City of Florence Athletic Field Use Policy A. Purpose To manage the City of Florence athletic fields in a manner to assure equitable distribution without risking the quality of our facilities. This will be accomplished by using the following: 1. Outline the available fields and dates of usage. 2. Outline the facility scheduling policies and procedures. 3. Define rules and regulations regarding usage. 4. Define the fees and charges for use of the fields. 5. Manage the limited number of athletic fields in a fair and equitable manner. B. Available Athletic Fields The City of Florence Recreation Department is responsible for scheduling practices for league athletic fields. The following City league athletic fields are available to schedule for practice-only use: League Athletic Fields: 1. Maple Park 2. McLeod Park 3. Northside Park The City of Florence Recreation Department reserves the right to suspend field availability during opportunities for necessary field maintenance requirements, recreation events, and/or periods of inclement weather.
Neighborhood Athletic Fields: 1. Iola Jones Park 2. Levy Park 3. Northwest Park 4. Southpark Neighborhood athletic fields are intended for immediate neighborhood use, and are available to organized athletic groups for practice on a drop-in basis. The City of Florence Recreation Department reserves the right to suspend field availability during opportunities for necessary field maintenance requirements, recreation events, and/or periods of inclement weather. C. Scheduling Procedures 1. The City of Florence Recreation Department reserves the right to limit the amount of practice permitted on our athletic fields. 2. All teams wanting to use our league athletic fields shall submit an Athletic Field Use Agreement and Certificate of Liability before they are able to put in a practice request. 3. Practices are scheduled thru the City of Florence Recreation Department. No practices can be scheduled during league play or winter months (December July). There may also be blackout dates thru the period of August- November for field maintenance, recreation events, etc. 4. Practice requests must be submitted the week prior to the date the league athletic fields are being requested. Requests cannot be made ahead of the week before the scheduled date. Practices can be scheduled by contacting the Recreation Department at 665-3253. 5. Practices at our neighborhood athletic fields are on a drop-in basis. Practices do not have to be scheduled since they are on a first come, first served basis.
D. Fees and Charges 1. Fees and charges may be assessed for use of any athletic field to help partially offset park operational costs. The City of Florence Recreation Department reserves the right to increase league athletic field usage fees if they incur additional costs. 2. Field light charges are $25 per hour, per field. Payment must be received prior to the scheduled date. 3. Fees will be waived and/or refunded for practices that are rained out by the City or cancelled by the City for maintenance, weather, etc. E. Rules and Regulations - Teams may not use league athletic fields unless pre-scheduled. - Please do not use fencing or backstops for batting practice, soft toss, pickle, etc. - Do not pitch or hit from grassed areas. Please place rubber mats over the grassed area if pitching or throwing in front of the pitching mound. Mats need to be removed before leaving the field. - Infield, pitching mound, and home plate area must be raked properly after each practice. Also, make sure to fill in all holes and to rake or push the clay away from the grass areas. - Our athletic fields will be maintained on the normal seasonal schedule. This includes mowing, lining, dragging, etc. Fields will not be dragged or lined during the months we open for travel baseball teams to practice. - Teams or organizations using any City of Florence athletic field for travel ball practice will be responsible for damages incurred to the facility during their scheduled timeslot.
- No alcoholic beverages or narcotic drugs are allowed at any City of Florence athletic fields, or within any City of Florence parks. - No trash should be left on the field, in the dugouts, around the bleachers, or in the parking lot. - No pets are allowed inside our athletic fields. Service dogs are allowed. - Please park only in designated areas. - Misuse of the City of Florence athletic fields may result in loss of scheduling privileges. - All park guidelines set forth by the City of Florence Recreation Department must be followed at all times.

I understand that the City of Florence can, at its sole discretion, modify, eliminate, revise, or deviate from the Policy as circumstances or situations warrant. I also understand that any changes made by the City of Florence with respect to these Policies, can supersede, modify, or eliminate any of the policies in this packet. I accept responsibility for familiarizing myself with the Policy and will seek verification or clarification of its terms or guidance where necessary. I have read and fully understand all the rules and regulations. Furthermore, I understand that I should consult with the Athletic Director or a Representative of the City of Florence Recreation Department if I have any questions that are not answered in the City of Florence Athletic Field Use Policy.
