The Maltby Messenger Maltby Elementary School Bonnie McKerney, Principal Pam Johnson, Office Manager ~ Secretary, Jamie Porter 360-804-3500 or 800-282-7818 ~ FAX 360-804-3599 ~www.monroe.wednet.edu October 22, 2015 A Message from the Principal~ As we move into the final week of October, we have many exciting activities. Next week is our conference week and an opportunity to meet with your child s teacher. This is a great time to ask questions and set goals for this school year. If you do not have a conference scheduled, please call our office so we may schedule a time for you. We look forward to sharing all our good news about your child at conferences! Tomorrow is bingo night. Please come and join the fun! It is a dollar to get in and then you can enjoy a night of fun! Mr. Mogg is our bingo caller and our MC. We hope to see you tomorrow. The book fair also begins tomorrow and runs through conference week. The Secret Garden is providing the books and we are excited to have access to outstanding literature! Come browse as you wait for your conference. We so appreciate our volunteers! A huge thank-you to so many of you who help us at school and support us at home! From supporting students with homework, to supporting our after school programs, we could not function without your partnership. If you would like to volunteer and have not yet done so, there are volunteer packets in the office. Promoting literacy is a school goal this year. There are a couple of books you might consider sharing with your child. One book is entitled, The Dot, by Peter Reynolds. It discusses the idea of a growth mindset. It is about the belief that every child can be creative and inspired. The other book, The Most Magnificent Thing, by Ashley Spires, discusses perspective and flexibility in thinking. Both books have beautiful illustrations and an important message. Have a great weekend! Bonnie McKerney Parent-Teacher Conferences are next week, October 26th through October 30th. All students will be dismissed at 12:55 PM.
The Health Room is out of packages of underwear in both girls and boys (Sizes 5-8). It is most helpful if all students have spare clothing kept in their backpack in case they are in need of a change of clothes. An extra pair of socks is also helpful, especially when the weather turns rainy. If your child has come home from school wearing clothes from the Health Room, please launder the items and return them to school as soon as possible.. Lost And Found Has it been a while since you ve seen that nice new sweatshirt or jacket? Maybe it has found its way to our Lost and Found. Lunch pails, sweatshirts, coats, and jackets are waiting to be claimed. Please stop by and check out the lost and found to claim any items that you may have lost. During conference week, all items will be displayed on the front fence. Items will be donated to a charity the week of November 9th.
