1 Spring News Feb 2017 Parents and Players Please see attached some useful information regarding the club. The committee tries to keep all parents and players informed of all our news. Message from the Coaches As coaches reflecting on our season to date it has been a big learning curve moving into the Oxford Mail league with the standard of football and the opposition having being a challenge for our boys. They have acquitted themselves really well and will only improve from this experience to become better players in readiness for the 2017/18 season when we go to 11- a side. As coaches, we continue to enjoy coaching the squad and we are looking forward to the remaining part of the season. Please be aware during the winter weather that the KO times may change if the conditions look doubtful. If we call off the home game, we may be expected to travel to the other team s venue, if they deem their pitch suitable to play. Please keep an eye out for communications for any last-minute changes. Shane and Jason

2 Grant awarded We would like to say a massive thank you to Gavin Pledge. Gavin let us know about a potential grant through The Midcounties Co-operative Community Fund that we could apply for. We are delighted to let you know that we have been awarded 1000 which is a massive amount for a club our size to receive. This means that the money will be used to buy the club larger goals which we require for the 2017/18 season. As you can imagine we are over the moon as this was potential a big cost for us a club, so thank you Gavin. If any of you are aware of any grants that we can tap into, please advise us. Extra income is always a blessing to continue the growth of our club. Outside Training From Wednesday 1 st February to Wednesday 5 th April 2017, training with be at North Oxfordshire Academy, on the grass, 6pm to 7pm. (Athletics track). In order to continue with the development of the training and the skills of our players, outside training is essential. The team are now too big to train inside and we need the outside space to enhance skills. Please come prepared, wrapped up, ready to train.

2017/2018 Season In preperation for next year s season of 11 a side, we are on the look out for new players to enhance the squad. The advert has been placed on line. Presentation Evening We will be holding a Presentation evening to celebrate the 2 nd year of BSYFC on Friday 5 th May at 7.30pm at Banbury Cricket Club. Due to the success of last year, we will be holding a raffle so please keep hold of any fantastic gifts / prizes that you can donate. You are welcome to bring Grandparents/family members and tickets will be available later in the year.

Trip to St Georges Park As you are all aware, it s always been our ethos to try and reward the players at the end of the season. With this is mind we are suggesting a trip to St Georges Park, Staffordshire. St Georges Park is the home to England s 24 national teams providing world class facilities for all England teams ahead of international fixtures and our team would live the day as an international footballer.. Details: The club will cover the cost of the players to take part in this special experience. If parents do not wish to go then Jason, Shane, Donna and Jo would take responsibility of those individual boys. We would plan to take this tour in May/June time.

Getting there: We are considering hiring a coach to save parents having to drive. The cost of the coach is around 12.50 per person (if full coach filled), so if this is of interest to you we would need to ask you to cover this. If the coach isn t filled, we may need to look at a smaller coach and so this price may increase. Additionally, there is an optional extra for the spectators/parents to complete a tour of St Georges Park at 9 per adult. Before we make any bookings, we need confirmation from you as to ascertain interest. Please let us know by email by Friday 3 rd Feb 2017 if: a) Your son would be interested in going and you would be happy to drive/share lifts. b) As parents, would like to pay 9 for the optional tour c) We would all like to go by coach and happy to cover this cost (if so please confirm actual numbers so we can decide on coach size) d) We are not interested in any of the above and would prefer an alternative treat for the boys. Forthcoming Tournament Dates Sunday 4 th June all squad required We are awaiting further dates to be published regarding other tournaments. However, this year, we will do less summer tournaments as we are considering trying to arrange 11 a side friendlies to prepare for the new season.

Coaches Jason and Shane have continued with their professional development this season. They have completed their Emergency First Aid course, Child Protection course and have attended a defensive strategy CPD course. Parents support Thank you to the parents that help the club with match day reports, setting up and clearing away, referring and linesman duties and of course supporting Jo and Donnas Café and most of all turning up each week cheering on the players. This benefits the whole club and your extra support means we operate a friendly, efficient and professional club. AGM We will be holding an annual AGM on Thursday 11 th May 2017 from 5.30pm to 7pm at the Horse and Jockey, Bodicote for those that wish to attend.
