About the Kumaun University:- Kumaun University, a residential-cum-affiliating university, was established on 1 st December 1973 under the Act of State Legislature (U P State Universities Act), and is a permanent member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Kumaun University is an ISO 9001-2008 certified institution, which follows International Quality Management System. Kumaun University consists of three campuses at Almora, Nainital and Bhimtal. The total area covered by the University thus far is an impressive 160 acres. The beautifully designed colleges blend in perfectly with the surrounding architecture and complete the breath taking scenery. Special emphasis is placed by Kumaun University to uphold the motto of excellent teaching and high quality research. In the residential and affiliated campuses, both teaching and research activities are equally important factors that support the curriculum and contribute to the student's learning habits. University has a fully automated Central library near to its administrative building and the library is having a very good quality reference documents, course related books, theses, national and international research journals, etc. For the promotion of research related works Library acquiring almost 120 National and International research journals every year (Printed Version) and through E-consortia library is subscribing 4500 national and international E-journals, databases, etc. Digitization work of Thesis and other rare books available in the central library is going on. About the Conference:- The topic of conference Next Generation Libraries: Issues and Challenges is quite relevant in today s context. The Conference will provide a platform for librarians, information professionals, and IT intellectuals to share their ideas in the field of recent activities and applications in Library and Information Services by eminent speakers from all over India in the form of research papers, key note address, panel discussions and so on. Conference objective:- 1. The most important objective of this event is to provide a platform for the exchange of knowledge and skills relevant to library professionals. 2. To anticipate the issues and challenges can appear in front of a professional in the next generation libraries. 3. To bring together the library professionals and students at a common platform to discuss the future of librarianship in India. 4. Call for papers:- The organizing committee invites scholarly papers on the topics mentioned above. A review panel will review the papers based on originality of the work, quality and relevance to the main topic of the conference. The papers should be organized so as to accommodate abstract, introduction, objective, methodology, results obtained and references. All text should be typed in Arial or Times New Roman Font with size 12 and singlespaced. How to reach Nainital:- By Air Being a hill station, Nainital does not have direct air connectivity. The nearest airport is located at Pantnagar, which lies at a distance of 65 kilometers from Nainital. By Train The nearest railway station is located at a distance of 34 kilometers at Kathgodam, at the foothills of the Kumaon hills. Kathgodam railway station enjoys good connectivity to important places such as Delhi, Lucknow and Howrah. Some of the popular trains that ply from Kathgodam station are Ranikhet Express, Uttar Sampark Kranti Express, Bagh Express, Dehradun Kathgodam Express and Anvt Kgm Shatabdi Express. Outside the railway station, you can either hire a shared cab or board a private taxi which will take you to the city. By Bus Nainital enjoys excellent bus connectivity to important destinations in North India. State Transport Corporation and Several tour operators operate daily bus service from New Delhi to Nainital, which includes options like air-conditioned, non-air-conditioned, sleeper and Volvo buses. Boarding an overnight bus is the most convenient way to head to Nainital, although some buses operate during the daytime as well. By Road/Self Drive Nainital is well-linked to all nearby places by a network of well-constructed roads, including National Highway 87, which links it to Rudrapur and Rampur. A 6 to 7 hour drive from New Delhi, Nainital can easily be accessed by road. Accommodation: - Accommodation can be arranged on request and so the payments for the accommodation will be borne by the participant him/her self.
