Soccer Moves: Coach demonstrates the move (15-20 ), players perform it (1 30 ), then coach calls 1 or more players for a quick demonstration (15-20 ). Repeat these steps for all 4 skills. Pick different players for each demonstration. When dribbling: keep the ball close to foot; heads up; change directions with the ball; look for open space; Technical: Passing & Receiving Split the team into 2 groups. Set one group inside and the other outside of the activity area. Activities: a) Inside players pass the ball to an outside player who will control it and dribble in. Players switch positions constantly. b) Players inside run to be open, receive a pass from an outside player and pass it back to the same player. c) At this time, players should receive the ball with a wide touch before passing it back. d) After receiving the ball, players should dribble at speed before passing it back. Outside players should control and pass the ball with different feet at each round. Set up a 20x20 square. Set one group of players outside and around the square and the other group inside of the square. Play rounds of 2-3 minutes. Play variation a just one time as players will be switching positions constantly. Play variations b, c and d 2 times. Switch players in/out after each round. At the half of each activity switch the foot to be used to pass the ball to outside players. Receive (control) the ball and pass; Receive (control) the ball and dribble; Pass with the inside of the foot (L/R); Principles of the Game: Ball Possession Split the team into 3 groups (3 different pinnie colors). Players will play 6v3; 2 attacking teams who will try to keep ball possession and 1 defending team who will try to steal the ball from them. The team/color who loses the ball will replace the defending team and vice-versa. Start with unlimited touches on the ball per player and then set touches limitation (see below). At each game/round identify the team who connected more passes in a sequence. When 6 new players are combined (2 teams/colors), they should re-start counting their passes. Set up a 30x20 square. If the ball goes out of bounds the team who passed it out will become defenders. Play 4-5 rounds of 4-5 minutes each. Initially let them play freely to understand the game. Then, set conditions: a) receive the ball and dribble to right and/or left before passing it to a teammate; b) 3 touches per player; c) 2 touches per player.
