ONSHORE > DEVELOPMENT IS YOUR TALL MAST STILL TOO SHORT? Reduce shear uncertainty by measuring to turbine hub height, top tip and beyond. Reduce horizontal uncertainty by moving around the wind farm site. Improve the accuracy of flow modelling by measuring at multiple nodes in the wind farm. Why? ZephIR 300 makes your Energy Yield Analysis / wind measurement campaign more accurate, moving quicker and easier to finance. Why estimate the wind when you can measure it, with ZephIR 300. Operate seamlessly throughout the winter when icing may be a challenge for cup anemometers. 11 12

ONSHORE > DEVELOPMENT STANDALONE WIND MEASUREMENTS Entirely replace the need for a met mast within an Energy Yield Analysis wind / measurement campaign. Why? ZephIR 300 allows your Energy Yield Analysis / wind measurement campaign to start tomorrow. Remove uncertainties associated with met masts including flow distortion, cup calibration and seasonal issues. Remove all planning permits required for tall mast structures. Classification of ZephIR 300 confirms extremely low uncertainty wind measurement comparable to, or in some cases better than, Class 1 mechanical cup anemometers. Remove Working at Height considerations by actively working towards industry best practice. 13 14

ONSHORE > DEVELOPMENT ADOPT A SHORTER MET MAST METHO DOLOGY FROM THE START - SAVE MONEY AND TIME Enable a short met mast methodology easily and cost effectively progressing multiple sites across your wind portfolio. Reduce shear uncertainty by measuring to turbine hub height, top tip and beyond. Reduce horizontal uncertainty by moving around the wind farm site. Why? ZephIR 300 makes your Energy Yield Analysis / wind measurement campaign more accurate, faster moving and easier to finance. Why install tall masts on every site when you can progress multiple sites with a roaming ZephIR 300 and a fixed short mast. Improve the accuracy of flow modelling by measuring at multiple nodes in the wind farm. 15 16

ONSHORE > DEVELOPMENT EDF ER has deployed ground based lidar ZephIR 300 in place of traditional mast anemometry. In this application ZephIR 300 provides a low visual impact, safer approach to wind resource assessment measuring higher, faster and to a greater level of wind detail than currently possible with meteorological towers. 17 18

ONSHORE > DEVELOPMENT ACCURATE WIND MEASUREMENTS IN C OMPLEX FLOW Entirely replace the need for a met mast within an Energy Yield Analysis wind / measurement campaign in complex flow conditions. Why? In areas of complex flow any comparisons between measurement devices will be biased by the non laminar flow. Overcome logistical and practical issues of siting met masts in complex terrain or forestry. Use CFD conversion to provide a traceable, auditable comparison of ZephIR 300 data to expected mast data. CFD conversion of ZephIR 300 data is extensively validated, independently accepted and makes the use of stand-alone lidar in complex flow possible. Work with industry leaders in CFD such as Natural Power and Meteodyn for your data conversions. 19 20

THE ECONOMIC BENEFITS FINANCIAL JUSTIFICATIONS FOR LIDARS DURING DEVELOPMENT Wind resource assessment determines the long-term wind resource and flow characteristics across the project site. Wind turbine siting, specification and suitability studies can then be performed. In addition the long-term wind resource can be calculated. This is all to ensure that accurate annual and life-time energy yield predictions can be made, including an assessment of the uncertainty in such calculations. ZephIR 300 delivers measurements at heights across the entire rotor-swept area, confirming hub-height resource as well as wind shear, veer and turbulence across the rotor. Shear extrapolation bias and uncertainty are therefore greatly reduced. ZephIR 300 improves flow model accuracy through multiple spatially separated measurement points on the site for model verification and tuning. Advanced flow models provide significantly improved horizontal and vertical extrapolation of measured wind resource, especially in complex and forested terrain. ZephIR 300 is re-deployable, portable and does not require lengthy planning applications before installation. Data can be collected easily at multiple points on a site to provide representative measured data for all turbine locations and tuning / verification points for flow models further reducing uncertainty and ensuring the right turbine type is chosen. These reductions in uncertainty and bias improve the potential profitability of a wind farm through more certain wind resource assessment. Further, understanding of wind flow for wind turbine performance through power curve measurements across the entire rotor diameter to IEC 61400-12-1 is achieved. WHAT DO THE BANKS SAY? DNV GL: CLEAR GUIDELINES FOR BANKING ON REMOTE SENSORS DNV GL has been widely acknowledged as a globally recognised technical authority on wind energy for three decades. The company has applied this authority to the emerging field of remote sensing, specifically its use in the context of the development and financing of wind farm projects. Their analysis notes that cup anemometers have been the industry standard for measuring wind speed at wind farm sites and therefore they must be considered the benchmark against which any alternative measurement device must be compared. DNV GL considers ZephIR 300 to be at Stage 3 under benign conditions - accepted for use in bankable / finance-grade wind speed and energy assessments with either no or limited on-site met mast comparisons. ZephIR was the first wind lidar system to achieve accreditation at this level. STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 Limited validation of device against Moving to formal wind speed /energy conventional met masts over a range of assessments based in part on data from the heights (50m 120m), achieving a similar level device, but only with site-specific validations of accuracy in measurement. against conventional anemometry. 23 24

ZephIR DM is the only lidar capable of full rotor diameter wind measurements, delivering a power curve measurement equivalent to current and future IEC guidelines. 29 30

ONSHORE > OPERATION PERMANENT MET ZEPHIR (PMZ) Entirely replace the need for a Permanent Met Mast with a Permanent Met ZephIR. Remove annual met mast calibration requirements and safety / insurance walkdowns. Remove all planning permits and changes to planning required for tall mast structure. Remove the need to work at height actively working towards industry Health & Safety best practice. Limit ground-work costs and timescales by installing a simple lidar compound only. Why? Permanent Anemometry allows for performance testing, noise assessments and insurance / outage claims. ZephIR 300 provides low 10m measurements through to tip height and above, and can be SCADA / grid integrated providing a new standard in operational wind measurements. 31 32

ONSHORE > OPERATION MET MAST VERIFICATION Verify neglected or old met masts with industry reference lidar, ZephIR 300. Validate wind shear model used for wind speeds above met mast while on site. Identify flow distortion at the anemometer caused by the mast itself. Confirm any deterioration in anemometry calibration that can occur over time. Discover misalignment of anemometry with respect to the mast. ZephIR 300 can be deployed for less than 4 weeks to verify your met mast measuring wind speeds and characteristics from as low as 10 metres to as high as 200 metres ensuring correlations may be performed on even the shortest masts. Detect anemometry failings during freezing temperatures or other extreme wind events. 33 34

ONSHORE & OFFSHORE > OPER ATION POWER CURVE TESTING - FROM THE T URBINE Understand your turbine s true potential with a nacelle based power curve measurement. Remove uncertainties with flow distortion around nacelle anemometry by measuring ahead of the turbine in free wind flow. Benchmark turbine-to-turbine performance to identify any early underperformance from blade erosion, forestry effects or other mechanical issues. See the full rotor equivalent wind approaching the turbine to identify wakes, ground-effects and yaw misalignment. Why?
