It really is amazing how our members chip in to make MCC what it is. There are many contributors, some ask not to be named, but everyone that helps is appreciated. We are still having issues with folks who drive the back nine and don t stop while people are playing golf. Please have some golf etiquette and stop while people are hitting their shots. I would not think you would want to hear someone driving their carts while you are playing. We also have had members driving too close to the greens, one even parked on the green the other day. This is not acceptable and letters will be sent out with the possibility of a fine. Please police each other and remind folks to keep carts 30 yards away from the greens and tees. We are still within 3216 budget for the year and this BOD is constantly looking for ways to maximize our production with minimum expense. With that being said, we all know the 4 th qtr. is always tough for us. I encourage you to make use of the club as much as possible. Remember, we are open on Saturday nights for dinner. In the past few weeks, we have had great response. We will be having our annual membership meeting on October 25 th at 6:00 pm. I hope you all can make it. See you all at the club! Page 3 Maumelle Country Club October 2018 T U R F TALK What a fast and furious summer, time flies when you re having fun. It really is hard to believe how fast the summer comes and goes. The autumn weather is refreshing to most, me personally, I will miss the hot weather. The Club Championship was a success, thank you to all who helped keep us caught up. I would like to take this opportunity to especially thank the turfgrass crew, the guys in our department have worked exceptionally hard, put up with me and went above and beyond to provide championship conditions. Thank you, Alfredo, Ben, Stuart, Lorenzo, Jose, George, and Mike for all your hard work and dedication to making the golf course better than we left it the day before. I m proud and fortunate to have such great co-workers and even better friends, thank you guys for all your all s hard work. All these guys work their tails off, they all have family and kids they support and go home to everyday, I hope if you see them working on the course you might take a minute to tell them thanks for their work and great job. With Fall here, it s time to apply our pre-emerge for winter and spring weeds. This year we will be using two different products, one around the green surrounds only, and 3255 the other, a less expensive one, will be applied to tees and fairways and some roughs. We have also been spraying for summer annual weeds with a post emergence pesticide as of late, mostly in secondary rough areas and non-irrigated areas, to help clean up the course and be weed free is our goal. The Greens Committee and I will be presenting some long-term goals for the course as well as some short-term projects to the board and the members. We all know there are plenty of projects that could be performed and many items the golf course needs. We are presently identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing the needs for the golf course, as we all know there are many, e.g. bunkers, irrigation, green covers, and the list goes on and on, but nothing we can t handle. We look forward to a great fall, small and big improvements, and making the course better each day. Please remember to repair divots and ball marks, also to rake bunkers for the players behind you. See you on the course. S AVE T H E DATE... Find your member number and win one free steak dinner. You must claim your dinner before the last business day of the month.

Page 4 Maumelle Country Club October 2018 C LUB H O U S E M A N A G E R Fall is back Football is back and right around the corner come the holidays. Don t wait till the last minute and miss out on getting your party booked here at the club. The dates will go quick! Chef Paul and I can design a special menu for your particular group. One of the best parts of membership is the price of using the ballrooms at a greatly reduced cost. The club will be decorated for the season and it always looks great this time of year. Happy Hour Tuesday- Friday 5-7pm It looks as if our opening on Saturdays is going pretty well so far and if we can continue to keep up our interest we can continue to offer this additional service going forward. We have been cooking up a comfort food special on Saturday Nights and made it affordable so you have no choice but to come enjoy dinner here at the club. Right now, there 3371 are two Saturday events that will prevent us from opening for Saturday service and that is October 13 th and October 20 th. One is the Octoberfest Party on the 13th, in which you are all invited and October 20 th which is a Class Reunion for some of our members. Details for the Octoberfest will come to you soon and once again everyone is invited. Finally, October holds my favorite event at the club and that is our Trick or Treat on the course. I love it and I know the kids love it too. If you have never seen all of the kids and all of the golf carts all lined up, it is a sight to see. You don t have to have kids to participate. Come be a part of this fun event that kicks off the holidays around here. It s a blast. H O L E IN ONE Bill Burkhalter Hole #8 148 yards 8 Iron Bob Billeaud Hole #8 107 yards SW GREAT JOB!
