Support Walking guides The Great Tesco Walk is a guided national walking challenge. On the day you will be setting off alongside your colleagues and led by Qualified Action Challenge Guides who will show you the way and set the pace! Walkers will then be divided into similarly paced groups so that you can walk at a speed comfortable to you. We are aiming to keep walkers together, and depending on the size of the walk this may mean there are more than one or two groups following the route. Our expert walking guides will also provide lots of support and advice to help you stay on track and reach the finish line. Route support Along with the guides, there will be a larger Action Challenge team supporting walkers on each Leg. Support vehicles will be on hand for those who may need assistance or picking up. Medics will also be roaming the course and available for advice or check-ups at the rest stops. Google map Save this Google Map of the route including rest stop locations to your phone s browser for use on the walk. CLICK HERE >> or enter https://goo.gl/svkhjv into your phone s browser.

Medics There will be a first aid team on hand throughout the event along the route and at the rest stops should you need any advice, assistance or if there are any incidents at all. Control room and event staff You will have emergency contact numbers for our Event Management Team on the day. You will be able to contact the emergency team at any time throughout the Challenge in emergencies or in situations that you feel you want advice or help. We will also have Info points at the rest stop & finish - manned by our Event Staff who are there to help you. Retiring procedures If during the walk you need to retire for whatever reason, you must do so at a rest stop where our team can advise how you can get home. If for a medical reason or you feel unable to continue along the route we will also have vehicle support on hand. To exit the event you must make our Event Managers and Walking Guides aware. Baggage transfer There will be a free baggage transfer service if you wish to have a small bag (no bigger/larger than 30L) transferred to the finish of your Half or Full Leg. You can do so by using the baggage drop service when you register at the Challenge. Social media With thousands of colleagues across the country taking part in The Great Tesco Walk, engaging with social media is a great way for us all to spread the word and share our experiences. We d encourage you to share your stories, photos and videos on Yammer, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Please don t forget to include the hashtag #TheGreatTescoWalk so that we can retweet and repost as appropriate. Here s some sample wording/posts which might help you on your way: About to set off on #TheGreatTescoWalk with my colleagues from X store/dc to raise funds for Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation Here s a pic of me and my team from x store/dc about to set off on #TheGreatTescoWalk Just finished walking XXkm to keep healthy and raise funds for Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation. #TheGreatTescoWalk Half way there!
