GENERAL RULES Release of Liability 1. The Keystone Saddle Club members, show officials, sponsors, co-sponsoring organizations, and/or agents will not be responsible for any accident that may occur to, or be caused by any animal exhibited at the show, or for any article of any kind or nature that may be lost or destroyed or in any way damaged. 2. All exhibitors must have a signed release of liability on file at the entry booth. 3. Anyone under the age of eighteen (18) must have their release of liability signed by a parent or guardian. 4. All exhibitors or participants under the age of eighteen (18) at any function must have a parent, guardian, or responsible adult on the show grounds through the entire event. 5. Under NO circumstances will an exhibitor under the age of (18) be allowed to show a stallion that is over the age of one year. This includes the lead line classes. 6. The Keystone Saddle Club will not be responsible for any financial arrangements not completed between show management, exhibitors, owners, or judges. Age of Exhibitor 1. The age of an exhibitor is determined as of January 1 st of the calendar year. 2. Youth is considered eighteen (18) and under. 3. Adult is considered nineteen (19) and over. 4. Senior is considered thirty-nine (39) and over. *Applies to Contest and Pleasure Classes Age of Animal 1. The age of an animal is determined on the universal system that makes an animal one (1) year older each January 1 st of the calendar year. 2. Junior horses are considered five (5) and under. 3. Senior horses are considered six (6) and over. Entry 1. It is the exhibitor s responsibility to properly complete all entry forms and to know the rules. 2. Exhibitors are responsible for their own errors and those of the agents in the preparation of the entry form. 3. Open tabs are not permitted without a signed open check left at the entry booth and closed out after the show. 4. Make checks payable to: Keystone Saddle Club. 5. Any prior financial obligations must be cleared through the office prior to showing at another show. Thereafter, all entries must be paid in cash. 6. The entry form must be completely filled out and entry fees paid before an exhibitor may participate in any event or class. 7. The release of liability portion of the entry form must be signed before an exhibitor may participate in any event or class. 8. Keystone Saddle Club reserves the right to add, cancel, combine, change, or split any class prior to the start of that class. 9. The show committee reserves the right to decline any entry without being liable to compensation. The show committee does not accept responsibility for accidents or illness to horses, rider, grooms, spectators, or any other persons or personal property on the grounds. 10. The show committee reserves the right to measure any entry. 11. In the event that a class is stopped while in progress due to a storm, emergency, etc., the class may be held over with no consideration to the previous performance. If it becomes necessary to postpone the class to a different day, exhibitors are entitled to a refund of the entry fees without obligation to show. 4

Disqualifications 1. Horses must show calm and well-mannered behavior at all times. If unruly or threatening to other horses or riders, the horse will be dismissed from the ring. The judge may disqualify any animal that is not sufficiently gentle to be shown without danger to the public, show officials and/or exhibitors. The judge shall have the authority to dismiss any entry from the arena if the entry is not under sufficient control. 2. If any exhibitor shall attempt to interfere with the judge in the performance of his/her duties will be excluded from competing or exhibiting for the rest of the day. 3. Infractions of any other section of this Rule Book may lead to disqualification and/or removal of the person or persons responsible for the infractions from the show grounds. 4. Socializing with the judge prior to or during designated class scheduled times is not permitted. It is to the judge s discretion to socialize during breaks or after the end of the show. Sportsmanship 1. Exhibitors are advised that any acts of discourtesy towards the judge and show officials on the part of the owner, lessee, trainer, groom, rider, driver, or member of the family of the person showing will disqualify the horse from competition for the day. 2. Any exhibitor attempting to interfere with the judge in the performance of his/her duties, he or she will be excluded from competing or exhibiting for the day. 3. