THE BOSTON BRUINS WEEK AHEAD OCTOBER 1 OCTOBER 7 THIS WEEK S NEWS, NOTES AND NUMBERS: KAMPFER UPDATE: Defenseman Steven Kampfer suffered a sprained MCL in his left knee during the team s preseason game against the Senators on Thursday and is expected to miss 2-4 weeks. PRESEASON FINALE ON SATURDAY: The Bruins will wrap up their 2011-12 preseason when they visit Bridgeport, CT and play the New York Islanders on Saturday, October 1 (Local TV: none, Local Radio: none). 27 players currently remain on the Bruins roster, including rookies Jordan Caron, Lane MacDermid, Matt Bartkowski and Max Sauve as well as camp invite Chris Clark. BRUINS TO EMBARK ON TEAM-BUILDING TRIP: The Black & Gold will board busses on Sunday morning, October 2 and head to an undisclosed location for a team-building trip. The club will return on Monday evening, October 3. In terms of media availability, Sunday will be an off-day while Monday s availability will take place via conference call at 4:00 p.m. ET with select players and Head Coach Claude Julien. The conference call details will be released on Monday. MEDIA DAY SET FOR TUESDAY: The Bruins annual Media Day will be held Tuesday, October 4 at the TD Garden. Following the team s practice at 10:00 a.m. Principal Charlie Jacobs, President Cam Neely, General Manager Peter Chiarelli, and Head Coach Claude Julien will hold a press conference in the Gray Walls Area. The Bruins players will be available to the media after the press conference. The Bruins also will provide a complimentary buffet-style lunch for all media who attend after the team availability sessions. Please enter through the Media/Back Security Entrance as you would on a regular Bruins gameday and have a valid press ID/credential with you and visible at all times. CHAMPIONSHIP RING PRESENTATION DINNER TO BE HELD TUESDAY EVENING: The Bruins 2011 Stanley Cup Championship rings will be unveiled during a team dinner on Tuesday evening, October 4. While the dinner itself will be closed to the media, there will be Bruins player/management media access outside the location both before and after the event. The Bruins Communications Staff will issue a release on Monday, October 3 with the full details of the event, including exact timings, location and media availability schedules. BANNER RAISING FESTIVITIES: The sixth Stanley Cup championship banner will be raised to the TD Garden rafters on Thursday, October 6 during the Bruins season opener against the Philadelphia Flyers (7:00 p.m. ET, TV: VERSUS, RADIO: 98.5 The Sports Hub). The Bruins encourage fans to arrive to the Garden early on Thursday, as there are a number of special pregame festivities in store. Fan Fest will be set up in the TD Garden front lot beginning at 4:30 p.m. and doors will open at 5:30 p.m. The team will issue a release with full details on event specifics and timings on Wednesday, October 5. HALLMARK HEALTH WALK THIS SUNDAY: The Boston Bruins Foundation is teaming up with Hallmark Health for a charitable walk with 300 to 500 participants on Sunday, October 2 beginning at 8 a.m. ET. Funds will benefit the Boston Bruins Foundation and Hallmark Health. The route will travel through the North End to the Seaport and back, totaling 3.5 miles. Participants will be able to enjoy food and beverages as well as live music.
