Golf News September was a very busy week for Golf and Mother Nature wreaked havoc with the schedule! The Member Guest Tournament was rescheduled due to a threat of Hurricane Florence and very wet conditions on the course. The Ladies Championship was played over 2 weeks due to weather conditions and the Culpeper Chamber s 16 th Annual Golf Classic also had to be rescheduled. All that being said, we got everything in and Jimmy is aerifying the course as I write this. On to Golf Results! Ladies Golf (Write up by Lisa Rand) Please give a BIG hurray and round of applause for our Club Champion, Ann DuFrane. Ann prevailed in a 1-hole playoff after she and Becki Davis tied after 36 holes. Lou Ann, Elizabeth, Becki and Ann played both rounds in somewhat less than ideal conditions but through it all, sportsmanship, support and friendship were on display. Congratulations Ann, you earned it. Senior Men s Golf The Trophy Stays in Culpeper!!!!!!! (Write up by Ronnie Deal) After finishing the regular season in 4 th place, our team put together 2 great final matches to win the playoffs and defend our title! First, we defeated Regency Blue team at Fawn Lake and then went to Greene Hills course to defeat Fauquier Springs for the title. As Captain, I would like to thank every player on the team for all their extra efforts and helping our team win another Championship. Also, I would like to thank Jim and Susan McGrath for all they did to help with the team in our home matches. Now to get ready for next season and a Three-Peat! 2018 Member Guest Tournament Sponsored by Battlefield Automotive After being rescheduled we topped out at 24 teams. Thursday was the practice round in steady rain and golfers were just trying to stay dry but the evening s reception was lively and fun. Shannon Peterson provided music and got everyone up and dancing. A special thanks to our Reception Sponsor, Woodward Turf Farms!
