IMPACT LOCATION SETUP Updated July 2018
HOW TM4 DETERMINES IMPACT LOCATION TO DETERMINE IMPACT LOCATION FOUR PARAMETERS ARE NEEDED The ball position before impact, the precise time of impact, the position of the clubhead at impact, and the center position of the club face (groove lines). 1. The ball position before impact is determined using both radar and camera. 2. Precise time of impact is determined with TM4 s ultra high sampling frequency of 40.000 samples per second. 3. The position of the club head at impact is determined through 4D silhouette clubhead tracking with TM4 s high frequency impact radar combined with clubhead tracking by the internal camera (OERT Optically Enhanced Radar Tracking). 4. The center position of the club face (groove lines) is defined through an offset in relation to the hosel. This offset typically doesn t vary a lot between club models, so for most users the standard values will be fine. However, it can be changed in the TrackMan software.
REQUIREMENTS LICENSE Software license per April 1 st 2018 required to use this feature. FIRMWARE Firmware version 1.7.1 or newer is required to use this feature. We recommend that you're always updated to the latest firmware version to experience the latest improvements. BALL PLACEMENT The ball should always be placed within the blue area shown on the target selection screen, and the TM4 unit placed on the same height as the ball. LIGHT REQUIREMENTS TrackMan 4 uses OERT (Optically Enhanced Radar Tracking) for impact location tracking and additional light might be required for the OERT to track impact location. The example on the next page shows how to position the light beams for best setup possible. The easy way to review your light conditions is through a live stream in the internal camera, as described on the following pages. Note, the switch frequency of the driver circuit for the light needs to be higher than 200 Hz. INTERNAL CAMERA RECORDINGS Internal TM4 swing video can not be used simultaneous with the internal camera being used for impact location /dynamic lie. Toggle the internal TM4 camera on/off to enable/disable impact location measurement.
