The objective for establishing the State Awards is to recognise those outstanding individuals who can be held up as role models for the sport of tenpin bowling in WA. Specifically: Athletes who have demonstrated sustained performances at the highest levels in the sport of tenpin bowling for the year of nomination; Administrators, Officials, Coaches and Volunteers who have made an extraordinary, inspirational and dedicated personal contribution to tenpin bowling and its development in Western Australia. Volunteer Recognitions of the Year Categories for 2018 For the volunteer/s who has provided outstanding contributions to their Centre Association and/or running tournaments and looking after their leagues. Association/League Volunteer of the Year This award recognises outstanding contributions to Centre Associations, Leagues and Tournaments Junior Bowler of the Year Must not have attained the age of 18 by 1 st January in the year of nomination Youth Bowler of the Year Must not have attained the age of 21 by 1 st January in the year of nomination Adult Bowler of the Year Must be 18 years or over in the year of nomination Senior Bowler of the Year Must be turning 50 or over in the year of nomination Outstanding Team of the Year No age restriction ATBSO Bowler and/or Volunteer of the Year Must be a member of ATBSO Persons with a Disability Bowler of the Year Must meet criteria as defined by TBA Coach of the Year Must be currently TBA accredited Page 1
How to Nominate Each application requires a separate TBAWA Awards Night nomination cover sheet (pg. 6) to be filled out and submitted with the application. Once the nomination form (pg. 7) has been completed please either post or email the nomination to the contacts below. Use a separate cover sheet for each nomination you make. Eligibility The eligibility period for the 2018 awards is from October 31st, 2017, to October 29 th, 2018 spanning a total of 12 months. These awards are to recognize the significant contributions by Western Australian athlete or volunteer who have contributed to the sport of Tenpin Bowling. To be classified as a volunteer a person must not receive remuneration for the contributions they make to the sport. A person becomes ineligible for the TBAWA Awards if they receive remuneration for all the work they do for which they are nominated. If you are uncertain regarding the eligibility of a nominee, please contact TBAWA by email tenpinbowlingwa@outlook.com.nominations must be made by a third-party, no selfnominations will be accepted. The same person can be nominated for more than one category. Page 2
Return of Materials After the Awards Night has been completed any resources, photos, DVDs or supporting materials used in the nomination process, if requested, will be returned to you. What Happens if I win? At the TBAWA Awards Night on Saturday 17 th November 2018, the winners of each award will be announced and presented with their awards and trophy. Winners and photos will be featured on the TBAWA website, Facebook page and our newsletter with a brief description of the reason the recipient won the award. For those who successful nominees that cannot make the TBAWA Awards Night a special presentation, where possible, will be arranged so the recipient can be given their award. Nominees will be notified of their nomination for an award to be able to attend the dinner on the night. Page 3
Nomination Category Specific Criteria TBAWA Volunteer of the Year This award recognises our very best volunteers Western Australian Tenpin Bowling has to offer. The following criteria will be used to assess the suitability of the nominations Length of time volunteering Role and responsibilities as a volunteer Activities completed as a volunteer Outcomes achieved through volunteering Affect of their activities on the sport of Tenpin Bowling in Western Australia TBAWA Coach of the Year This awards recognises significant achievements and contributions of coaches to Western Australian Tenpin Bowling. The following criteria will be used to assess the suitability of the nominations Length of time volunteer coaching Different coaching roles the nominee has performed Number of athletes coached Outcomes achieved through the nominees coaching Extent the coach has had a positive influence on athletes Association/League Volunteer of the Year This award recognises outstanding contributions to Centre Associations, Leagues and Tournaments The following criteria will be used to assess the suitability of the nominations. Length of time volunteering Importance of nominees contribution to the success of the event Extent the volunteer had a positive influence on participants and other members Affect of their activities on the sport of Tenpin Bowling in Western Australia Page 4
Bowler of the Year and or Team (any catergory on page 1) This award recognises the very best bowler in Western Australia. The following criteria will be used to assess the suitability of the nominee and has achieved significant athletic performance for the year and have demonstrated ongoing achievements at an elite level in/or World Ocenia Australian State Championships Ranked Events Personal Qualities. This is an essential criterion for acceptance of a State Award. An individual or team nominated for athlete, administrators, officials or coaches must have conducted themselves throughout their sporting career in a manner that brings credit to themselves, the Western Australian Bowling Association and Tenpin Bowling Australia.
