Thank you for your interest in joining the Danceology family! I apologize in advance for the lengthiness of this letter, but there is a lot of information and I hope you will take the time to read everything This packet includes information to use for registration or as a guide for calculating what registration costs could be for your dancer(s). There is a schedule of the classes available, a form listing monthly tuition, and other important information. Please know that you are NOT considered registered until your first month of lessons, first month of costume deposit, recital fee, and registration fee are paid in FULL; only then is a place in a class guaranteed. Outfits, T-shirts, shoes, & more can be paid for at a later date but cannot be taken home or worn until paid. CLASS INFORMATION: 1) Creative Movement (Live Oak Studio Only) is a 45-minute ballet class for 2 year olds using fun songs to teach basic coordination and listening skills. 2) Kinderdance is a one-hour class for 3&4 year olds. It is a ballet & tap combo class utilizing fun songs to teach basic skills and coordination. 3) Kindergarten & 1 st graders have a one-hour ballet-tap combo class. The class is divided into two ½ hour sections focusing on each style individually. 4) 2 nd 6 th graders have ½ hour individual classes available to them in the styles of Ballet, Tap, & Jazz and are required to take a combination of at least two styles. 7 th -12 th graders will have ½ hour or 45-minute classes available to them also in the styles of Ballet/Lyrical, Tap, & Jazz and are also required to take a combination of at least two styles. 5) Hip Hop classes are available to 3 rd -12 th graders, which are either ½ hour or 45-minute classes. 6) Pointe is an invitation only for dancers who are 11 years of age or older and have trained in ballet no less than 3 consecutive years. Pointe must be taken in conjunction with a ballet class and it can be used as one of the mandatory 2 classes. 7) Classes listed on the schedule with A-B-C are classes of the same level or age group. The letters are simply identifiers for the different classes; both classes will learn the same basic material. Classes listed with I-II- III-IV are different ages & different skill level. Placement is at teacher s discretion. DRESS CODE, UNIFORMS, & SHOES: We have a dress code for our classes; it has gotten more relaxed but still has requirements. I do not ask anything of the students that I am not willing to do myself. Believe me, I know that not every dancer has a perfect figure and any teasing or inappropriate comments will not be tolerated! All dancers are beautiful no matter what shape God has blessed them with and they are there to dance, not to be judged in a fashion show! Every dancer will be required to purchase the standard studio performance uniform before Christmas on the Square. STUDIO T-SHIRTS: I like for all of our dancers, female & male to have a Danceology t-shirt. They are black with our studio logo on the front. In the spring, we take orders for a recital themed t-shirt that will have all the dancers names on the back. STUDIO SWEATPANTS & HOODIES: Many dancers will use black sweatpants worn with their studio leotard for our Christmas performance in December, especially older dancers. We will have sweatpants with our studio name on the leg available for sale around November, along with hoodies. Purchasing these is not mandatory. DRESS CODE FOR OUR GIRLS: Dancers will purchase matching uniforms consisting of Leotard, Tights, a Skirt and/or pants, and dance shoes. For classes, dancers are REQUIRED to wear a (any style or color) leotard and tights. Dance outfits bought from outside vendors (Target, Wal-Mart, etc.), shorts or other bottoms worn over their leotard and tights, or a camisole top worn with tight fitting jazz shorts (in lieu of a leotard) may be worn. Hoodies & t-shirts are not allowed during class; I am allowing

decorative or loose shirts/tanks worn over a leotard or crop top. A t-shirt of some kind should be worn to and from classes as a cover up if only wearing a leotard. Also, dancers wearing jazz shorts should wear sweatpants or similar over their shorts to & from classes. NO PANTIES should be worn with any dance attire! Bras must not show- it s just tacky!!! If a dancer MUST have extra support with a leotard, which would show bra straps, a sports bra in a matching color should be worn. Tights MUST be worn for every class or if you wear footless tights, you must have socks to wear with your dance shoes; this cuts down on internal dirtiness & odor. HAIR must be pulled up SECURELY into a ponytail, braid, or bun. Re-doing hairstyles during class will not be tolerated! Dancers not dressing to code will be given 2 warnings; on the 3 rd occurrence your account will be charged with the purchase of a new outfit. Studio performance uniform can be worn for class each week but is not mandatory SHOES FOR THE GIRLS: Dancers K3 4 th grade will use pink ballet shoes for ballet, tan student tap shoes for tap, and black jazz boots for jazz (if eligible for jazz). Dancers 5 th grade & up will use ½ Sole lyricals for ballet (these look like ballet shoes without heels), Tan Heeled Taps for Tap, Black Jazz Boots for Jazz, and Pointe Shoes for those eligible for Pointe. The availability of consigned shoes is extremely limited. Dancers are greatly encouraged to have a bag that is SPECIFICALLY for your dance shoes. Swapping shoes between bags leads to losing them as does toting them in their school backpacks! I hope to have more various Danceology bags available for purchase. Initially Yours, Custom Illusionz, or any other embroidery business will usually happily create you a beautifully embroidered/decorated bag for a reasonable price! DRESS CODE FOR OUR BOYS: For class, boys may wear any t-shirt with soccer length shorts (preferably with boxer briefs worn underneath)- sweatpants-or warm up pants, and SOCKS. Jeans and Linen pants/shorts are not allowed for class. Black Ballet shoes will be used for Ballet, Black Tap Boots for Tap, and Black shoes (the style our girls wear for jazz) or Black Jazz Sneakers for Jazz. All boys will need solid black soccer length shorts and solid black sweat pants/warm-up pants for public performances to be worn with their Danceology t-shirt. AFTER-SCHOOL & DAYCARE PICKUP: We offer free pick up for immediate after-school students and for any in town daycare that has 3 or more enrolled Pre-K dancers. Individual dancers needing pick-up/return services to a daycare or after-school program will be charged a $5.00 a month fee. We do not pick up from personal residences or home daycares. Please note that we utilize help from volunteer adults and I will need parents to sign a permission sheet allowing their dancers to ride with our trusted volunteers. SCHOOL HOLIDAYS: There are approximately 30-32 weeks of classes. Those weeks do not include Thanksgiving Break, Christmas/Winter Break, or Spring Break. There are several random school holidays listed on the calendar and we will typically hold classes as normal on those days; attendances will not be counted on days that school is out. Tuition is figured on the number of weeks we have classes throughout the year and then divided into monthly payments. Our short months, like December and May are made up by months that have more than 4 weeks. Therefore, full tuition is expected to be paid September thru May. The schedule is set in stone. There are typically 12-15 spots available in a class. In the event a second class is needed, a waiting list will be created. REGISTRATION: Saturday, August 20: 10am-5pm, Friday, August 26: 1pm-6pm, & Saturday, August 27: 10am-6pm. Classes will begin the week of September 5 th! Please bring your dance shoes & uniforms with you to confirm everything fits! Thank you for taking the time to read the letter in its entirety. I look forward to working with you and your dancer! If you have any questions, call text email Facebook me and I will happily do my best to answer them. Stay on your Toes! 2017 RECITAL THEME: For The Love Of Dance! Miss Shannon
