The win was the 55th in school history and the fifth team title for second-year head coach Nick Clinard. Clinard has also led five separate Auburn golfers to individual titles since his arrival on The Plains, marking the winningest two-year span in school history. With a 2010-11 record of 127-18-1, Auburn will look to improve on their tie for ninth at last year s NCAA Regional, aiming to make the NCAA Championshp for the first time since 2008. The Tigers finished top five in all 2010-11 events and 14 of the last 15 regular season events. With the win at the Bluegrass, Auburn picked up its ninth-straight top-three. HEAD COACH NICK CLINARD Head coach Nick Clinard is in his second season after leaving Central Florida where he was head coach for eight seasons. Since Clinard has arrived on the Plains, the Tigers have won five team tournaments and earned five individual medalist honors. Clinard led UCF to NCAA Regional play in five of his last six seasons, including 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2009. The Knights won six tournament titles in his last two seasons. Clinard had nine tournament victories including two conference championships, coached one All-American, four Academic All Americans, two conference players of the year, three individual conference champs and eight all-conference players at UCF. UCF won the 2009 NCAA Southeast Regional title by defeating No. 2 Georgia and No. 13 South Carolina along with claiming the school s first Conference USA Championship. Clinard played professional golf for five seasons from 1996-2001 on the NGA Hooters Tour as well as several Nike Tour and Canadian Tour events prior to becoming head coach of 2010-11AUBURN MEN S GOLF

2010-11 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS COLORADO REGIONAL UCF. Clinard played one year of collegiate golf at SMU before playing his final three years at Wake Forest from 1992-95, where the Demon Deacons were ranked in the top 10 in the nation all three seasons. AUBURN AS A TEAM The Tigers earned a No. 8 ranking in October, their highest since end of 2004-05 season. Auburn moved to as high as six in the Golfweek poll but, following a win at the Bluegrass Invitational which featured no teams ranked in the top-30, the Tigers slipped in the polls. The 2010-11 season saw one of Auburn s most successful fall seasons to date, with two individual medalists, three team wins and nine top-three finishes. Auburn sits at 127-18-1 (.876) on the season with an 8-2 record against Colorado Regional competition. 2010-11 ROSTER Blayne Barber SO Lake City, Fla. UCF Dominic Bozzelli SO Pittsford, N.Y. Barber found the switch to Auburn easy after transferring from Central Florida in 2009, and although redshirting his 2009-10 season, the Lake City, Fla., native is currently ranked 14th by both the Golfweek Magazine collegiate and Scratch Players World Amateur Golf rankings. As a result, he was named a semifinalist for the 2011 Ben Hogan Award Wednesday by the Golf Coaches Association of America as a result of strong play in both the collegiate and amateur arenas. At Central Florida, he was named to the 2008-09 Five-Man GCAA All-Freshman team and was a three-time Conference USA Golfer-of-the-Week. Barber claimed his first individual medalist honors for the Tigers at the 2010 Bridgestone Intercollegiate. MICHAEL HEBERT Sophomore Michael Hebert will play the No. 2 spot for the Tigers with a 2010-11 scoring average of 71.73 and 17 rounds at par or better. Since transferring to Auburn following a strong freshman season at Florida State, Hebert has earned four top-10s including a pair of fourth-place finishes at the Jerry Pate National and the John Hayt Collegiate. The Orlando, Fla, native is currently ranked 47th by Golfweek Magazine. NICLAS CARLSSON International signee Niclas Carlsson will look to continue a stellar freshman campaign for the Tigers, holding down the No. 3 position. The Enebyberg, Sweden, product holds a 72.00 scoring average after becoming the first freshman to win an event since three-time All-American Jimmy Green won the 1988 Alabama Intercollegiate. Carlsson led the Tigers during their win over then top-ranked Florida and No. 4 Alabama at the 2010 Jerry Pate, shooting 8-under through 36 holes to claim medalist honors. He has accumulated two top-five and five top-20 finishes this season. KYLE KOPSICK Junior Kyle Kopsick will play the fourth position after earning top-25 finishes in five-consecutive tournaments. The Chicago, native fired a final round, 68, to help force a playoff with Florida en route to the Tigers victory at the 2011 Chris Schenkel Invitational. Kopsick has maintained his position as a consistent starter this season following the arrival of Clinard s young guns. BEN HOGAN SEMIFINALIST Blayne Barber was named a semifinalist for the 2011 Ben Hogan Award, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced April 13. Presented annually as the most prestigious award in men s college golf, the Ben Hogan Award takes into account collegiate and amateur results from the past year to recognize the nation s top college golfer. On the collegiate level, Barber has finished inside the top-five in 6-of-10 events this season, highlighted by a win at the 2010 Bridgestone Intercollegiate. Ranked 13th in the latest GolfWeek Sagarin ratings, Barber leads the team with a scoring average of 70.93. The Lake City, Fla., native also leads the Tigers in sub-par rounds and rounds in the 60s. He signed two of the top 16 players nationally in 2007, the two-time Florida State Junior Champion and the 2006 Florida State Golf Association Player of the Year in 2008 and three top 50 players nationally in 2009. GARY KOCH INVITATIONAL THE COURSE Named after a nearby highway that was once the only route to the bay area of Tampa, Old Memorial Golf Club opened for play in November 1997, and it's well-conceived clubhouse was completed the following February. The vision for the development of a world-class golf course, with facilities to match, was taking shape. Along with a mixture of subtle and bold contours, Old Memorial's primary design feature is its bunkering. Large and beautifully sculpted, the bunkers have sand faces with long grass fingers that give them the appearance of a series of smaller bunkers. Unlike water hazards, bunkers are often just a quarter or half-shot penalty and recovery is always possible. Smyers' bunkers are dramatic, sweeping hollows of sand that intimidate, deceive, direct play and frame the course's landing areas and greens. Often, they make holes look more difficult than they really are. As one architecture editor wrote, "Not since MacKenzie or Tillinghast has a golf course architect used bunkering to make such bold statements, express such flair, instill such fear." "I played with a lot of conf idence today," said Kopsick. "I knew I was playing well. There were a lot of birdies out there. I knew I was bound to make some. It was fun. I've worked really hard and it was good to see the results." Kopsick was in third after recording a second round 63 en route to the title, the lowest 18-hole score ever recorded by a Tiger in collegiate competition. Closing out the tournament with a f inal round 66, Kopsick set new school and tournament records with a 201 three-round total. Kopsick also led the 81-player f ield in par-3 scoring, averaging 2.58 per hole, while nearly claiming the course 18-hole record of 62 set by Camilo Villegas in 2001. The win was the f irst for an Auburn golfer since Patton Kizzire claimed the 2007 SEC Championship and the f irst under Auburn head coach Nick Clinard.
