The Lady Flames Big South home opener will be the only 2012-13 regular-season matchup between Liberty and the Blue Hose. The Starting Five - Today s Top Storylines 1) A lot will be at stake in Thursday s game, as the winner will become the fi rst Big South team to reach 3-0 in conference play in 2012-13. PC will be aiming for its fi rst-ever 3-0 start in Big South action. 2) Presbyterian College will shoot for its fi rst-ever victory over Liberty. The Lady Flames are 9-0 all-time against the Blue Hose, including 5-0 at the Vines Center. 3) Liberty will try to win its Big South home opener for the fi rst time since the 2009-10 season. The Lady Flames have dropped back-to-back Big South home lid-lifters, falling to Radford in 2010-11 and dropping an overtime contest to High Point a year ago. 4) The game will pit Liberty s high-powered offense against Presbyterian College s stingy defense. The Lady Flames are averaging 87.0 ppg during their current three-game winning streak. Meanwhile, the Blue Hose have held their opponents (UCF and Coastal Carolina) to a total of 79 points in the last two outings. 5) Liberty s Devon Brown is averaging 30.0 ppg through two Big South games this season, including a career-high 32-point outburst at Winthrop on Saturday. She played well the last time she faced Presbyterian College, on Feb. 20, 2012 in Clinton, S.C. Brown scored 20 of her 27 points after halftime, helping Liberty rally from a six-point second-half defi cit to win, 69-64. Brown also collected a game-high 11 rebounds.