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. The following are examples of unsportsmanlike conduct. a. Public usage of obscene or vulgar language at a show or club function. b. Public physical fighting with another person, no exceptions. c. Writing a bad check to the KSC and refusing or failing to make it good upon demand. d. Public chastisement of a judge or other show official. e. Public contempt for the decision of a judge at a show. f. Intentionally or willfully violating any rule of the Club. g. Intentionally injuring an animal or another exhibitor. h. Public physical abuse of animals other than proper training or disciplining. i. Any act of dishonesty that affects or attempts to affect results of a class. Inhumane Treatment 1. Every animal on the KSC grounds shall, at all times, be treated humanely and with dignity, respect and compassion. Abuse is defined as an action, or failure to act, which a responsible, prudent person, informed and experienced in the customs, accepted training techniques and exhibition procedures, or veterinary standards would determine to be cruel, abusive, inhumane, or detrimental to the horses health. Individuals will be disciplined if it is determined that there was willful abuse of the horse under any of the following circumstances: A. The individual physically participates in the abuse of the animal or shows or rides the horse in a condition considered to be abusive. B. No persons shall exhibit any horse, which appears sullen, dull, lethargic, emaciated, drawn, or overly tired. C. No person on show grounds, including but not limited to, barns, stalls, practice area, and show arena, may treat a horse in an inhumane manner, which includes, but is not limited to: 1) Placing an object in a horse s mouth so as to cause undue discomfort or distress; 2) Tying a horse in a manner as to cause undue discomfort or distress in a stall, trailer, or when lunging or riding; 3) Use of inhumane training techniques or methods; 4) Use of inhumane equipment, including, but not limited to; saw tooth bits, hock hobbles, tack collars, or tack hackamores; 5) Any item or appliance that restricts movement or circulation of the tail; 6) Intentional inhumane treatment, which results in bleeding. 5

Lameness 1. The judge shall examine and check all horses brought into any class for lameness. This is essential regardless of whether or not the competition indicates it is necessary. 2. Obvious lameness shall be cause for disqualification. Obvious lameness is: A. Consistently observable at a trot under all circumstances. B. Marked nodding or hitching. C. Minimal weight bearing in motion and/or at rest and inability to move. 3. A judge s decision as to the lameness of a horse is final and not protestable. Drug Use No drugs are to be administered to any equine on the Keystone Saddle Club grounds except those with documentation from their Veterinarian. SHOW GROUND RULES General Rules 1. All KSC Show Ground Rules apply during any event at the KSC Show Grounds. 2. Any situation not covered in these rules will be left to the discretion of the club officers and show management. 3. Each member is responsible for his/her children and guests. Please be sure they follow all Rules and Guidelines. 4. Alcoholic beverages and/or illegal drugs are not permitted on the show grounds under any circumstances. 5. Glass containers are not permitted on the show grounds. 6. No fireworks are permitted on the show grounds. 7. Riders/exhibitors are not permitted to smoke, chew tobacco, and/or drink any beverage while showing in a class. 8. It is highly recommended that all exhibitors wear protective headgear at all times while riding an animal on the show grounds. Protective headgear is acceptable in any class even if it is not the style that goes with the class. 9. Riding double is not permitted on the show grounds except in designated classes. 10. Loping/Cantering is not permitted around parked vehicles, people, or animals. 11. A kicking horse must be flagged by a red ribbon on its tail. 12. All dogs must be leashed and in control at all times. 13. No animals are permitted in the concession stand and eating area. 14. Please keep horses away from the spectator bleachers and entry booth. 15. Do not tie horses to the arena fence, gates, light poles, or spectator bleachers. 16. Please do not climb over, stand on or sit upon the arena fence or gates. 17. Only the exhibitors and show officials will be allowed in the ring while any class is being judged. Handicapped riders may have an assistant in the ring only with prior approval by the show officials. Warm-Up and Intermissions 1. While riding or walking a horse/pony in the arena with others, please allow one horse length between it and the next animal. Do not crowd another s animal. 2. If switching rider/handlers or making equipment adjustments, please exit the arena or go to the middle of the arena as not to interfere with other riders/handlers who are working their animals along the rail. 3. There will be no conduct in the warm-up area or in the gate area, which disturbs or creates a hazard to the animals or handlers. 4. Anyone practicing in the show ring must vacate immediately upon request by any show official. 5. The same rules apply to the warm-up area as in the show arena. 6

