ROCAPLEN rpp 45-3 1 IDENTIFICATION OF THE SUBSTANCE/PREPARATION AND THE COMPANY Trade name : ROCAPLEN rpp 45-3 Chemical family : Recycled PP- granules Company : Address : Buzau, Str. Transilvaniei, nr.132, 120012 Telephone No. : +40 238 711 155 Fax No. : +40 238 710 697 2 - COMPOSITION / INFORMATION ABOUT INGREDIENTS CHEMICAL NAME Recycled Polypropylene PE, other polymers, Pigments, Filler, Additives CONTENT PROCENT, % PP >85 different <15 3 HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION Information concerning particular hazards for human and environment Negligible hazard at ambient temperature (-18 C to 50 C). Dust particles may explode if exposed to open flame. Temperature may exceed flash point. Static discharge and shock is possible with the accumulation of static charges, storage containers should be grounded. Spraying molten plastic may result in the spreading of fire due to splashing of material. 4 FIRST AIDS MEASURES After skin contact Essentially non-irritating to skin, mechanical injury only. Molten plastic may cause thermal burns. After eye contact aaaaaaa Page 1 of 7
Solid or dust may cause irritation or corneal injury due to mechanical action. Thermal vapors may cause eye irritation. Particulates may cause mechanical irritation and abrasion. After inhalation No harmful effects expected, if any symptoms obtain medical support. After Ingestion Particulates may cause choking if swallowed. No known toxicity. If any symptoms obtain medical support. 5 FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES Auto Ignition Temperature: ND Flash Point: NA Extinguishing media: water spray, chemical foam, carbon dioxide, halogen-type extinguishers.. Unusual fire/explosion hazards may form flammable dust-air mixture Fire-fighting equipment: because fire may produce toxic thermal decomposition products, wear a self- or positive- contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) with a full facepiece operated in pressure demand pressure mode. Hazardous combustion products: carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide and smoke. Under certain conditions some aliphatic aldehydes and carboxylic acids may form. Fire-fighting instructions: do not releasee runoff from fire control methods to sewers or waterways. 6 ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Containment Method: when cleaning up spilled material, keep unnecessary people away, isolate area, and deny entry until the spilled material has been removed. Scoop up material and place in a chemical waste container. Suction up remaining material using a high efficiency vacuum cleaner. Avoid suspending particles in the air. Extreme caution should be used as material presents a slip hazard. Spills into storm water should be reported for proper clean-up handling by environmental experts. Reporting Requirements: follow applicable OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910.120). aaaaaaa Page 2 of 7
7 HANDLING AND STORAGE HANDLING Keep containers closed at all times. Avoid creating dust. Keep away from ignition sources. STORAGE This product must be stored in a cool, ventilated place. Avoid direct sunlight. Avoid freezing and drying of resin. Store in tightly closed containers to prevent moisture contamination. Keep the container closed until it is ready for use. When the plastic foil is opened store in a container together with a desiccant to maintain product quality. Spills should be cleaned immediately to prevent slip hazards and environmental contamination. Accumulated dust and debris should be removed from storage area. Grounding of equipment and storage vessels is is recommended to prevent static shock. Do not smoke. Take precautions to prevent static buildup. Wear electrical protective equipment. It is forbidden to light the fire. Regulatory requirements: follow all applicable local, state, and Federal Regulations..8 EXPOSURE CONTROL AND PERSONAL EXPOSURE VENTILATION The best protection is to enclose operations and/or to provide local exhaust ventilation at the site of chemical release in order to maintain airborne concentrations of the product below OSHA PELs. Local exhaust ventilation is preferred because it prevents contaminant dispersion into the work area by controlling it at its source. Adequate ventilation is recommended. Specialized ventilation may be required by extruders or in areas with poor air flow. Ignition sources should be identified and controlled before product is introduced. If dust/angel hair is produced in production process, special vacuum and ventilation may be required. Material lines and storage containers should be grounded or banded. aaaaaaa Page 3 of 7
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION Improper use of respirators is dangerous. Seek professional advice prior to respirator selection and use. Follow OSHA respirator regulation (29 CFR 1910.137 and 1910.137), and if necessary, wear a NIOSH approved respirator. Select the respiratorr based on its suitability to provide adequate worker protection for given work, conditions, level of airbone contamination, and presence of sufficient oxygen. For emergency or non-routine operations (cleaning spills, reactor vessel, or storage tanks) wear an SCBA. Warning! Air purifying respirators do not protect worker in oxygen-deficient atmospheres. If respirators are used, OSHA requires a written respiratory protection program that includes at least: medical certification, training, fit testing, periodic environmental monitoring, maintenance, inspection, cleaning and convenient, sanitary storage area. PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT Wear chemically protective gloves, boots, aprons and gauntlets to prevent prolonged or repeated skin contact. Wear splash-proof chemical goggles and face shield when working with liquid, unless full facepiece respiratory protection is worn. Contact lenses are not eye protective devices. Appropriate eye protection must be worn instead of, or in conjunction with contact lenses. SAFETY STATION Make emergency eyewash stations, safety/quick-drench showers, and washing facilities available in work area. CONTAMINATED EQUIPMENT Separate contaminated work clothes from street clothes. Launder before reuse. Remove material from your shoes and clean personal protective equipment. Never take home contaminated clothing. COMMENTS Never eat, drink, or smoke in work areas. Practice good personal hygiene after using this material, especially before eating, drinking, smoking, using the restroom, or apply cosmetics. aaaaaaa Page 4 of 7
