Rules of the Bradford Fair Horse Show All classes are open to everyone meeting the criteria listed for the class; you need not be an affiliated club member to participate! If entries warrant classes will be further divided. LOCAL FARRIERS: Matt Trask (on call) 802-299-1537 LOCAL VETERINARIAN: Oxbow Veterinary (on call) 802-222-4635 RESCUE/EMT: On grounds or Call 911 FOOD CONCESSION: on Fairgrounds HEALTH REQUIREMENTS: The show management requires proof of a negative Coggins Test certificate and a Rabies Vaccination Certificate (or proof thereof) dated within 12 months for EVERY ANIMAL. No exhibitor and their equine will be allowed to stay on show grounds without proof of a negative Coggins and Rabies vaccination. It is the responsibility of exhibitors from out-of-state traveling into Vermont, to meet the State of Vermont s Ag. & Market Health requirement laws. STABLING: There are no stabling facilities at the fairground. FEES & REFUND POLICY: Class fees are $8 each pre-entry, $10 after postmark date or at show. Entry fees MUST be paid before entering classes. A signed, blank check made out to CVF may be included with your entries as payment. There will be a $30.00 surcharge, plus collection fees added to all checks returned by the bank. All entries not paid in full at the show will be charged a $25.00 billing fee. There will be no class fee refunds without a veterinarian certificate or a doctor certificate presented or received within 24 hours of the conclusion of the show. No VHSA show offers refunds due to inclement weather, unless the show itself is cancelled due to severe weather. RULES: Exhibitors are responsible for knowing the rules pertaining to the classes they enter. Every class offered herein is covered by the rules and specifications of the current VHSA, USEF and/or specific breed Rule Books and will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. By signing the entry form you agree to abide by all the rules of this show. RULE BOOKS are available at the secretary s stand for reviewing. NOTE: PLEASE SEE HARD HAT RULE PUBLISHED IN THE VHSA RULE BOOK. ATTIRE & EQUIPMENT: All riders, drivers and attendants shall be neatly, cleanly and correctly attired for the class in which they are exhibiting. It shall be the prerogative of the show manager, the judge and/or the steward to exclude from the ring, anyone whom they do not consider suitably presented to appear before the audience interested in their class. Definitions of correct attire can be found in the current VHSA Rule Book or any of the specific breed rulebooks. All animals being exhibited shall have the correct equipment for the class in which they are exhibiting. It shall be the prerogative of the show manager, the judge and/or the steward to exclude from the ring, any animal that they do not consider suitably equipped to show in their class. Definitions of correct equipment can be found in the current VHSA Rule Book or any of the specific breed.
Leadline ages 3-10 years Advanced Beginner ages 5-18 Beginner ages 5-18 years Junior ages 5-13 years Senior ages 14-18 years Adult & Adult walk trot ages 19 & over Green Horse or Pony must be shown by an adult 19 years or over Leadline Showmanship To be accompanied by an adult 18 years old or older. To be judged on showmanship with equine shown in hand, standing and at a walk on the line; also on fitting, evidenced by grooming, condition, neatness and sportsmanship. Conformation not to count. Leadline Hunter Hack Crossrails to be shown at a walk only both ways of the ring on the rail, accompanied by an adult 18 years old or older. To jump 2 cross rails at a walk in a two-point position. Cross-rails not to exceed 18. To be judged 60% on jumping ability and 40% on rail performance. No martingales are permitted. Mustang in Hand Open to BLM adopted mustangs shown by adult (Not a VHSA class) To be judged on showmanship in hand, standing & walk, trot on lead; also on fitting, grooming, condition, neatness and sportsmanship. Conformation not to count. Pattern will be posted 30 minutes before class. Adaptive - Adaptive classes are open to anyone who has a physical or cognitive challenge with no limit to rider s age, or gender. These classes are for independent riders, unless designated as Leadline. Sidewalker will be allowed but may not coach riders while in the ring. Correct riding attire for the discipline riding is expected. Adaptive tack may be used that is appropriate to riding skill & horse, both English & Western turnout are acceptable. Appropriate helmet must be worn by rider, no exception. Coaching from the rail will be penalized at judge s discretion. Equitation 60% rider, 40% horse. Exhibitors are strongly encouraged to wear ASTM/SEI protective headgear in any classes without penalty from the judge.