OPEN SHOW SERIES RULES General Rules 1. Riders must display their numbers in a judged event. If your number cannot be seen by the judge or is not on during the class, you will not be judged; therefore, no placing will be given to you, no exceptions. 2. All entries are requested to come to the paddock prior to their class. The gate to the show ring will be closed 2 minutes after the first entry enters the ring. 3. Substitutions of another rider during the class will not be permitted. 4. If for any reason a judge cannot officiate, the committee reserves the right to substitute. 5. Walk-trot horse/rider combinations may not cross over into any canter and/or contest classes, including jackpot classes except in designated classes 6. Canter horse/rider combinations may not cross over, except in designated classes 7. Lead-line riders may not cross over into walk-trot or canter classes. 8. Official protests must be made in writing to the show series chairperson, signed and accompanied by a $50.00 deposit within 48 hours of the completion of the class. Regardless of the outcome, the deposit will not be refunded. Point Systems 1. An exhibitor must be a member of the Keystone Saddle Club to be eligible for any Year-End Awards. 2. For a horse/rider/handler combination to be eligible for Year-End Awards, the owner and exhibitor must complete all Year-End Award Requirements, abide by the Constitution and By- Laws, and comply with all Horse Show Rules of KSC. 3. Points shall accumulate from the date of payment of membership dues. 4. NO exhibitor will accumulate points if their fees are in arrears. 5. All horse/rider/handler combinations must complete the criteria set forth by the club each year. This includes, but is not limited to: A. Sponsorships collected 1) Individual membership - $50.00 sponsorship 2) Double membership - $75.00 sponsorship 3) Family membership - $100.00 sponsorship B. Points will be awarded on Shows Series shows attended. C. Hours worked - members are required to sign in and work 20 hours before the show season ends and Fun shows do not count! Positions available would be: Food Stand (2) at least Entry Booth (2) at least Announcer (1) at least Ribbons (1) at least Gate person (1) at least Ring Master (1) at least Ring Crew (3 or 4) at least D. Provide 3 total donations to food stand (1 donation for 3 shows), as requested on KSC FB page or per Food Stand Manager or pay the following schedule. 1) Individual - pay $30.00 2) Double - pay $60.00 3) Family pay $90.00 E. Provide the required brand name pop 1) Individual membership (4) 12 pack name brand pop 2) Double membership (6) 12 pack name brand pop 3) Family membership (8) 12 pack name brand pop 6. Each horse/rider/handler combination will be issued a separate number. 7. Jackpot classes are non-point classes. 7

8. The Points Secretary will retain all entry forms for the entire year. 9. All corrections and inquiries on points must be made in writing by the next meeting. 10. Riders overall impression should be neat and clean. B. No tank tops allowed. T-shirts must have a collar. Draft class attire will follow breed standard. C. No tennis shoes. D. KSC strongly recommends the use of ASTM-SEI approved protective helmet. All Leadline and Therapeutic riders are required to wear protective helmets. SHOWMANSHIP CLASSES 1. Must be clean and properly fitted. 2. Western must be shown in a leather halter. 3. English A. Saddle Type must be shown in halter or bridle depending on the breed. If a bridle is used, the snaffle rein should be removed or secured to the mane at the withers. Whips or crops may be used at the discretion of the judge. B. Hunt Type must be shown in a bridle (snaffle, Pelham, Kimberwick, or full bridle) if over two (2) years of age. 4. Draft will be shown according to breed standards. 1. Dress should correspond to proper horsemanship/equitation class attire for specific discipline. 2. Chaps and spurs are not allowed. 3. Gloves are optional. 4. Draft showmen must wear hard-soled shoes or boots, long pants, and dress shirt. Hats are optional for Draft showmen. LEADLINE EQUITATION/HORSEMANSHIP Purpose: Leadline Equitation/Horsemanship provides an opportunity to participate for those whose inexperience or disability prevents them from controlling their animal independently. The exhibitor will display his or her ability as a rider, i.e. the seat, hand, leg position, and ability to steer, in a class that is appropriate to their skill level. Leadline riders must be able to turn, stop, and back their animals by 8

themselves and must be able to sit on their animal without being held in place. Leadline Equitation/Horsemanship is to be evaluated on the rider s position, and active involvement in guiding the animal. Exhibitor Restrictions and/or Qualifications 1. Rider must be eight (8) years old or younger as of January 1 st of the show year. 2. Stallions of any age are not permitted in this class. 3. Exhibitors in this class may not show in any class requiring independent riding at a trot (jog) or canter (lope) at the same show. 1. Appropriate to the selected riding style, English or Western. Refer to the appropriate section of this rulebook. 2. must fit the rider (i.e. feet must be in the stirrups). 3. Buddy stirrups must be used if the rider s feet do not reach stirrups. 4. Rider may not be restrained to the tack or the animal in any manner (i.e. tied, buckled, or fastened). 