T E N N I S Good team chemistry displayed by Fred Bendana and Jane Fisher. Their solid net play took them within one point of a trip to the title match. With score lines of 6-4, 5-7 and 5-7 they had the most dramatic matches of the day. A Semi-Finalist at this year's Adult All Club Championships, Rodney Harrison displays good form on a slice backhand in his first round singles match. Rodney Harrison spins a serve in while partner Colleen Sommer gets ready to pick off the volley at the net. Unfortunately for Rodney and Colleen they had to play the eventual champions and finalists in their first two matches and couldn't develop much momentum in the round robin portion of the tournament. They lost a close 4-6 match to Katie Miller and Mark Easley in the 5th place match. Katie Miller and Mark Easley proved to be tough opposition in every single match they played. They kept their opponents off balance with a blend of steady groundstrokes mixed in with hard flat attacking shots. Katie and Mark lost two extremely close 4-6 matches in round robin play and closed out the day with a 6-4 victory in the 5th place match.
2017 WCC Doubles Club Championships Finalists: Jack and Scott Anderson Champions: Ernie Meyers and Mike Donovan Mike Lewis hits a heavy backhand as partner Chris Hannis looks on. Mike and Chris clinched the #1 seed in their pool but were slowed down in the semi-finals by both injury and the hot team of Scott and Jack Anderson. 2017 Champions Mike Donovan and Ernie Meyers returning serve. Mike and Ernie remained cool, calm and collected through out the whole tournament. The combination of Mike's lobs and Ernie's sold net play proved too strong for the rest of the field. CHATTERBOX Finalists Scott and Jack Anderson powered their way into the championship match with a 6-1 win over the higher seeded team of Mike Lewis and Chris Hannis in the semi-finals. They played well in the finals but lost a very close match, 6-4, to the undefeated champions Mike Donovan and Ernie Meyers.
