CEO TROPHY INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT BRIDGE TELKOM INDONESIA OPEN 2018 Supplemental Condition of Contest A. GENERAL This condition of contest based on 2017 Laws of Duplicate Bridge the standard regulations which apply to all World Bridge Championship, as listed below B. PARTICULAR RULE 1. When lodging a Request for Review the appellant must make a monetary Deposit with the Tournament Director. The amount of deposit required will be 1,000,000 IDR. This deposit will be refunded unless the Appeal Committee determines that the request was without merit, in which case the deposit will be forfeited. A request for a review of a Tournament Director s ruling must be lodged in writing method, no later than 15 minutes after the Chief Tournament Director has given ruling (after the session is complete). The Appeal Committee session must be attended by at least 3 Experts appointed by the committee. In this regards, the decisions of the Experts are absolute and obligatory. 2. Neither Highly Unusual Methods (HUM) Systems nor Brown Sticker Conventions are permitted at any time during this event. 3. In making Judgement, Tournament Director is allowed to consult with the Experts. C. D. FORMAT 1. The Match will be played in 2 (two) rounds. The Qualification Round (QR) will be played over one and half days with 7 (Seven) swiss sessions of 10 boards each. The Top 7 (Seven) teams at the end of The QR with 1 home team will qualify for Final Round, while all teams below has right to take a part in Swiss team match with at least 4 players who are same during the Qualification Round. 2. Each Team may have four, five or six players. No player can play more than one team. The players may switch the team, during the Swiss team match and must pay the registration fee for the Swiss category. 3. Category Prizes for the best Ladies, Best Agencies/Companies, Best Telkom, Best Junior, Best Student, Best Mixed/Super mixed and Best Senior based on the results of Swiss teams match (not from Qualification Round). And there won t be double prizes in this contest, and each category is followed by a minimum of 4 team, all prizes for each categories there should be 4 teams each categories, if less than 4 teams there will be no prize. 4. Foreign team are all non Indonesia players, and proven by their identity (PASSPORT) 5. Junior Team are at least 4 players up to 26 years (born January 1 st,1993 or later) and proved by their identity, and the other 2 player can be up to 28 years old. 6. Senior Team are at least 4 players shall be or attain at least 60 years of age during the calendar year 2018, proved by their identity, and the two other player can be 58 years old. 7. Agencies / Companies category, the team must consist of at least 3 players who are employees of the relevant agency or company, and proved by their Identity Company card. 2
E. TYPES OF CONTEST 1. Qualification Round a. The Format will be Swiss teams, normally played as 10 board matches for 7 Round. And each team will faces the same opponent once. b. Pairing for the Qualification round will be : Round 1 based on team number. Round 2 and so on based on rank of the teams at that time, which is Rk1 x Rank 2, Rank 3 x Rk.4, Rk.5 x Rk.6, Rk.7 x Rk.8, etc. At The last Round, the Team who would definitely be ranked 1 despite losing 20-0 (with the total VP difference with the current 2 ranked team, at least 21VP) were not included in the last session. c. The pairing determination of participants is based on the total VP at that time. Especially for the determination of pairing, if there are two teams or more are tied with the same number of VP, the tie shall be broken as follow: Total value of imp plus. If the tie remains, then: the team with small numbers is considered to be in the higher rank. d. After Qualification Round, the best 7 team will go to final round. If there are two or more teams are tied with the same number of VP, the tie shall be broken with IMP quotient (total IMPs won divided by total IMPs lost). e. Final Round a. Best 7 Teams from the Qualification Round with 1 Home Team will compete in the Final round. b. The teams will play one round robin, of 12 board matches starting on Friday, 16 th November. There will be no carry over in any matches of the final round. c. Determining the final rank, based on total VP of 7 round of round robin, if two teams are tied with the same number of Victory Points at the end of the round-robin, the tie shall be broken as follows : i. Direct Match Result, it the tie remains then : 3
ii. IMP quotient (total IMPs won divided by total IMPs lost). d. The Draw of Final Round : Rd. ETHICS All the participants must comply with a number rules during the game, as listed below : a. All participants must show respect toward Sportmanship and other bridge s code of ethics b. English is the official language of the championship. During a match the players may converse only in English. The Laws printed in English will be used by Tournament Directors to adjudicate irregularities. c. To avoid the impression of giving unauthorized information, during the game, please don t make suspicious movement and holding the card lower than the table surface. d. Please no slippers are using in this tournament except for special obstacles. 4
G. DISCLOSURE OF SYSTEMS, CONVENTION CARD AND ALERTS All players must notify their opponents of the system used and provide convention cards and alerts all artificial call according to the following condition : a. Each pair must have a duplicate convention card. b. During the Qualification Round and swiss teams round, brown sticker and red sticker system will be prohibited c. Those bids which have special meanings or which are based on or lead to special understandings between the partners should be alerted, include weak No Trump. Specially, if screens are in use, both of players alert his opponents. H. PENALTIES a. Late arrival : 1-5 minutes late :Warning 5+ -15 minutes late : 0,5 VP every minutes 15+ minutes late : the match is cancelled and is considered a walkover b. Slow Play If play continues beyond the time limit, boards that not have been played will be revoked and the board that is being played must still be completed but subject to the following slow play penalty 1 5 minutes after time : warning 5+ minutes : 0,5 VP every minutes c. Walkover If a team, by its own fault is unable to play against another team, it will receive the best score between: 1. The teams average 2. The average score obtained by all the other opponent against the team at fault. 3. 12 VP using the 20-0 VP scale,,whichever is greater. d. Winning over W.O, : i. This Event using Swiss team format, so the winning over W.O for Round 1 or Round 2 gain 12 VP ii. If there is one team, get W.O more than once, will be disqualified, and in case of that team being disqualified in final round, the following rules apply : 5
a. If the disqualified team has played more than a half its scheduled matches (Final Round), then the earlier matches scores still counted b. If the disqualified team has played less than a half its scheduled matches (Final Round), then all previous result of such team are cancelled, and their opponent in final get 12 VP against that team. iii. VP only counted only 2 digit after coma e. In any violation of the following provisions are subject to penalty of 1VP. : i. The participant need to be neat or clear in term of writing scores. Do not use any scribbles. ii. Mobile phones shall be switched off during the play iii. During the game, players who want to leave their seats must asking permission to the Tournament Director iv. After the auction is complete and before the opponent opening lead, the declarer should not show their card to the partner I. AWARDING In this tournament, a prize of 220.000.000IDR will be provided for the following categories : 8 Finalist, 4 Swiss Team, Best Ladies, Best Agencies/Companies, Best Telkom, Best Junior, Best Student, Best Mixed/Super mixed and best Senior. J. ANOTHER 1. In emergency case, after consult with Tournament Committee, in this case Tournament Director may take action to set additional rules and will be announcing to all participants before. 2. This Tournament use double closed room, so no spectators can be admitted in the playing rooms to watch the matches. 3. If there is two team facing each other and turned out to be sitting in the same direction so that score could not be calculated, both of team will be penalized get VP 7-7 6
