Clinicians: Jon Stuart, UGA Men s Sprints, Hurdles & Relays: Coached 3 Olympians, 28 All-Americans, and numerous NCAA qualifiers in his 15 years at Georgia. Stuart was named the 2012 South Region Indoor Assistant Coach of the Year after leading Torrin Lawrence to his 3 rd SEC title. He currently coaches Justin Gaymon (48.42 in the 400h, 8 th in the 2013 World Rankings) and Chieh Chen (Taiwanese National Champion in the 400 and 400h). George Cleare, UGA Women s Sprints, Hurdles & Relays: IAAF Level 4 specializing in the sprints, hurdles and relays. Coach Cleare is a National Coach and Relay Coordinator for the Bahamas and has coached an Olympic and World Championship Medalist. His most recent international success was Coordinator of the silver medal winning 4x100m women s team at the 2009 World Championships. Coach Cleare has also developed numerous junior national team members for the Bahamas. Patrick Cunniff, UGA Mid-Distance & Distance:. Coach Cunniff returns to his alma mater, after 10 years of Division 1 coaching in elite programs Long Beach State, TCU and UT- Austin. In his first season at UGA, Cunniff has already lead both the Men s and Women s XC teams to NCAA qualifying performances for only the second time in university history, with the men s SEC runner-up and NCAA 19 th place finishes both being historical bests for UGA. Prior to UGA, Cunniff worked with men and women at an elite level across the distance spectrum, including 3 Olympic Trials Qualifiers, NCAA 800m Champion, 12 Conference Champions and numerous NCAA qualifiers. His athletes have broken school records over 30 times. In 2012, Cunniff coached Matt Maldonado to the semi-finals of the US Olympic Trials and performances of 3:37.62 at 1500 and an MPSF Indoor Mile Championship with a 3:59.08. He continues to advise Kip Kangogo who has placed first in the Canadian National Championships several times. Petros Kyprianou, UGA Pole Vault & Multi-Events: Petros Kyprianou joined Georgia s Track & Field staff in the fall. The 2008 NCAA West Region Assistant Coach of the Year came to Georgia after successful stints at Boise State, Nebraska (Omaha) and the Greek national Team. He has developed several athletes that represented their countries in the Olympic Games, World Championships, and European Championships. The highly motivated and energetic coach is known for his biomechanics background and effectiveness in developing technical models in the pole vault and jumps. A USATF Certified Level III and USAW coach has coached 2 Olympians, 2 NCAA Champions, 20 NCAA All-Americans, 6 National Record holders, 5 Greek National Champions, and 30 Conference Champions. He is also known for his unique approach in designing and implementing successful strength and conditioning programs for his athletes. Coach Kyprianou has contributed as an article author to several track & field publications such as the USTFCCCA s Techniques and the Estonian website Decathlon2000. 4
-The check-in for the clinic will be held at Rankin Smith Academic Center on the University of Georgia campus beginning at 8:00am, Saturday, February 22 nd, 2014. The lecture and video analysis portion of the clinic will be held in the Upstairs Meeting Room and Smart Classroom located in the Rankin Smith Center. The weightlifting, conditioning, and gymnastics portion of the clinic will be held in the Stegeman Training Annex weight room and gymnastics center. All the afternoon field sessions will be held at the Spec Towns Track Complex (weather permitting). Parking will be free on the morning of the clinic in the parking lots near the Rankin Smith Center, which is located adjacent to the Stegeman Coliseum.
