2018-2019 Travel Hockey Information Lancaster County Youth Amateur Hockey League ( LCYAHL ) Lancaster Firebirds Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success Lancaster Ice Rink 371 Carerra Drive Lancaster, PA 17601 717-581-0274 lirhockey@comcast.net www.lancasterfirebirds.org

General LCYAHL Information Mission of LCYAHL: To provide a safe and challenging environment that promotes skill enhancement, teamwork, and sportsmanship for competitive youth hockey. Philosophy: The philosophy of LCYAHL is consistent with that of USA Hockey for its Youth Programs: "To provide an improved grass-roots foundation for the growth and development of USA Hockey, designing programs aimed at increased participation, improved skills, and a responsible environment for the conduct of youth hockey." Membership Opportunities: The LCYAHL is a non-profit organization which is owned and operated by its membership. The operation of a hockey program and the ice rink itself takes the time and energy of many individuals in order to be successful. There are numerous volunteer positions available to the LCYAHL membership and every member is encouraged to participate, no matter what skills or interests they might have. Volunteer positions include: Board member, committee member, team coach, team manager, clock operator, and scorekeeper. For more information on ways to volunteer please contact any member of the Board of Directors in person or through the Lancaster Firebirds website. Monthly Board of Directors Meetings: The LCYAHL Board of Directors meets on a monthly basis to discuss issues and projects specific to the Lancaster Firebirds hockey program and the Lancaster Ice Rink. Meetings are normally held on the 4 th Monday of the month at 7:00 pm at Homewood Suites-200 Granite Run Drive. LCYAHL members are encouraged to attend these meetings in order to gain an insight into what is happening at the Lancaster Ice Rink and to have a voice in the direction that the LCYAHL is heading. Board of Directors positions are available to those members who have a desire to help set the future direction of the LCYAHL. USA Hockey - American Development Model (ADM): The American Development Model, with support from the National Hockey League, is a nationwide initiative that was announced by USA Hockey. The LCYAHL complies with all aspects of USA Hockey s ADM program as set forth by the Atlantic District and DVHL. More information about the ADM can be found on the DVHL website at www.dvhl.org. Hockey Director: Larry Courville will oversee the development of all coaches and players within guidelines provided by USA Hockey and the American Development Model (ADM). After a successful junior hockey career which included an IIHF U20 gold medal with Team Canada, Larry was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in 1995. His 12 year professional playing career included 33 games in the NHL. In 6 of his 10 full seasons at the AHL and ECHL levels, Larry was named team captain, attesting to his outstanding character and leadership ability. He served 9 seasons as head coach and director of player personnel for the ECHL Reading Royals, highlighted by a Kelly Cup championship in 2012-2013. Larry is no stranger to the Lancaster Firebirds, having served as hockey director for three years prior to coaching the Royals. 1
