Strategies for Playing Aggressive & Conservative: If you are starting a possession on your own 20 yard line and you are behind by two scores you might consider playing aggressive offense to start the drive, switch to a mix of conservative and aggressive as you cross mid-field, and then play conservative when you get further into your opponents territory. Your opponent will likely play conservative defense at the start, switch to a mix as you cross mid-field, and then play aggressive as you near his goal-line. If you are starting a possession on your own 20 yard line and you are ahead by two scores you might consider playing conservative offense for the entire drive. Your opponent will likely play aggressive defense for the entire drive. Conservative defenses eliminate the risk of an immediate touchdown but tend to yield more yards on the other outcomes. Aggressive defenses have the risk of an immediate touchdown but create the opportunity of a turnover and tend to yield fewer yards on the other outcomes. Turnovers and immediate touchdowns can occur only when both sides choose aggressive plays. Sacks and tackles for a loss can occur only when both sides choose conservative plays. 4
