BACKGROUND In 2007, the RYA introduced PWC certification for private and charter yachts so that guests and owners could be issued with PWC licenses, as required by an increasing number of coastal authorities. In order for a yacht to be able to issue these licenses, it must employ a PWC Instructor and become an RYA Recognised Teaching Centre. All centres must have a nominated principal and the recognition sits with both the yacht and the individual. Following many requests from the superyacht charter industry, we have launched a new basic PW course for guests using PWs during their charter holiday 'The Introduction to Personal Watercraft Safety Course'. www.rya.org.uk Personal Watercraft feature aboard many charter yachts and you can be sure that guests will always want to use them, regardless of their ability or experience. In addition, an increasing number of coastal authorities are demanding that appropriate licenses are held by the PWC operator.

SOLUTION Bristol Maritime Academy (formerly Blueprint Watersports) has been instrumental in developing watersports solutions at all levels. With this experience we have created a fast and easy process to ensure you quickly become a fully equipped RYA Centre. WHY CHOOSE BRISTOL MARITIME ACADEMY? With over 30 years industry experience the founders of the business have been involved at the very top of the watersports industry. BMA have been heavily involved in managing and consulting on some of the worlds most successful watersports centres and government programmes. We have also been instrumental in the development of current training schemes, safety legislation and operational procedures for leisure activity companies and national sailing authorities around the world. We were so impressed with BMA s professional approach and training we have decided to have all our yachts sign up to the service" Exclusive Yacht Management (EYM) Lorri Bell, Managing Director CASE STUDY The captain and 5 of the crew of MY Solemar completed their RYA Personal Watercraft training with BMA and can now issue their guests with PWC Licenses. The 3 day Instructor course was run in Antibes using the yacht as the base and included theoretical and practical training and assessment. Following the training, M.Y SOLEMAR were inspected and passed as an RYA recognised teaching centre, allowing the crew to issue guests with the RYA Introduction to Personal Watercraft Safety Course license which will enhance the enjoyment and experience of their charter guests. And the best part is, the whole process took just 4 days! I wanted to make sure we were at the forefront of industry standards and training and BMA s professional, fast and simple approach gave us that. Captain M.Y Solemar

ADDITIONAL SUPERYACHT SERVICES POWERBOAT TRAINING Bristol Maritime Academy is also an RYA Recognised Powerboat Teaching establishment and the training team specialise in RYA Powerboat Driver and Instructor Training to drive or train in RIBS, Tenders and Tiller Steered Craft. It is important to ensure best practice and education in all areas of small craft driving and with this in mind BMA offers crews the chance to gain the internationally recognised RYA Powerboat Level 2 Certificate. This means that whether they are deck hands, engineers or general crew the Superyacht can ensure that they are not only qualified but trained in best practice of driving boats. COSTS RYA Powerboat Level 2 Maximum 3 people = 750 (Including Licences and books) Time training 2 day course or 1 day direct assessment. If they are already competent drivers then this can actually be done as a direct assessment in a maximum of 1 day with BMA supplying some training material before the course for practice purposes. With the RYA licences being recognised all over the world it can create a very professional, trained image for any crew.
