TRANSPORTATION BOND PROGRAM ADVISORY COMMITTEE LAMAR STREET PECAN STREET and OLIVE STREET Description: With removal of Couplet (March 2012), consider improving roads to provide better traffic circulation, more on-street parking, sidewalks, street lighting and traffic signalization. Install concrete streets in accordance with the Old Town Keller typical street cross section (31-foot wide roadway with 18.5-foot perpendicular parking on both sides) for all streets. Costs include engineering, 6-foot wide sidewalks on both sides of street, street lighting, drainage improvements for all streets, and a traffic signal on US Hwy 377 at Pecan Street. Est. Total Project Cost: $1,484,000 Est. Cost Breakdown: Lamar St (Golden Triangle to Pecan) = $1,006,000; Pecan St (remainder) = $97,000; Olive St (Lamar to US 377) = $156,000; (Traffic Signal on US Hwy 377 at Pecan St = $225,000, included) Eng. Questions from the Committee
How many parking spaces are existing on Elm Street and Pecan Street? How many will be created? How many single family residences front Elm Street? There are 26 existing parking spaces on Elm Street; 265 will be created. There are 10 single family residences that front Elm Street between the intersection of FM 1709 and Pecan Street. There are 74 parking spaces on Pecan Street.
How many parking spaces are existing along Lamar St./west of US 377? How many will be created with the proposed improvements? Existing parking spaces in Old Town on the west side of US 377, including all existing parking lots, is 265. Total proposed parking spaces with proposed extension of Lamar Street from Hill Street south to Pecan Street, then on Pecan Street and on Olive Street extension will be 451. This equals 451 total spaces.
Response from TXDOT regarding a pedestrian crossing if a traffic signal is installed at Pecan St. TXDOT stated a pedestrian crossings on US 377 is possible at a signalized intersection. They would consider an underpass or overpass pedestrian crossing at the city s cost and city s long term maintenance.
