Student Concert Information Packet VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Many volunteers are needed for a production of this size. The job is too big for the staff alone. We need your help. Volunteers needed: Class moms for each day at the theatre. (Elementary Ballet 1 through Intermediate Ballet 1) o Note: We can arrange for class moms to be in the audience for their dancer s ballet. Check-In Desk person(s) for each day at the theatre. Stand-by person ready for anything. Clean up crew for about an hour after the performance.
Greensboro Ballet Student Concert: Saturday May 5, 2018 3:00pm at the Carolina Theatre Enclosed is information about the upcoming student concert. Please read thoroughly! It answers many questions and shows you how to help make the concert a great success for your dancer! This year s concert will be at Carolina Theatre which is located at 310 S. Greene St. Any student concert is a large undertaking. We will need your patience and cooperation to help the rehearsals and concert run smoothly. Please make every effort to have your dancer arrive on time and prepared. PHOTO AND VIDEO Greensboro Ballet does not arrange for a professional photo session for group or individual photos. However, parents are welcome to photograph and video during the dress rehearsal on Friday, May 5 with the exception of the finale COMPANY TRAINEE piece Donizetti. PLEASE, NO FLASH! Also: Due to theatre policy, and as a courtesy to fellow audience members, no videotaping or photography of any kind will be allowed during the performance on Saturday, May 5 There will be a DVD of the performance available. There will be order forms at the school concert. TICKETS Greensboro Ballet s student concert is FREE and the public is invited. No tickets are necessary. Friday, May 4 TECHNICAL/DRESS REHEARSAL SCHEDULE AT THE CAROLINA THEATRE Come to the theater with hair in a bun, no bangs, wear make-up base, blush, eye shadow, mascara, eye brow pencil and red lipstick. NO JEWELRY, NO PAINTED FINGERNAILS, NO BODY GLITTER! All dancers must wear their own tights, clean shoes, and uniform leotard where appropriate. Report to stage door entrance, check in, and go to your assigned dressing room. Get into your costume. Wait QUIETLY to be brought to the stage when it is your turn to dance. Then you ll return to the dressing room where you will LEAVE YOUR COSTUME and change into your street clothes promptly. No one will be allowed backstage except dancers, volunteers, and staff. If you need to deliver something to a dancer, please do so through the check in desk. Cell phones are to be left in the dressing room. DO NOT bring them to the stage. DO NOT invite friends or family backstage or to your dressing room. Please, DO NOT WEAR underwear that shows below your leotard OR bras that show outside of your leotard. Dress rehearsal is considered a full performance; please do not cut any corners. It is considered inappropriate to leave the theatre and /or sit in the audience with dance clothes showing (tights/leotard). Please change or cover-up completely. It is also considered inappropriate to leave the theatre or to sit in the audience while still wearing stage make-up and with hair performance-ready. However, let us waive that impropriety for the sake of convenience during this student concert event!

NO ONE MAY USE THE TUNNEL DURING THE PERFORMANCE. ONLY DURING INTERMISSIONS OR PAUSES IN THE PERFORMANCE. We encourage all BEAUTY AND THE BEAST dancers to meet your parents in the lobby or at the stage door after the end of ACT I and return to your seats to view the remainder of the performance. Note: PETER PAN dancers, after your Ballet, we encourage you to change fast OR just throw something over your costume and meet your parents in the lobby so you may view DONIZETTI. Feel free to leave your stuff in the dressing room to be picked up after the performance.
No dancer will be permitted to watch from backstage. When you are finished with your dance, go straight to your dressing room and get ready for your next dance or to go home. During rehearsals and performances is NOT the time to approach Mr. D, Ms. Mayfield or the staff with questions or concerns. Relay your questions and concerns to the person at the check in desk or to the class mom. The dressing rooms are fairly small. It will be very important for all dancers to treat each other with respect, to keep our voices quiet and our activities calm. Boys are not allowed in the girls dressing room for any reason whatsoever.
