Changing out the fluorescents has been time-consuming, but with the knowledge and help of David Harbour, Doug Novak, & Isaac Ward; Darren Mues has ram-rodded the project and our utility bills show the savings. We actually thought that the card room might be TOO bright, but the regular players enjoy the extra sight provided by the LED bulbs and asked that we not consider a dimmer switch. We have purchased a new flag pole that promises to not let our flag wrap up like the old ones did. So far, it seems to be keeping its promise. Now if we could just figure out how to fly it at half-staff every Saturday after the football game, we d really be on to something! Club Managers Notes We Hope you like the $2 cans of beer on Mondays, the pitcher specials on Tuesdays, the reduced prices on well drinks on Wednesdays, the always-changing drink of the month, and the other specials we regularly feature. We are looking at having karaoke on an experimental basis and will have Spanky dj-ing at our Halloween party towards the end of the month. We re also up and running in the kitchen on Tuesday nights during pool league; so drop by and watch the wild life that having 5 8-ball tables in use at the same time generates and get some good short-order fixings or order a pizza and bucket at the front bar if you d rather. Don t forget that you will no longer be able to redeem the old drink poker chips after the end of the month. So if you ve been saving them up, now is the time to use them!
District 4 Meeting We hosted the District 6 meeting Sunday with folks from Imperial, North Platte, and McCook in attendance along with about a dozen of our own members. Thank you to the ladies that provided the meals and gifts for the drawing, especially Judy Carr and Nita Beam. The next District meeting will be held in McCook in November. Eagles State Dart Tournament The State Dart Tournament is in York on October 26 th -28 th. We only have one team going so far, so there s plenty of room for more. This is the most affordable of all the Eagles state tournaments. Rooms at the Palmer Inn (the closest to the game sight) are only $70/night for double occupancy; and that s the cost for the entire team, also. York may be big and mean in high school football, but they re one of the friendliest Aeries in the state and we look forward to enjoying their hospitality. If you re interested at all in getting a 4-person team together, the only requirement is that you be a current Eagle or Auxiliary member. Contact Mark Beam @ 991-7271 for further information. Eagle Riders News The Eagle Riders had a great time at their recent annual campout, with nearly a dozen in attendance. Even though the Huskers sadly didn t pull through! But they did enjoy the 2 movies that they got to watch afterwards, even though Darren Mues preferred last years horror flick to the chick movies of this years viewing. Michael even fired up his dutch-oven and treated everyone to homemade pizza and a cobbler, that accompanied the rest of the feast worthy of kings! Football Prizes We hope everyone is enjoying the football drawing prizes that we ve been having this year. And we want to send a BIG thank you out to Hilsabeck s Sporting Goods for providing those for us!