1. Appropriate to the selected riding style, English or Western. Refer to the appropriate section of this rulebook. 2. All riders in this class must wear ASTM-SEI standard 1163 or above approved protective headgear. Headgear must fit properly and straps must be secure. 3. Protective vests are recommended. Class Procedure and Guidelines 1. The class is to enter the ring at the walk and proceed at the ringmaster s instruction. 2. The judge may request that only half of the arena be used. 3. The entire class shall be worked at a walk both ways of the ring. 4. At the judge s discretion, the class may be asked to back. 5. Jogging/Trotting shall not be requested. 6. Each rider is allowed up to three (3) assistants (a leader and two (2) side walkers). A. Assistants must be thirteen (13) years or older. B. Assistants must also be neatly and safely attired (long pants, boots, and no advertising insignia). 7. This class may be split into Leadline with assistance (would include side walkers) and Leadline without assistance (only a leader, no side walkers) divisions, at the discretion of the show management. Disqualifications 1. Not meeting the preceding criteria (i.e. tack, attire, guidelines). 2. Failure to control the animal, endangering self or others, as determined by the judge. 3. Falling of the animal or rider. 4. Unsoundness of the animal as determined by the judge. 5. Equipment failure causing an unsafe condition, as determined by the judge. 6. Showing in classes requiring independent riding at the trot (jog) or canter (lope) at the same show. Points This class is eligible for Year-End High Point Awards. Refer to the appropriate section of this rulebook. The rider/horse combination will forfeit all points in this class if the rider shows in any class requiring independent riding at the trot (jog) or canter (lope) at any show in the same show series. THERAPEUTIC LEADLINE EQUITATION/HORSEMANSHIP Purpose: Therapeutic Leadline Equitation/Horsemanship provides an opportunity to participate for those whose inexperience or disability prevents them from controlling their animal independently. Horse/Rider may show English or Western, with appropriate tack and attire as stated in the English and Western Pleasure or Equitation/Horsemanship sections of this rulebook. Pleasure 1. Walk/Trot Pleasure is for riders of any age. 2. Animals are to be shown at a walk and trot (jog) in both directions of the arena. 3. Must use entire arena 4. Class will be judged according to preferences of the breed s standard with the exception of no cantering allowed. 5. This class is eligible for Year-End High Point Awards. Refer to the appropriate section of this rulebook. The rider/horse combination will forfeit all points in this class if the rider shows in any class requiring independent riding at the canter (lope) at any show in the same show series, except in designated classes. Equitation/Horsemanship 1. Walk/Trot Equitation/Horsemanship is for riders of any age. 2. Horses are to be shown at a walk and trot (jog) in both directions of the arena. 3. Must use entire arena 4. Patterns may be used at the judge s discretion. 5. Class will be judged according to preferences of the breed s standard with the exception of no cantering allowed. 6. This class is eligible for Year-End High Point Awards. Refer to the appropriate section of this rulebook. The rider/horse combination will forfeit all points in this class if the rider shows in any class requiring independent riding at the canter (lope) at any show in the same show series, except in designated classes. ENGLISH CLASSES 1. Any rule not covered in the English Class section will be dictated by the breed standards of the animal in question. 2. Hunt-Seat Bits and Saddle Seat Bits A. When rulebook refers to any Bit in English Classes, please refer to the requirements set forth by the breed standards of the animal in question. B. The judge may prohibit the use of bits he/she deems severe. 3. Hunt-Seat saddles should be either forward seat or hacking type made of leather or synthetic materials but should not be straight flap park saddles. 4. Saddle-Seat saddles will be a suitable flat-type English saddle. 5. Easy-Gaited horses may be ridden Saddle-Seat or Western. 6. Optional Equipment A. When rulebook refers to any Optional Equipment in English Classes, please refer to the requirements set forth by the breed standards of the animal in question. B. Braiding of mane or tail in proper style using yarn or thread of color that matches the mane or the rider s hunt coat. Saddle-Seat riders may use whatever color ribbon or yarn they desire. 7. Prohibited Equipment A. When rulebook refers to any Prohibited Equipment in English Classes, please refer to the requirements set forth by the breed standards of the animal in question. 1. Must wear breeches or jodhpurs. 2. Coat of conservative color, tweed, or plaid. 3. Boots with a heel. 11

