C. Worrad RACE 1: Benchmark 70 Handicap 1000m Ali Mountain Unable to improve rounding the home turn when held up on heels. Arabian King Eased from heels near the 800m. Cannizzaro When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding apprentice A. Sewell stated he intended to lead the event however his mount was unable to muster sufficient early speed and was caught three wide, without cover, throughout. A. Sewell stated that his mount failed to travel strongly at any stage of the event, failed to sprint rounding the home turn and was very disappointing in its run to the line. When questioned, trainer Ms N. Mccall stated that the gelding races best when able to lead uncontested and dictate terms. Ms Mccall added that the gelding will be leaving her stable. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality. Destiny s Lass Slow to begin and hampered shortly after. Overraced rounding the first turn. When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of the mare trainer Mr S. Phelps stated that the mare has shown in the past it races best when able to settle at the rear of a field behind a genuine tempo throughout the early and middle stages which it was afforded today. Mr Phelps added the mare was further aided by being able to improve along the rail, not having to cover any extra ground, in its run to the finish line. Punjab Rocket Began awkwardly. Signpost Inclined to overrace approaching and rounding the first turn. RACE 2: Class 2 Handicap 1000m: American Hero - Bumped on jumping. Asti Chops Unable to improve rounding the home turn when held up on heels. Bold Peak Bumped near the 800m. Shifted in abruptly near the 400m. 1
Delightful Feeling Bumped on jumping. Eased when awkwardly placed on heels rounding the first turn. Frisky Terror Laid in and bumped another runner near the 800m. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Jockey N. Thomas reported that his mount was inclined to hang in throughout the event. Mr Snowman Raced very wide throughout the event. Racey Macey Began awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages. Approaching the 400m was steadied when momentarily tightened for room by Bold Peak which shifted in abruptly away from Frisky Terror. Star Striker Began awkwardly. Whispering Wings Raced wide in the early and middle stages. RACE 3: 3&4YO Maiden Plate 1300m: Bringit Hampered approaching the 1100m. Inclined to overrace in the early stages. Call the Captain Declared a late scratching by order of stewards at 1.41pm after the gelding refused to load into the barriers. Stewards ordered that all wagers on the gelding be refunded and that all successful wagers placed with bookmakers prior to 1.41pm be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket, 2 cents the win and 1 cent the place for 1st (Tickled Pink), 3 cents the place for 2nd (Fashion Saga) and 3 cents the place for 3 rd (Magnolia Vale). Trainer Mr L. Murno was advised that the gelding is required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start. Cold Gold - Eased when tightened for room shortly after the start. Unable to improve rounding the home turn when held up on heels. Eased when tightened for room near the 100m. Good Catch Bumped approaching the first turn. Rounding the first turn was steadied from the heels of Soft Top which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey M. Paget (Soft Top) was issued a reprimand (AR137(a)). When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding jockey R. Wiggins stated that his mount enjoyed a comfortable run in a handy position, with cover, throughout the middle stages however was under pressure at the 600m to maintain that position. R. Wiggins added that his mount failed to respond to pressure from this point in any capacity and was very disappointing in its run to the line. When questioned, trainer Mr S. Morrissey was at a loss to explain the performance, advising that the geldings three runs to date had pleased and he had expected a forward showing today. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was beaten 20.3L, did not reveal any abnormality. Mr Morrissey was advised that the gelding is required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start. Guadalupe Eased when tightened for room shortly after the start. 2
Hear the Call Inclined to pull in the middle stages. Magnolia Vale Bumped and unbalanced passing the 100m. Mobile Bumped and unbalanced approaching the first turn. Momentarily tightened for room approaching the 200m. Panned Out Raced fiercely approaching the first turn. Raced very wide, without cover, throughout the entire event. Jockey Ms T. Harrison advised that that she did not place her mount under pressure down the straight as, after having a tough run throughout the early and middle stages, it failed to respond to pressure rounding the home turn and was a beaten horse. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was beaten 22.1L, did not reveal any abnormality. Trainer Mr S. Lee was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding for its poor performance. Trainer Mr S. Lee advised that the gelding would be spelled immediately. Soft Top Bumped near the 100m. Tickled Pink A post race veterinary examination of the mare revealed it to have a laceration to the near hind leg. RACE 4: Class 2 Handicap 1400m: Drill Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Near the 100m was obliged to ease and shift out around heels to continue to improve. Flambe Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure over the final 150m. Fogoso Near the 1200m was checked from heels for a number of strides. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding trainer Mr B. Guy stated the gelding first up run pleased and he was confident of its chances today. Mr Guy added the only explanation he could offer for the geldings poor performance was that it was second up after a lengthy spell. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to be lame in the off fore leg. Mr Guy was advised that the gelding requires a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to its next race start. Perran Beach Jockey A. Chau (Text Me) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, under AR137(a), in that near the 1200m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Fogoso, which was checked from his mounts heels for a number of strides and carried in onto the running of Perran Beach which was steadied. A. Chau s license to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday 11 September 2016 and to expire on Monday 19 September 2016, on which day he may ride. RACE 6: Newmarket Handicap 1250m: Boris Badenov When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding jockey J. Lloyd stated that he rode his mount with vigour in the early stages in an effort to obtain a forward position however his mount was unable to muster sufficient speed to cross the field and raced three wide, with cover, in a handy position. J. Lloyd stated that his mount made an awkward stride near the 600m however picked the bit up again. J. Lloyd stated that approaching the home turn his mount again made an awkward stride, and commenced to give ground, and he eased it out of the event as he was concerned something may be amiss with the gelding. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality. Trainer Mr C. Munce was advised that a warning would be placed on the performance of the gelding and that it requires a full veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. Dantga As M. Bennett was overweight stewards permitted apprentice J. Orman to replace him as the rider of the gelding. M. Bennett was fined $300 (AR120(b)). Fabry Buffeted between runners shortly after the start.
