First, people may be interested in different and new sports at the Olympic Games. For example, there is not just one game, but there may be over one hundred games such as swimming, running, jumping, biking. Second, the world is connected by the multicultural aspect of these games. For instance, many different countries are involved this big event such as Germany, United States, China, and Korea. Third, the Olympic Games encourage people to participate in sports. For example, when people watch the Olympic Games, it will increase stimulation and engagement. In conclusion, people watch the Summer Olympic Games because they can watch various games from different countries; in addition, it shows them the limits of the human body s achievement. The Olympic Games Kelly and Jessica The Rio 2016 Olympic Games are coming now, so people around world have a lot of concern. There are several reasons why the Summer Olympic Games are the biggest issue for people; motivation of participation in sports, uniting the world countries by sports, and being moved by human stories. First, some unexpected things happened that motivated participation in unfamiliar sports. In my country, swimming was not famous because Koreans thought swimming is not suitable for them physically, and we could not win the medals, so we had no concern about it. However, a Korean young boy won medals which nobody had expected. After that, Koreans began to have an interest in 3

swimming, and it has become a popular sport in Korea. Second, the Games make the people all over the world participate in several sports. It does not matter if they come from different human races, religions and ideologies; they can come together. For example, in the 1988 Seoul Games, China joined in the games which were held in a democratic country, and it was the first time. Finally, there are some human stories in which individuals overcome their disability, trouble, and handicaps. For instance, many people remember the swimmer Michael Phelps in 2012 London Games. He had ADHD when he was young, but swimming changed him. After all, he won 4 Gold medals in swimming in those Games. That story encourages many people to get over difficulties. As shown above, it is reasonable that The Summer Olympic Games are so popular because the Games have motivating factors such the participation in sports, uniting the world countries by sports, and being moved by human stories. In Rio 2016, people hope that they can watch more exciting stories. The Olympics addition, large audiences will watch these matches because everyone wants their country to win, so it is a world-class match. Second, audiences can see the spirit of sportsmanship in the games because there are some teams for example, basketball, soccer, and ice hockey. People will feel unity in the games. It has magical powers, and it can bring the win to teams. People will feel and learn this spirit, they will even use this spirit in their life and work in the future. Finally, The Olympics Games are a drastic competition, and every athlete wants to be successful. The athletes can get more renown and money, and they will be known as a hero. For example, Phelps got eight gold medals in the Beijing Olympic Games. People think it is a miracle, and many companies invited him to represent their products. He has a high income, so every athlete wants to get a gold medal. This causes the games to become more intense. In conclusion, the Olympic Games are very popular because they are world-class, there is sports spirit in group games, and every athlete wants to get success. They also usually bring drastic competition to audiences; therefore, the Olympic Games are popular. Gavin, Jun and Kellen Nowadays, more and more people focus on The Olympic Games because they are very popular. There are three reasons for this which include the world-class match, sports spirit, and drastic competition. First, The Olympic Games are a world-class match because a lot of countries will join them, for example, Korea, China, and Canada. In 4

Olympic Games Fang and Hui Why are the Olympic Games popular around the world? Everyone has a different answer. There are three reasons for the popularity of the Olympic Games: entertainment, competition, and opportunity. First, the Olympic Games provide entertainment because they are various in terms of showing power, strength and challenge. For example, a lot of people enjoy watching Olympic Games on TV because they admire the human challenges between man and man. Next, the Olympic Games are a competition because everyone and every team represents their country. For instance, some countries celebrate the championship when they win the national championship. Finally, the Olympic Games provide opportunity because people and companies can be famous through the media spread of the Olympic Games. For example, many teenagers like to wear the clothing of the star player s brand. Entertainment, competition, and opportunity are the themes of mankind forever. well and strong. For example, the boxer Mohammad Ali had a good physical condition and strong muscles in his game life. Second, more and more practice is necessary. It makes the athlete confident. He prepares himself not only physically but also mentally for the game. For instance, all world cup players practice every day for at least two hours. Finally, to achieve the goal, an athlete needs an experienced coach. The coach can teach some important skills for success to professional athletes. For example, there is always a nice story behind a successful athlete about a good coach in his life. In conclusion, having good fitness, more activities and a knowledgeable coach are the qualities of successful athlete. How people become successful professional athletes By Roja and Tabassuma A successful professional athlete should have at least three qualities, including good health, an ability to work hard and an experienced coach. First, a good physical condition plays an important role for a professional athlete. In order to be a successful athlete, he always needs to be How people become successful professional athletes By Jun and Lov You must have some conditions if you want to become a successful professional athlete. First, you must love a sport, whichever one you prefer. For example, Michael Jordan is 5