4. Dark blue, black, or brown riding helmet is required unless wearing an ASTM-SEI approved protective helmet. 5. Gloves are optional. 6. If the temperature is above 80 degrees, jackets may be removed at the judge s discretion Pleasure 1. Will be judged under the animal s breed standards. 2. The following terminology shall apply whenever a specific gait is called for: A. Walk 1) Forward working walk rhythmical and flatfooted. 2) Extremely slow or fast walks shall be penalized. B. Trot 1) Long, low ground covering definite two beat cadenced and balanced strides. 2) Smoothness more essential than speed. C. Extended Trot 1) A definite two beat lengthening of stride. 2) Cadenced and balanced. 3) Smoothness more essential than speed. 4) The lengthening stride should be from the shoulder and the leg and cover more ground. D. Canter 1) Smooth, free moving, relaxed and straight on both leads. 2) The stride should be suitable to cover ground following hounds. 3) Over collected or 4 beat canter to be penalized. 4) Excessive speed to be penalized. E. Hand Gallop 1) Should be a definite lengthening of stride with noticeable difference in speed. 2) Horses should be under control at all times and be able to pull-up (not a sliding stop). 3) If asked to pull-up, after the halt, riders must relax the reins and the horse must stand quietly. F. Back 1) Horses should back, on command, quietly, willingly and easily in a straight line without resistance. 2) Jawing, resisting or tossing of the head should be penalized. 3) It is permissible for horses to be backed on the rail. 3. Important As long as horses with naturally longer strides are performing the gaits correctly, they should not be penalized for passing other horses. Equitation 1. Will be judged under the animal s breed standards. 2. Must use entire arena. 3. If pattern incorporates all three gaits, rail work is optional at the judge s discretion. WESTERN CLASSES 1. Any rule not covered in the Western Class section will be dictated by the breed standard of the animal in question. 2. Bits A. When the rulebook refers to any Bit in Western Classes, please refer to the requirements set forth by the breed standards of the animal in question. B. The judge may prohibit the use of bits he/she deems too severe. 12

3. Horses will be shown in Western Saddles. Australian Saddles are not allowed in Western Classes except for Trail Classes. Silver equipment will not count over a good working outfit. Optional Equipment A. When rulebook refers to any Optional Equipment in Western Classes, please refer to the requirements set forth by the breed standards of the animal in question. B. Tapaderos, breast plates or straps C. Spurs not to be used forward the cinch. 4. Prohibited Equipment A. When rulebook refers to any Prohibited Equipment in Western Classes, please refer to the requirements set forth by the breed standards of the animal in question. 1. Shirt with a collar and long sleeves are required. Conservative, well-coordinated colors and fabrics are preferred. If the temperature is over 80 degrees short sleeves may be worn at the judge s discretion. 2. Boots with a heel. 3. Western hat required unless wearing an ASTM-SEI approved protective helmet. 4. Gloves are optional. 5. Chaps are optional unless advised otherwise by the judge. Pleasure 1. Will be judged under the animal s breed standards. 2. The following terminology shall apply whenever a specific gait is called for: A. Walk 1) Bright, alert and responsive to the rider s guidance. 2) Four beat gait 3) Soft, comfortable, flat and ground covering. 4) Each foot should come out of the ground at the same pace it goes in. B. Jog 1) Should be soft, relaxed and comfortable, with a clean lift in the motion. 2) The legs should be working in diagonal pairs, making a distinct two beat gait. 3) At no time should it resemble a running walk nor should it be rough or stilted. 4) The speed and stride should be compatible with the horse s size and conformation. C. Lope 1) Rolling, natural three beat gait. 2) It should be soft and comfortable. 3) The horse s leg should be moving freely with full extension of the limbs. D. Back 1) Should happen on command, quietly, willingly, and easily in a straight line without resistance. 2) Jawing, resisting, or tossing of the head should be penalized. 3) It is permissible for horses to be backed on the rail. 3. Important As long as horses with naturally longer strides are performing the gaits correctly, they should NOT be penalized for passing other horses. Horsemanship 1. Will be judged under the animal s breed standards. 2. Must use entire arena. 3. If pattern incorporates all three gaits, rail work is optional at the judge s discretion. 13

