended to allow the Race Committee to designate during the starting sequence which entrance to the Marina del Rey harbor will be used. The attached single-page document replaces the last page of the Sailing Instructions entitled Attachment A (changed language in A1 and A2 is indicated by bold text and marginal markings). 2012 SUNSET SERIES Wednesdays, April 11 September 5, 2012 Marina del Rey, California USA ATTACHMENT A Revision #1 (July 25, 2012) COURSE DESCRIPTION (including option for using South and North entrances) A1 A2 After starting: (a) Leave to port the mark indicated by the course letter flag(s) displayed for your class. (b) (i) If the Race Committee displayed a Pink flag during the starting sequence then enter the Marina del Rey south entrance leaving the end of the detached breakwater to port. Leave to starboard the end of the south jetty, including any red buoys or "shoal" buoys adjacent to the end of this jetty. (ii) If the Race Committee displayed a Lime Green flag during the starting sequence then enter the Marina del Rey north entrance leaving the end of the detached breakwater to starboard. Leave to port the end of the north jetty, including any green buoys or "shoal" buoys adjacent to the end of this jetty (including any "No Sailboats" buoys). (c) Center-channel markers between the detached breakwater and the south or north jetties or in the entrance channel adjacent to the breakwater near the flag pole are not marks of the course. (d) Leave to port the "No Sailboats" buoys designating the lane for powering out of the harbor on the northwest side of the entrance channel. The line between these buoys is a continuing obstruction and a boat shall not sail with any part of her hull on the northwest side of this line. Be aware that there may be a "No Sailboats" buoy at the end of the north jetty. (e) In the main channel, leave to port, starting with the center-channel speed marker that is closest to being in line with the US Coast Guard station pier, all center channel speed markers, any colored center-channel mooring cans and any yellow or orange inflatable buoys (if present), not including any speed markers adjacent to the UCLA dock. The line between any of these buoys is not a continuing obstruction. (f) Proceed to the finish line off the CYC Guest Dock, unless the course is shortened under SI 7.2 to finish at either the Coast Guard Dock (CGD) or Burton Chase Park (BCP). (g) Boats shall leave to port any yellow or orange inflatable buoys (if present) when exiting the area of the finishing line after finishing.