an NBA star, and he has loved basketball since he was a child. In addition, basketball became a part of his life, so he is very successful now. Next, you must train hard at the things you need. For instance, basketball super star Kobe Bryant contributes a lot of energy in training. He can see the 3AM sunrise in Los Angeles. He was not talented at first. However, after he trained hard, he became a successful athlete. Finally, you need the right physical characteristics, and talent which is important in some sports. For example, the basketball star Yao Ming is very famous in the world because he is a good player in the NBA. His height reaches 226 centimeters. He is very tall, so he is suited to basketball. There are a lot of ways to become a successful professional, but working hard is most the important thing. Secondly, participating in the Olympics can let an obscure player be known. For example, now, Michael Phelps is known as a swimmer, but before that, he was unknown. No one can be famous at first. He prepared about 6 years to swim for an Olympic medal. After that, he got a lot of medals and built a reputation. Lastly, all athletes who have a medal have steadily practiced for their success. For example, we can see interviews of players who have acquired medals. They always talk about the importance of exercise, so we know that is how they succeed. If they stopped the exercise, they would not get any medals. In conclusion, a lot of practice brings success. If you want to succeed as an athlete, you will practice a lot. Olympic Athletes Junho and Alex Olympics are held every 4 years, so athletes need to practice for at least 4 years. This period is not short, but players always feel it is short. Also, they want to succeed, so they practice over and over in their professional fields for the Olympics. This is one way to succeed. They dream of success and want to succeed for several reasons. First of all, they want rewards because they spend a long time working towards their goals. For instance, if the athlete participates in the Olympics, the goal of this person is to get a medal. This is because the medal can give much money and reputation. If the athlete gets a medal, the man receives calls from so many companies who want to sponsor him. How people become successful professional athletes. By Mia and Moon There are a lot of conditions to become successful professional athletes, which include starting at an early age, having a lot of experience and having an excellent coach. First of all, the most important is to start as early as possible because one can adapt easily and learn the basic and advanced skills faster. For example, Yuna Kim, who is a famous figure skater, started 6

at seven years old. As a result, she became a member of the Korean national team, and she won South Korea s first figure skating gold medal in the Vancouver Winter Olympics. Second, having a lot of experience is an important factor of becoming a successful professional athlete. In the case of Yuna Kim, she had built up her experiences by competing in events such as the World Championship 2009, ISU Grand prize 2006 and ISU Junior Grand Prize Final 2005. Finally, having a good coach who has an eye for games and an ability to give appropriate advice about the game is another factor to becoming a successful professional athlete. Brian Orser joined the Yuna team as a head coach to support them in getting a medal in the Vancouver Winter Olympics. In conclusion, if you can fulfill several conditions, which include starting at a young age, accumulating practice and selecting a great instructor, you will be able to grow into a prosperous expert sportsman. By Henry and Azdhar Relationships are a big factor in becoming a successful professional athlete. First, family support is necessary. For example, if someone does not have money for training classes or a gym membership, his family can pay for him. Second, friends motivation is important before an athlete starts a match or game. When an athlete feels sad before an important contest, his friends can make him happy. They can tell him he is stronger than his opponent. Finally, the advice of a coach is a great help to the athlete s life. If the athlete's coach has much experience, he can give very important tips about the sport. For example, a coach may know special boxing techniques, and he can teach these tricks to the athlete. In conclusion, family, friends, and good coaches are the key to being a successful athlete. Successful Athletes By Bookhee and Eunjoo Successful athletes at the Olympic Game have physical talent, endless effort, and great coaches. First, physical talent is an important part of being an athlete. For example, Usain Bolt is a famous sprinter, and he has a speed secret. His speed secret is related to his height and muscle. His height is 1m96cm, and his strong muscles help his strides. As a result, he won the gold medal at the London Olympics, and this was a new Olympic record. Second, constant effort is an essential part in the success of an athlete. Great players always practice for their dreams. They do not have leisure time. They are dedicated athletes who practice every day. For instance, Yu-na Kim has accomplished a monumental amount in figure skating. She was an Olympic figure skating champion. Korea was a figure skating wasteland, but she tried to overcome the environment and her 7

limitations. She was a dedicated athlete who practiced every day. Her tears and sweat brought the final outcome of the Olympic Gold Medal. Finally, a great athlete must meet a great coach. The coach charges up the athlete to win the game. When a player meets a good coach, they can better demonstrate their capabilities. For example, Jisung Park is well known in the world as a soccer player. However, he was an ordinary soccer player in the past. When he met Guus Hiddink, he was selected as the midfielder. His ability began to shine; as a result, he joined Manchester United. He was the greatest player in the annals of soccer in Korea. There are great coaches behind great players. In conclusion, professional players have three characteristics which mark them for big achievement at the Olympic Games. 8
