Boston College Softball August Newsletter Welcome back for another edition of the Boston College softball Newsletter. We are excited that the start of our fall season is just around the corner. In the mean time we wanted to share what the team has been up to this summer.

Annie Murphy: This summer I've been working out and working down the shore in Wildwood, NJ at Kohr Brothers. I haven't traveled this summer but I will be going to Florida and North Carolina before returning to BC in August! Last week I traveled up to Seaside with Jordan, Madi, and Chloe S! Jordan Chimneto: This summer I have been working at a summer camp along with joining a new cross fit workout team. On the weekends I am usually at the lake, riding horses, and took a few trips here and there. I have enjoyed going out to hit and throw with some of my old teammates every week because it is awesome to reconnect with the game that brought us together. Madison Paulson: My family and I vacationed in Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon.

Olivia Markopoulous: So I started off the summer by going down to Carova, NC for a beach trip with some of my high school friends. It was a great experience to be with my classmates for the last time before we all go off on our different paths. I also played in a PGF qualifier in Virginia Beach with my travel ball team, Vienna Stars Gold. We won all of our games and earned our berth to PGF Premier Nationals in Huntington Beach, CA. I then went to Boulder, CO for one of the biggest softball tournaments in the country. There were over 800 teams in Colorado which is crazy. While we were there, we hiked Red Rocks, went down to Pearl Street, and got to explore downtown Denver. Chloe Dubocq: This summer I've been enjoying the Oregon weather and working at 24 hour fitness which is perfect because it makes training even easier after or before work. Dani Thomas: I really haven't been doing much. I took a class at Saint Mary's in the beginning of the summer. I've been working out and working to earn money! Nothing exciting until August! I'll be going to Hawaii. Carly Severini: My first summer home has been filled with some new and different activities. For instance, I have been volunteering at a horse therapy camp/ adaptive riding program for children with special needs. Working with the participants has been a life changing experience, and I'm so glad I decided to help out. I have also been doing hot yoga classes with my mom, working out at Parisi Speed School, practicing, and hiking all over NJ and PA. The major highlight of my summer was definitely going to see The Cure with my dad for Father's Day. This summer has been great, but I'm ready to get back on campus soon!

Taylor Coroneos: I spent the month of June in Ireland taking a class with Boston College Dublin. We traveled all around Ireland with a new destination nearly every day. We had the chance to hang over cliffs, jump into bogs and even see Vice president Biden speak at the Dublin Castle. On my off weekend, I met up with the national fast pitch team of Ireland. We were able to introduce kids to the sport and watch them immediately fall in love with it. I have been constantly learning from experience this summer as I ve been taking on new places with new people. The rest of my summer will be spent back in the states with family and friends, preparing for my last year as an eagle! Megan Overton: Went to Boca Raton. Having been playing with my softball team. We went out on a boat together as a team for a lake day after games one night. Have been working out. Halle Hixenbaugh: This summer I have been traveling around the country for softball. When not playing softball I have been trying to spend as much time as possible with friends and family before I leave for school. Together we spend a lot of time at the pool and we enjoy going to the lake. Jordan Weed: One of the best parts of my summer thus far was having Chloe and Madi come visit! We went to the beach and then went to seaside heights and went on a sky flying ride! I have also been on lots of motorcycle rides with my mom and dad! We visited the Harley Davidson museum in York PA, about 175 miles from my house! And of course, I have spent lots of time with my little cousins! They're the cutest!!

Jessica Dreswick: Although this summer has been very busy here in New Jersey, I still have plenty of time for softball. I was able to spend a week helping some local pitchers perfect their skills. It was a lot of fun working with kids who are so eager to learn and develop. When I'm not working or pitching, I've spent my off days at the beach or hiking. Natalie Waldowski: As you could have imagined, I've been playing softball for the majority of the summer on the CT Charmers. Playing in a different state every weekend, I've gotten to become great friends with the girls on my team. When I'm not hanging out with them or playing softball, I've been able to hang out with my friends and family back home. I've been able to go to the movies, the beach, amusement parks, and do some shopping for my dorm room next year. A highlight of my summer so far would definitely be my trip to Atlanta, Georgia, for a softball tournament. While there, I got to play some great softball while spending time with my great teammates. I got to spend time at Six Flags, go to a waterpark, and even visit Stone Mountain Park. Now, I look forward to continuing my training for college and spend some more time at the beach. Chloe Sharabba: This summer I spent some time in Cabo, Mexico with my family Lexi DiEmmanuele: This summer I've been spending time tanning at the beach, helping young girls learn to develop their softball skills, and working out in the gym and on the field! Kendra Friedt: I'm spending my summer working at Nordstrom's and going to the beach with my friends.

Jules Trevino: Throughout the summer I have been playing softball of course and enjoying it. We started in Orlando, then California, to New Jersey, to Colorado, to Chicago and lastly to California for Nationals. It has been a fun last summer so far with my teammates before we all leave for college! I have also been spending time with my family every single trip we go on since softball takes up a lot of time throughout the summer and I am about to leave for BC soon. I have had only one vacation so far in Panama City Beach due to softball, but my family and I had a great short time on the sand. After nationals we are planned to go on one last family trip to the Cayman Islands before I go to Boston, and I couldn't be more excited for both the vacation and college! Brenna Griesser: The first thing I did this summer was attend a ton of grad parties. It was nice to celebrate what we had accomplished with friends and family. Next up was our team s annual golf tournament to raise money for our summer trips. This is one of my favorite events since golf has a soft spot in my heart. It was very cool this year because a younger team shadowed us so we could mentor them for when they take over next year: they were adorable and so full of energy. Next, I got a summer job as a hostess at Sullivan s Steakhouse. All the employees are like family and I love being apart of it! Then in the middle of June, I went to orientation and it was awesome! I met so many cool people and it got me super excited for the upcoming year! Right after orientation, I went to the softball camp and that s when my summer plans changed. During camp while I was doing a drill, I dislocated my patella. The trainer was able to pop it back in but I still needed to have it checked out. Luckily my flight left the next day so the emergency room gave me this huge knee brace and crutches and I was off. I got placed on a physical therapy regimen and was thankfully given a smaller more realistic knee brace. The last big thing I did this summer was travel to Colorado with my team one last time. Even though I couldn t play beside them, I wanted to be there and spend one last tournament with my teammates. Since then I have been doing physical therapy to get healthy for fall season! Even though my summer did not end up they way I originally planned out, I had a great time and learned a lot from the experiences I had and for that I am thankful.

Ally Moore: Over the summer I have been a counselor for the Play 60 program at Clayton High School. Every Friday we go on a trip and this was from the Battle Ship New Jersey. Ally Frei: I'm spending my summer taking classes at BC and helping out at Birdball youth camps with Chloe and Madi. One of the highlights has been going to Red Sox game when we first got here for the summer!