CONTEST CLASSES 1. Western-type equipment must be used. 2. Types of bits that may be used include gag bits, snaffle bits, and bits with a single-twisted mouthpiece. 3. Optional Equipment A. Protective boots or leg wraps B. Martingales, nosebands, and tiedowns C. Spurs not to be used forward the cinch. D. Bat or crop used behind the cinch only. E. Over and Under. 1. Shirt with a collar and sleeves are required. 2. Jeans or long pants are mandatory. NO shorts. 3. Boots with a heel. 4. Western hats are optional. NO Baseball hats. 5. ASTM-SEI approved protective helmets are strongly encouraged. 6. Gloves are optional. Rules 1. Class entries will close one (1) class ahead. 2. A maximum of two (2) riders may use the same horse per class. 3. Horses and ponies may show together. 4. Riders for the next class should be in the holding pen. 5. No crowding at the gate. 6. No running in or out of gate. 7. Gate must remain closed during run. 8. The show officials can excuse any entry for lack of control or unsafe situation. 9. No re-rides for broken equipment, your horse falling, or knocking an obstacle. 10. No time will be given for anyone falling from their horse, a horse falling, broken equipment, or doing the pattern wrong. 11. Exhibitors may touch barrels or poles during ride. 12. A penalty of five (5) seconds will be added for each obstacle knocked over. 13. Electric timer is required or two (2) stopwatches used with the two (2) times averaged. 14. Re-rides for timer failure only. 15. Fastest time will prevail in all contest classes. 16. In case of a tie for any place, a re-run will take place. 17. Disqualified rides do not place. RANCH HORSE PLEASURE CLASSES Purpose The Ranch Horse Pleasure class is to reflect the versatility, attitude and movement of a working horse. The horse s performance should be indicative of a working horse riding outside on the ranch or trail. The horse should work at a forward, working speed while remaining under control at all times. Note: This is not a timed event, and excessive speed will be penalized. Horses exhibited with light contact on the reins should be rewarded; loose or full drape of reins is not necessary. Overall manners, responsiveness of the horse while performing and the horse s quality of movement are the primary considerations. and Animal 1. Equipment should be clean and well fitted. 2. Western saddle and appropriate bridle. 3. Bit or Hackamore (according to breed standards). 14

4. Silver equipment will not count over a good working outfit. 5. Animal should not have a banded mane nor should it have a fake tail; however, points will not be deducted at these shows. 6. Prohibited tack includes: mechanical hackamores, draw reins, tie-downs, martingales, caveson nosebands, protective boots or leg wraps, crops, bats, whips, roping reins. 1. Shirt with a collar and long sleeves are required. If temperature is over 80 degrees short sleeves may be worn at the judge s discretion. 2. Western boots with a heel. 3. Starched jeans or long pants are mandatory, no shorts. 4. Western hat required unless wearing an ASTM-SEI approved protective helmet. 5. Chaps are optional. Should be reining or chinks. 6. Ranch-like attire. Class Procedures and Guidelines 1. Consist of specified gaits A. Walk, B. Trot, C. Extended trot, D. Lope, E. Extended lope, F. Along with three of the five optional maneuvers and change of direction. 2. Optional maneuvers A. Sidepass, B. Turns of 360 degrees or more, C. Change of leads (simple or flying), D. Crossing ground pole(s), E. Any other reasonable ranch maneuver. 3. Horses should not perform the gaits as they would in traditional western pleasure classes. A. Gaits should be presented in a more forward-moving style with emphasis on forward movement, and free-flowing, ground-covering gaits. B. Transitions should be performed where designated, with smoothness and responsiveness. C. No time limit has been set for performing the pattern, and excessive/uncontrolled speed should be penalized. Scoring 1. Each performance should be scored on a scale of 0 100, with 70 denoting average. 2. Severe faults should not place above any rider who does not incur a fault may receive a white ribbon. 3. Severe faults include: A. Failure to complete an attempted maneuver required in the pattern B. Incorrect lead or break of gait that is not corrected. C. Touching the horse. D. Grabbing the saddle horn or any other part of the saddle. E. Exhibiting a four-beat gait at the lope or jog. F. Excessive speed or excessive slowness G. Excessive handling by the rider to maintain control of the horse. 4. Disqualifications will not place; they will include: A. Failure to complete the pattern. B. Failure to wear correct number. C. Willful abuse. D. Spurring in front of the cinch. 15

E. Severe disobedience or resistance by horse, including but not limited to rearing, bucking, or pawing. F. Loss of control of the horse. G. Excessive schooling or training. H. Illegal use of hands on rein (according to breed standards) I. Illegal equipment. DRIVING CLASSES 1. Any suitable vehicle with appropriate harness for vehicle type and equine. 2. Appropriate Driving attire is desired; however, English or Western attire as requires for performance classes is acceptable. 3. Junior Drivers, 14 and under, may have a competent adult groom. The judge has the discretion to require a competent adult groom for all juniors. A second set of lines may be held by the competent adult groom but it must be clear to the judge that the junior is in control of the equine. 4. A properly secured and fitted helmet is recommended for all competitors in Junior classes. 16
